  • Rachel Flowers Plays The Endless Enigma -- Tribute to Keith Emerson. Rachel Flowers was one of several performers paying Tribute to the Life of Keith Emerson. This was a one time performance at Symphony Hall In Birmingham, England, July 28, 2017. I apologize for the periodic shakiness of the video, I have an 18-300mm zoom lens that was nearly at maximum zoom where even slight moves appear as big ones since I had no no tripod. I don't know who cried more, Rachel or me!

      Her timing is also superb! I've known keyboardists who could play at least parts of ELP's music but their timing was so poor it was usually impossible to play along with them (as a drummer).

      I'm 63, 6 foot 2, 276 pounds, flame and skull tattoos and I didn't cry. Well, maybe a little bit. Okay, I cried! It doesn't help one of my tattoos is the "Tankadillo" from the Tarkus album design. At my (murdered by her husband) daughter-in-law's funeral service, I requested "From The Beginning" played. I .... when Kieth Emerson died, I got out all the records and CDs, and I cried for a week. I didn't realize what an influence he had been in my life. I own four or five synths and I can't even play! Every time I see this I weep. I weep for all our loss and especially for the amazing relationship Rachel had with Kieth. Your loss is so great and the love shows through. Thank you Rachel for being such an amazing artist and such an inspiration! Please keep this legacy alive with your loving kindness.

      Dear Frank Plughoff: This is a well-written wonderful heartfelt paragraph. I am curious: You purchased five synths -- and yet you do not play, why?

    • @FrankPSF
      @FrankPSF 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@eddyvideostar Because you don't have to "play" to make music with synths. I might just be scientifically minded and enjoy the math of creating sounds and exploring harmonic resonance. I might love love all the switches, knobs and patch points. There are a thousand reasons. I was touched beginning with (then) Walter Carlos and all of the synth practitioners since. Do I have to "play" in order to enjoy synthesis?

    What a rare, beautiful display of the human condition. I’m a hardcore misanthropist too, so for a human to make me cry, or even so much as give me goosebumps you know it’s got to be beautiful... Rachel as always a true professional, how hard it must have been for her to carry on, through ELP but I think mainly Keith he was her inspiration, mentor and real life friend, Thank you Rachel through you Keith and ELP will live on, their music is in safe hands with you.
    Many years ago I took my son to his first live concert, an ELP concert in Newcastle, England, his style of musical love was not the same as mine and he thought I was old and out of fashion regarding music, however on hearing and seeing ELP perform live (he had heard me playing their records many times before) he was absolutely mesmerized with their performance, and although he never changed loving the kind of music he liked, he also became a fan still today of ELP which his friends never understood, I told him to watch this video and like myself his eyes filled up with tears of music's loss, also rejoicing on Rachel's talent to keep it alive.

    I loved ELP since I heard their first LP and saw them in the early 70s to the last time I saw Keith with Lake & Powell. I cherish the drum skin they all signed for my son who had Leukemia. I saw Rachel's videos playing ELP works and was blown away and captivated by her sweet soul. Since Keith's passing it gets a little difficult to hear his music without shedding a year. This video gives me a huge lump in my throat along with the tears! I love you Rachel. RIP Keith & Greg. I pray you both are making music with the angels.

    Ahhh...The power of Music. It soothes the soul, relieves stress, can cause uncontrolled dancing when alone or in an audience of thousands. It can lift you up on the worst of days and make a good day even better. It can inspire, motivate, and simply amuse. Without music our lives would be insignificant, boring, and lifeless. Great artist like Rachel deserve every accolade they receive. To see her mourn for her friend, mentor, and fellow artist and still play a tribute to Keith as beautifully as she did then, and does even now, is truly humbling and should be applauded as I applaud Rachel now. If you have to be home and worried about whether the next person you see will pass on something that could potentially take your life...finding and experiencing a gem like Rachel makes passing these days of fear and self isolation just that much easier. Bravo!

    Rachel feeling the moment is WONDERFUL! All of us Emo fans share your feeling Rachel. It’s beautiful to share that with you.
    You played beautifully! I loved how you expanded the harmony and used ‘Emersonian’ chords on part 1. Fugue is a bitch. I played that for awhile, and it’s hard to keep it under my fingers without lots of practice. You make it sound so effortless, just as Keith did. I’m glad you were inspired by him as so many of us were.
    The orchestration is not that wonderful, but their efforts are appreciated as well. Keith would be proud of the work. I got to meet him once, and it was less than inspiring. His music was more than he was, and his life ended like he lived it. That much talent must be hard to bear.
