Just to add a bit of a dissenting opinion for anyone who may find it helpful: I also have hollow under eyes, and I find the NYX Bare With Me concealer to work just as well as the Kosas Revealer! I actually much prefer the NYX because it’s much more affordable (obviously) and because it doesn’t go bad quickly like the Kosas.

havent watched video yet but I too was a longtime kosas concealer follower till i just couldnt stand how yellow it was on me which made my undereyes look so much worse. The nyx bare with me has much more neutral shades, higher coverage, and maintains such a similar effect even once it dries down. first concealer to give me that MUA type bright undereye look while still remaining natural looking!! havent used them in a while but - if im not mistaken nyx might settle more in lines or get drier than kosas (something like that, cant remember) but tbh i jsut cope by using a very light amount because a little goes a looong way

WARNING: THIS COMMENT WILL BE LONG 😊
For those with mild under eye darkness, it might be good to use a light-reflective formula that's a shade lighter than your skin to brighten up the area, but for those dealing with a very obvious tear trough or that hollowness under the eyes, a light reflecting formula will only emphasize the hollowness more and therefore make it look darker. It’s common sense, really. Remember, light and shade. And let’s be real, an overly light or bright undereye is so obvious and looks so unnatural. Definitely not a good look in real life. Maybe on camera, with the help of filters and camera tricks, but not in real life. Because we can see, we can definitely see.
Unfortunately, I’m one of those unlucky ones that have the very deep tear troughs, very thin under eye skin that make my purple veins very visible AND dry undereye skin. Great! So.. In as much as no one wants dry crusty looking undereyes, I still haven’t found an emolient concealer that does the trick.
For hollowness, matte works best in reducing that shading caused by the ridges under the eyes. As I’m not fond of "setting", “baking” or even patting powder over my concealer, as I find it always ends up caking to some degree, I use the slightest powder by using a duo-fibre brush over it just to get rid of the shine.
If your problem is dry undereye and that’s why you’re looking for an “emollient” or “hydrating” (I find influencers over-using this term funny because there is no such thing in makeup unless it’s has skincare or it’s dewy or glossy. Maybe using “non-drying” is better?), try upping your skincare game instead. Spending more on skincare than on the never ending search for the perfect concealer is far beneficial now and in the long run. Personally, I have given up on the search. I now concentrate more on skincare which helped heaps in my undereye problem. I figured, if I can’t get rid of it (as I’m not planning on having fillers or whatnot), I might as well work on having good skin to work on. This way, I use less product and cakeiness/crepeiness is significantly reduced. I don’t put a lot under the concealer though. I do my skincare at night or if I’m super “dry” under the eyes, I do it way before makeup and remove most of it before my undereye routine.
For a heavy duty, high coverage concealer, I just use my trusty ol’ Tarte Shape Tape -because medium coverage just won’t cut it for me. And, yes, I get no dryness! I heard the Huda Beauty FauxFilter Concealer is just as good, if not better, so I might try that when I use up my TSTs.
Oh, and the Becca Eye Brightening Corrector works for me, too! It doesn’t do much help in the actual darkness caused by my veins, but I find that its texture helps in reducing dryness that the matte concealer may cause occasionally for me. It does not add shine or make the shine come though the concealer too much which I prefer. Any shine caused by sweat, humidity or whatnot may again be dusted off ever so sllghtly with the duo-fibre brush and tiny amount of powder.
    Happy Concealing! 💕

I have deep-set eyes and therefore a deep tear track as well. I get grey undertones that pop through most concealers, but a light peach color corrector applied *SUPER* thinly under my concealer has made a world of difference. For anyone wanting to try this, I recommend testing with a peach lipstick, cream blush, or even an eyeshadow before purchasing an actual color corrector to see if it’ll work for you.
Since my grey is from the blue/purple veins under my skin, the opposite color (peachy) balances things visually very nicely. My only word of caution is to really sheer it and the concealer out so you don’t end up with a ton of product and the dreaded “cake”. But then, I am old af, so I go super light with concealer anyway. Shape tape is too heavy for me at my age. I am still looking for my favorite, but have been using the Maybelline Age Rewind for the last year or so and for drugstore it’s very nice. No settling when tapped out, though I do wish it was a tad more emollient.

I have suuuuper deep set eyes with dark circles / hollowness too (thanks, Italian genes) and I TOTALLY feel this struggle. For what it’s worth, the best concealer I’ve found for my under eye area is the Figlow one State of Kait uses a lot. It’s soooo expensive which is annoying but it has excellent coverage (I only use a couple dots and that is NOT my usual method) and it’s self setting, so I don’t run into the setting powder challenges. I find it pairs best with either the Make reverse emulsion or Phytosurgence verdant forcefield as skin prep, it definitely needs a good moisturizing base with a little grip to it underneath to perform best!!

The NARS soft matte, ABH magic concealer, Pat Mcgrath and Huda Faux filter are the concealers so far that have covered my dark circles really well, especially if I use a colour corrector. Most of the concealers you get along with are the ones I prefer as well. Also have hollows and am using a retinoid (Altreno). I love Kosas for under the eyes (just hate how it starts to stink after awhile) + Luminous Silk for spots. Other concealers I love and use: Shiseido Synchro Skin Correcting Gel Stick (for acne), Shape Tape (fresh acne spots, not dry spots, applied with small brush and patted in with fingertip, Lisa Eldridge-style). I also use the Ben Nye corrector palette to press orangey-peach shades under my eyes with my fingers to correct some of the blueness/purple, then apply concealer ontop. The Ben Nye is just dry enough that it stays in place under a concealer like Kosas. The Dior Forever also works well under my eyes, assuming they aren't a bit dry.
Someone else in the comments mentioned stepping up skincare if you have dry undereyes, but for me, it's just been a product of getting older. I think the emollient concealers also just sit under the eyes a bit like a heavy, pleasant cream, keeping it looking fresh and bright.
One tip for undereyes that I learned from a dermatologist: If you're undereye is really dry, apply a thick layer of moisturizer to it and then take some plastic wrap you've cut into rectangles, and press it on. Keep it on throughout the evening and it'll help really nourish that region.

Saie looked greasy on me and kosas would dry out my undereyes (even though I have oily skin) but the armani is my favorite concealer ever. I use it all the time and I had way better luck with that one than the others.

Love how in depth this is, thank you! I’m on the hunt for a new concealer. I’ve used the Maybelline fit me for years and agree that the formula has changed and feels cheaper. Started using it when it was in a squeeze tube and much preferred the formula then. I can’t find a perfect shade match now either 😢 I wish they took the tube formula and put it in this packaging. If they had, it would be the only concealer I ever buy 😂

I am much older than you, but we both suffer from the hollows under the eyes. I did not have this problem when I was your age....but definitely developed it with age. The kosas concealer seems to be a favorite for all ages...good on kosas! I am a concealer junkie, and I really enjoyed this video. Tfs! 💜💜💜

Hi Amanda! I too have hollowness under my eyes. I also deal with blueness near the tear duct area too! I am quite self conscious of them, and have tried a countless number of concealers/blue coverups over many years. I found that Jones Road face pencils are very effective at both blueness reduction and flattening the appearance of hollowness. (Like you’d want to try another product probably). They are so effective for me, that I always have backups! If you are still in the market for something to try on the under eye hollowness, I think you’d be impressed. I use shade 11 for blueness coverage and it really neutralizes it very well! I too am extremely picky when it comes to concealers. There is also a really decent shade range as well! 👌🏾

I have hollow dark under eyes and I thought that an orange colour corrector would be perfect for me since I have brown skin - but I realised I'm on the paler side so a peachy toned colour corrector would be better so I'm going to try the elf ones! Always loved your videos!

I primarily use concealer to spot conceal so our needs are very different, but I took the plunge and tried the Cle de peau concealer. I have to report the hype is real 😭. That and the Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer are my favorites. I also have a medium cool olive skin tone so it's really hard to find colors that blend naturally, and these are it!
I used to use the LA girl and Fenty concealers for years. I still like the fenty for correcting (using a pinker shade), and it sticks well to my skin.
The Armani concealer is one I've wanted to try but when I swatched it in store it left a glitter residue... maybe the tester was contaminated... I should try other shades to see.

I’m about to turn 48 and I’ve never really used concealer in the past but I’ve really been enjoying playing with my makeup a lot more for about a year or so now. I guess I’m just lucky that my under eyes have never really given me a problem, so I used to just use my foundation there. But lately I’ve started using concealer to brighten things up and I really like the way it looks. I’ve bought SO MANY different concealers this year and I think my favorite ones so far have been the Dior Forever Skin Correct, the Kosas and the Armani Luminous Silk. And I have a few correctors and I find that the Becca/Smashbox one is nice all by itself because the shade actually works as concealer for my skin tone! Thanks for all this information! Although I would have saved a lot of money if I had seen this video a year ago 😂

Amanda, I have legendary eye hollows. When will you be doing your video on how to hide them? I'm excited. Everyone talks about concealing dark circles. You're the first that has mentioned actual hollows. It's anatomical, not due to aging. My surgeon told me if you have hollows under your eyes, go look at photos of yourself from childhood and you will probably see the same hollows!

I really appreciate insight that is specific - because I also want my products to perform in a particular way. Would love if you could do an all natural - light coverage makeup product guide. Because I love your glowy dewy base with wet looking eyes vibe. It’s perfect! And I don’t like much coverage to all of my products (concealer, tint (if wearing any), blush, and bronzer. Thank you so much!

Hey Amanda! I don’t have severe hollows, but I have deep set eyes, which also cause a shadow. I also have SUPER dry skin so it ends up we like the same things! ( but I’m also very olive so I unfortunately don’t have a shade match in kosas)
If you haven’t tried it yet, I highly suggest the Ilamasqua concealer pens. Creamy, not too heavy, hydrating with a cooling tip that isn’t messy and makes sense.

I think this is so interesting! Thanks for choosing my favorite topic.
I came to a similar conclusion in the past few years, that my problem is hollowness and shadowing more so than pigmentation. I’m like you in that I probably buy concealer more than any other cosmetics item, but I’m probably 20 years older though and my top picks are some that weren’t your favorites, so I thought I would add that perspective as well.
    My favorites…
    For color correction:
Charlotte Tilbury Magic Vanish Color Corrector
Nanoblur Colour Corrector - Peach - this is a new favorite of mine. If I put this on first, some days I don’t even bother with concealer. I find it layers well with the rest of these products as well.
Sisley Phyto Cernes Eclat, limited color range, but if this works for you, it’s spectacular. The price is also spectacular, but I’m going on 3 years on my first tub and it still works perfectly.
    Concealer:
Clarins Instant Concealer, I never hear anyone talk about this one, and it’s probably the one I’d take to a desert island, with the caveat that it now says “new” on the website and I’m worried they have reformulated it.
Lancôme Teint Idole All Over Concealer, this one really works for me, if I use a brush especially.
Reckon Color Stay Skin Awaken 5-in-1, this is very similar to the Lancôme IMO and a solid drugstore buy
NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer, a little more full coverage
Not technically concealer, but works for me as a light to medium one, Westman Atelier foundation stick
    Brightening:
Revlon Color Stay Skin Awaken 5-in-1, both Universal Brighteners (pink and yellow) are great, the pink works for me, but turns my mother mauve under the eye. The yellow is a great fit for her though and I can use that one in a pinch as well, but i prefer the pink (enough to have bought 4 of them, just in case). It also can be used over top of other concealers for a touch up that doesn’t pile on the coverage, but just refreshes everything.

I’ve commented this under some other comments so I figured I should make a main one here:
Like many of you, I also have dry, hollow, dark under eyes. (Chilean genes yay!). As I’ve gotten older, it just gets worse. I also have pretty full cheeks so it accentuates my under eyes even more. I’ve tried probably hundreds of concealers in my 15+ years of wearing makeup. Here’s what I’ve finally found that works for me the best, hopefully it can help some others too!
For reference: I don’t actually wear foundation anymore, just CT Flawless Filter/Elf Halo Glow Filter. (This method still works pretty well on top of most foundations I have though).
I then put Armani Luminous Silk Concealer (in a shade that matches my skin tone, not a brightening shade) in the center of my face and blend outwards. I focus mainly on my nose and cheeks since I have large pores - this concealer literally does wonders for any imperfections, I swear, just gives such a beautiful finish. I do apply it under my eyes, but in a very thin layer, a little goes a long way. I use a sponge, but dense brushes work as well.
Then I apply my Hourglass Vanish Airbrush concealer (a shade or two lighter than my skin tone) just in the inner and outer corners of my undereyes, SPARINGLY. This one also goes a looooong way. I also use it in other areas of my face that I want to bring forward.
I believe the HG one has some type of particles in it that gives it that “airbrushed” look, lemme tell you, it works. I never have to set heavily under my eyes, even in humid climates. It never creases, never looks cakey, and brings that hallowness forward.
For reference: As I mentioned it works well in very humid climates (where I’m from), but I’ve found it works amazingly in the desert climate I live in now.

I'll be looking out for that vid to tackle hollowness. I actually have been thinking I like that Saie concealer lately, but didn't know why and questioned it when I saw some bad reviews. You know how it can be difficult figuring out if you actually like a concealer you think you like? I don't feel so crazy now lol.
I am now certain matching my skintone looks better on me tho. Realized that with the older Flower concealer that I thought was too dark but is actually a perfect match. But I'm open to techniques that brighten.
