    Have to add an addendum to #3&4 (thermostat) as I had this problem this week on a no heat call myself. Customer said they turned thermostat switch to "HEAT", and no heat. Upon arrival I looked at it and the switch was in fact on heat. However, on closer inspection, I noticed the display still showed "COOL". I flipped the switch to "OFF" then back to "HEAT". The display then showed HEAT. Problem solved, at least for now. I didn't replace the thermostat but suggested to them that if it happened again that I would advise having it replaced as the switch contact may be bad. And as you say, simple solutions are the best solutions! As always, enjoy your videos Jay. Keep up the good work!

    Thank you ! Another easy thing to check is the inflow air and outflow exhaust pipes to be sure they are now blocked ( snow, insects, etc.). My neighbor's AC would not go on. Company came and pronounced the thermostat bad. I lent him an extra thermostat, known good, and still no AC. I went to circuit board and tested the 3A fuse- blown. What happened was their painter did not protect the wiring at the thermostat ( or shut off the power at furnace) and it probably shorted the circuit. 10 seconds later: AC.

    On the two gas furnaces we have had the flame sensor failed - must be pretty common?

    • @WordofAdviceTV
      @WordofAdviceTV  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That is the most common furnace problem. A dirty flame sensor. It's literally just a steel rod so cleaning it is enough, no need to replace unless you simply prefer to have a new one. If you're interested at all, watch this video and you will learn more about the flame sensor/how it actually works than you ever wanted to 😄: th-cam.com/video/-QKHz1Mv9Ew/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Jsf2fverkNuNJmIQ

    A quick check between R and C will eliminate most of the early checks... plus it's safe because you're working on the low voltage side. Finding 24V between R and C with a meter set to voltage means breaker, customer switch, door switch (including all wiring) and transformer are OK. Call for heat and the flash code if present will direct you to the fault. If you don't get 24V between R and C you will need to check all the stuff in the first few checks.

    • @WordofAdviceTV
      @WordofAdviceTV  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      If you look at the back of your furnace door, there should be a label that lists what all the error codes mean. On top of that list it should explain what a blinking red light signifies. It could mean a few different things depending on the brand of your furnace. It could mean normal operation, furnace is in standby mode, soft lockout, or a safety switch is tripped.

I looked at this ignitor module's LED light. The LED light is nothing. I use my digital meter and point to the transformer- 120VAC is okay, and 24VAC is good. is the Ignitor module bad? This FENWEL ignitor module is too expensive, about $500.

      @WordofAdviceTV  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      This usually means that you either have a bad breaker or there is short somewhere. To begin with it would be good to narrow down where the short is. I would start by turning the breaker off (and verify that it is off with a multimeter or voltage detector) and then disconnect the power wires going into the furnace. Make sure the disconnected wires are not touching any metal and turn the breaker back on. If it still trips, then you know the problem has nothing to do with the furnace. If it doesn't trip, then you know that the furnace is shorting out somewhere inside the unit.
