Good vid. I have this Rx set up and have flown it before with the voltage sensor. One thing i didnt like about it was that i was getting low voltage alarms a couple mins into a 6-7 min flight. Found out it was reading the voltage drops under load so I wasnt really getting a resting voltage reading. It scared me at first till I figured it out. I shut off the audio prompts but left the on screen value for reference. Thanks for the snippet sir
I put in a delay so if the voltage dips below the threshold momentarily, it won't give me a warning. I also enabled auto offset but idk if that really helps.
Now that I have my TX16S finally, and now I am watching many of your videos again and making use of so many of your tips and trainings. awesome stuff. so much more to take advantage of with it . Thanks for doing these videos Jeff
@@RCVideoReviews I have a tx16s and I followed your video on how to get audio for low battery voltage from the widget can you tell me how to do the mph widget. I have the gps sensor and it’s ready for audio. Thank you for a good video on the low voltage.
Hey John, can you please help with what is the difference between Ratio and Offset setting the right voltage reading. Correct voltage reading can be achieved by adjusting either of them, so I am wondering which is which, thx
Grayson Hobby actually sells what they call the Radiomaster R168 VBAT adapter for pulling the battery voltage off and connecting it to the R168. (XT60 only) for people that maybe don’t have confidence in their soldering skills
What's up with the 'Battcheck' widget? Seems like it'd be helpful but when I try and set it up with rxbat (or any bat telem for that matter) it just says 0.0v and 0%?
John, since it only can do a 4s lipo Max..Couldnt i hook up the positive wire to the balance plug to just one cell of the battery?. So i could use vbat with a 6s lipo?..I know it would only be keeping track of 1 cell out of 6. I just thought maybe it would at least be some sort of backup insurance being able to keep track of at least 1 cell out of 6...Thoughts?,Or maybe theres a way to keep track of 4cells of a 6s pack? (using the balance port?)...
I don't know what an RB-20 is, but your question says, "two batteries", so if you're asking about two discreet voltage values, I don't think you can do that because the R168 only has one VBAT input. The key for monitoring is the sensor. Notice in the video all the logic hinged on RxBat--that is the sensor label for the VBAT pin. Without a 2nd VBAT input you can't have a discreet sensor, therefore you cannot monitor a 2nd battery.
Thanks for this great video, I've set this up on my TX16S and it's working well. Would you perhaps know how to disable the default RX battery warnings, as I now have both warnings going off? Thanks
Did you see that Radiomaster will not be making or supporting the R168 and the R161 anymore. I heard that FRSKY said that they have the patent on the D16 protocol. My question is, if I already have these receivers, how will it impact me in the long run?
As long as D16 isn't removed from the MPM module you don't have anything to worry about. If it is removed from the MPM module, don't upgrade to that release. I've already started buying alternatives to show you guys what your options are now that FrSky are acting like $^!@s
Hi John, now that they discontinued the R168, what receiver would you recommend to use with the radiomaster TX16S. I am flying the 6 channel Eflite Focke Wulf and I need 3 additional channels for an fpv gimbal. (pan, tilt and roll)
Hello.Great video! Can I set up an alert when im close to a stall speed at the same way you did with the voltage? I have some airplanes running inav with gps full telemetry.
Hey John, Is there a way to download all your sd card info? Incase you happen to delete info. Need to restore or recover sd card info. Is there a site to reinstall default info?
Sure, just copy it all to your desktop. If you want the default SD card info, you need to go to OpenTx Download: www.open-tx.org/downloads select your firmware, then scroll all the way down and click on SD Card Contents, chose your radio model. That's the default info on factory SD cards.
Just saw a video by Bill Clark. Apparently, RM has discontinued the R168 due to FrSky claiming patent on D16. I checked RM's website and they are showing it and the R161 as discontinued so no longer any firmware updates available. Just wanted to let you know

Opentx blows my mind. It's the biggest innovation in RC in the last few years that I've seen.
It is an awesome firmware for RC. Have you checked out EdgeTX yet? It picks up where OpenTX left off.
@@RCVideoReviews first off, thank you so much for the videos, they are fantastic. I'll have to try edgetx.

So there are some advanced logic techniques we can use to take care of that and I've already planned the video for it. Hang tight...

Always glad to help. Thanks for watching.
what an other excellent & informative video, what a nice puzzle, so many possibilities and a generous teacher 🙂

Excellent video! I’m going to set it up in a sailboat I’m building to keep track of the Rx battery.
Yes, this is a very nice value added feature.
Absolutely Amazing Ur the best Cheers 👍👍

Did all the above, but it doesnt READ the Battery Voltage again when I start it up ? Am i missing anything ?
What is the difference between us and eu version of the 168 radiomaster?

How is the low threshold for RxBat setup using an RB-20 with two batteries? Would we setup logical monitors for each battery independently?

what should the battery voltage range be on the radiomaster?
6.4 to 8.4v

I'd look at FlySky first. I'm not sure if they have a 9 channel though.

Would this work with a newer Spektrum RX that uses smart batteries?

can this be same with tx12 and frsky r-xsr receiver?
I don't believe r-xsr has vbat. If it does, it should work the same way.

Hey. Where can buy R168 ? Or some analog ?
R168 is out of production, but from time to time they show up at various retailers. The closest analog would be something like the FrSky XSR.
Ampersent 👌😄
You found that did you ;) You get the "Watched the whole video" bonus plan.
Nice! You've almost convinced me to purchase a TX16s.. will this work on any sbus Rx?
No, the Rx has to support VBAT as a sensor. The R168 does.
Totally first
