They where about to but unfortunately in 2009 they cancelled to manufacture the Estoque and they kept it as only a concept vehicle.

I bought a Cayenne Turbo S last year for $20k. Full documented maintenance history. It only needed new tires. Ugly as sin, but a simple tune and exhaust upgrade and it's base 450hp laid down 590whp. I was destroying newer luxury performance car and trucks. Ended up selling it for $30k 7months later. I made just a small profit, small enough to say I broke even after the mods and simple maintenance but still enough to lease a brand new

The Porsche SUV is a blast... if my wife decides her BMW saloon is not big enough when we have kids, mommas getting a Porsche SUV or wagon.
That interior just screams Lamborghini. I think that the Urus in matte black will be the perfect car for mobster henchmen in action movies.

Yes. The Estoque was an awesome design. I would have much preferred that to the Urus.
Saw both concepts this Summer in the Lamborghini Museum. The Estoque was just an instant "This looks so awesome, I need one of those on my wall". Whereas the Urus was more like *Looking around and under it* "Ah, so it's the same base platform as a Cayenne or Touareg but with an aggresive design. Hope they don't build that thing."
The Estoque seems like a Lamborghini, the Urus seems like an idea from Audi.
Also, I think it's quite hilarious how the didn't get Porsche to give them the big carbon ceramics for the Urus, so it's stuck with Audis Economy Car like 1 pot floating Caliper brakes in the rear :D

Funny listening to you tell this story. I saw the car too at that invitation only NY event--did the customer survey on the concept. Its pretty amazing that they stay fairly close to the concept although no carbon skin seats. Only thing I wished it had a true Lambo engine Nonetheless, a good looking beast,

I work in a factory that makes structural components for Urus and man, I'm so proud of it :)
Chris Harris said in one of his social media accounts "I can't blame Lamborghini for wanting to make more $$$... but I do blame the tasteless wankers who create demand for these shit boxes." And honestly he's right... when you have a crowd of people who have very little interest in cars and simply want a LARGE car just to move your purse, lipstick and occasionally drop your kid to school only to show off your wealth using a brand product that known specifically for making exotic sports car exclusively, it really hurts the brand image from what it's known for doing rather then what it actually wants to do. Sad but true. I really hope this brings in them good money for them to keep making those mad V12 beasts. :(

If lambo is going to survive economically it does not make sense to ignore a market segment that wants bigger or "suv" type vehicles. Especially as they have already gotten the all wheel drive engineering figured out.
Seeing as this was a concept five years ago that is now being brought to market it makes me wonder if it isn't more to provide an option to the Tesla model X? From the pictures shown it seems to have come from a similar design perspective. Yes this in part is due to the necessities of aerodynamics, but you just have to wonder.
How does it hurt the brand image? They're creating more value in the brand by doing a horizontal line expansion. If anything they're strengthening the brand image.

The guys that appear on VINwiki are always so down to earth, informative, and all around awesome. There has been a Lamborghini SUV in the past though, right? The Urus was designed as a military vehicle then never commissioned, so they released a few to the public.
Jav The Ripper LM002 is the military vehicle that was dismissed, not the urus. Urus is just basically porsche/audi/bentley underneath, i wish they make an sv version with v12, the tt v8 is just too make sense for a lambo though.

With the high end suv market skyrocketing, I think it'll do well. The Bentley Bentayga, Porsche Cayenne Turbo S, and Mercedes Benz G65 AMG are a few examples of similarly prices suvs in the market. With the big Lamborghini name printed on the back, I think this car will do just fine for the company.

To be honest, I’m not sure I think Lambo should have an SUV. I’m sure there’s a market for it and people will buy it. I just don’t think Lamborghini and SUV should be mentioned in the same sentence right now, at least an SUV that looks like that. The LM002 of the 80s on the other hand looked a bit more rough around the edges, and while it wasn’t practical there was something about it that just seemed much more fitting to the brand than the Urus. It all just falls in the whole “rear mid engined” Corvette category for me. No, just no. Just my opinion....

I'm curious - when you say they "showed" it to you, was it a model? Renderings? Did they have the interior available? I'm guessing not.
It was a full size show car. It had an interior and rolled but it was not finished to the point people could sit in it.

I have never understood how the sports car/sedan/SUV have such different price points with similar tech in them. I assume the V8 is cheaper but there is a lot more materials cost in this than a Huracan for a lot less. Hmmm.
Brett Bilger, probably trickle down tech. Stuff had to be developed for the huracan, then passed down to the urus.
I worry more about trickle up - this seems like a SQ5 with a bull on it.
I think it's cheaper because they use the tech that's already devolved and for the huracan they were charging for the engineering that went into the design and software of that vehicle
They are higher performance which means they probably have higher quality and more technical specs.
Also have to remember with big names like this you're also paying for the brand. Think about it this applies to everything. there's probably super cars out there that compete with the lambo but they are totally unknown and have a tiny market so they're half the price. Look at nike as another example a jumper from them is like $80-$100 yet you can buy the same jumper without the nike swoosh and it's $20...anything produced by a big well known company is going to cost more sometimes it's better quality sometimes not. Especially once you start getting into luxury, high end or high performance categories of things the we'll known brands are going to be expensive as.
I visited Mag Lamborghini in Columbus Ohio and they actually had a 2019 customer car that the customer was coming to pick up. As we were going to leave And this guy walks in and being 13 he looks at me and he’s like “hey, kid. Wanna sit in a Lamborghini.” Of course I say yes. And then as I’m sitting in the drive seat he hands out the key and he’s like “Start it”. When I heard the one and only Lamborghini start I was in love. The roar of that v8 is beyond amazing.

I remember the rumors when I was just minding my business to get car wallpapers and then went to blogs to read more about some cars to fall into it and when it was unveiled in Beijing, maaaan it was like yesterday.
Not feeling the Urus at all. I'm sure they'll sell tons of them to social media entrepreneurs to film vlogs in while sitting in traffic in LA, but a turbo V8 Lamborghini SUV doesn't do anything for me personally.
For the cost, I'd buy a loaded Cayenne Turbo S.

I'm a music producer and relate to the feeling of artistic creations becoming less analogous. It's a fundamental nostalgia, being of a certain age, to come to understand what you appreciate so much is coming to an end by it's own device.
