This is a B kick or butterfly kick, an aerial is more vertical like a sideflip but with no tuck.
Aerials are hard because it's vertical like any somersaults...

in tricking, the move in this video would be considered an aerial. you're absolutely correct tho, it's very similar to a bkick. the difference is that bkick rotates along a horizontal plane and places your head and chest up throughout the move whereas aerial rotates along an off-axis plane and places your head and chest down throughout the move. hope that clears things up for you.
