62 yo and have had a Turbo Levo for about 6 weeks. Upgraded from a 2021 Stumpjumper. Levo is a total game changer (wife got one also). Take longer rides with WAY more vert. No problem keeping up with friends way younger and more experienced. My technical skills are definitely improving especially on climbing. Last weekend did lots of climbing with beastly riders and easily kept up. I even took it on a 27 mile group gravel ride with some spandex wearing road bikers and had no issue keeping up. I spend most of the time in Eco mode and I'm still getting great cardio with more time in zone 2/3 instead of 4/5. Range is ridiculously good. Example 11miles, 1200 vert, fast climbing in mostly in Trail mode with 23% battery used. We love our Levo's!
I told myself I wasn’t getting an ebike till I turned 65. Well I turned 65, and after a MTB trip to Quebec and Pennsylvania, I decided to get an ebike on the last climb up Jake’s Rocks, PA. I just can’t keep up with my younger friends anymore. I’ve had my Orbea Rise for two weeks now and I’m loving it! I still had the power to get over the technical sections, but if they were on a climb it was taking a lot longer to recover. Now I can just keep going. I’ve been riding mostly eco and trail mode and still getting a great workout and I don’t feel the need to take a recovery day.
Completely agree with you ktmkirby. Recently got Levo's for my wife and I. I'm 62 and can now keep up with my younger friends. It's still great exercise and fun without completely being gassed. I'm less than 3 hours from Jakes Rocks. Are the blues very technical? Might take a a trip there.
@@ktmkirby thank you! Climbing won't be an issue for my wife with the Levo 😁 Now when we get to the top of a long climb she has a smile on her face, instead of giving me the look "I want to kill you" 🤣 Thanks for the info. Happy trails.
Great video, it was nice to see an honest assessment of effort and battery life rather than an e-bike video rationalizing how you get more exercise when you own an e-bike.
I'm 76 and my e-bike lets me do trails I'd have to do a " hike a bike" on. And then I'd be too worn out to have any fun. I'm having more fun than ever!!!
I’ve rode over 1000 miles on my levo. Age 60. I love exploring the hills in the forest I live beside. Also: can tow 8 yr old grandson up long long grinds. I bought the levo SL for riding single track at local mtn bike trail systems. Lighter, less help but more fun keeping up with riders half my age. Cheers
That’s exactly why I got my e-bike last week. To use it as a recovery ride. 2 days of 4 hours and 4000 feet of climbing and 20-30% grades - I need a recovery ride. I used it just once and love it!! I’m waiting for my wild wrap to wrap the bike. Yeah, I’m that guy. Lol😊
Welcome to the club! Now try to find some technical climbs that acoustic bikes won't make. This is my favorite part of ebiking! It will get your heart rate sky high. I have 8000 miles on my levo expert.
Awesome to see you enjoying the e-bike and thank you for riding in eco mode to show the haters it’s still a workout! I’m 60 and ride my Orbea Rise almost exclusively in eco mode here in the East Tennessee mountains
Great video to explain how much fun an emtb is. My 2021 Turbo Levo is nearing 9,000 miles (no issues aside from warranty’ed power cable) It lets me ride about 3x my analog distance/vertical. Recently did an out the door all of Stowe VT ride: 40 miles, 4006’ vertical in 3hr48min and used 79% battery (99% Eco mode, battery recharge count 165, battery health 100%). Amazing bike and specialized’s quality keeps this 66yr old out riding every day till it snows 🏂🏔️
I bought the 2022 S-Works Turbo Levo last week had to drive from Oklahoma to Austin for pickup. The way it handles in the flatlands of Oklahoma is just a blast. We are three and half hours from Bentonville so that will be a great test for all day of fun.
fun levo facts... 1) if you take off that little plastic peace on the chain stay, it will fit a 29er with a 2.5 tire. If you are worried about rocks getting caught between the chain stay and the frame, just cover it with some duct tape. 2) the levo loves upforking. 3) 155mm cranks rule on tech climds 4) the cascade long shock mod is amazing.
I love my Canyon Torque ON mullet with the 900Whr battery 85 Nm motor at 58 years young. I can send it, really stable at high speed and I’ve ridden up to 5 hrs in eco.
The Turbo Levo is an incredible purchase. In fact, the best purchase I ever made. The only downside is a minor amount of narrow minded, haters. Those who would use a plane to travel across the sky, boats on water, and cars along the land. Yet, they scoff at ebikes??? The lack of insight is baffling.
Try and use microtune to get more battery life, sometime I’ll run the motor at 10 / 20% when eco has to much power or 60% / 70% when you want a bit more than trail but turbo is too much.
Dude you know ebikes are EVIL! And you single handily destroyed that entire trail system by riding more and having more fun! And admit it, your heatbeat never got over 12! And you made all of the non ebikers mad and jealous! LOL. Great video as always. Glad you enjoyed your first time. I have been riding my ebikes and emtbs for a couple of years, never going back, especially as I get older. I also live in Florida, wait until you take it to Santos, I guarantee many smiles.
A new battery is way better than an older one, unfortunately. That's just the way it is. When I first got my Giant Trance X +0 I could ride 6 laps on my favorite local trail (5.3 miles). Now, 2 years later I can only get 4 laps in. The battery checks at 98% capacity but only 68% health in the app. I only ride in trail mode n I ride 5 days a week. 2 laps in the winter and only one in the summer per day. At 76 YO,.
That is a really loud motor. I am looking at e-bikes but looking for a class1 motor with minimal assist and quiet. What are your thoughts on sound and motor size. I recently tried a Pivot AM and found that motor a bit too much.
Lower powered motors like those on the Transition Relay and Specialized Turbo Levo SL are really good options. It sounds like that’s a good choice for you.
Climb faster to descend more, miles & smiles. I've ridden e-bikes and my only issues are the noise and the handling dynamics are chonky. Need time to get used to it when I'm pushing on the downhills...
In your mind and for how you ride: do a lot of the benefits of the emtb disappear if you don't live anywhere near terrain that offers sustained climbs followed by a long descents?
I get a lot of benefit from the eBay on my local trails which have no sustained climbs. I just like riding at higher speeds to practice my handling skills for descending.
@@ClintGibbs Makes sense, thats what I found as well. Though one part that I cannot escape is that my HR is significantly lower on flatter trails when riding the emtb, because my bike handling isn't good enough to average 15mph on twisty singletrack vs the 10mph I ride on my pedal bike. Instead, my emtb maybe gets me 1-1.5mph faster on average with 25-35bpm lower average HR. Is that something you have run into? Or can you reach a similar/higher HR because your bike handling skills are so good that can fully leverage the emtb speed? To me this is the biggest con of the emtb and the frustrating flaw with "more laps in the same amount of effort and time!!" videos influencers put out (not you). If you don't live near a real mountain it seems really hard to actually get twice as many laps in, for the same effort, when you're twisting your way through tight singletrack.
38.5 miles of trail riding on a recovery day, not bad I'd say😁 So many variables to explore on an ebike. One new thing I do, no food, no snacks. I like that in-need-of-food feeling that develops in my stomach over the hours, knowing I can just re-program my efforts if I really have to.
I see all the pluses of e-bikes. I still choose not to. Maybe some day. I do think it’s a bit humorous the constant need for ebikers to tell everyone they are still getting a workout. 😅
@ClintGibbs Industry terms? I've never heard or seen Specialized or Trek marketing the words acoustic or analogue bikes. 🤔 Those terms were created with malicious intent exclusively by eBikers to steal the word bicycle.
😂, yea, and the ironic thing is acoustics is the study of sound and those ebikes sound so loud. Two of my riding buddies ride ebikes and we sound like a bunch of bees going through the woods, I just can't get used to it but I fixed them by putting I 9s on my bike and now they must suffer 😂.
@ClintGibbs It's fun talking about different terms for me. One of my favorite questions to ask GMBM is why do we put a saddle on a seat post 😂. And why clips or clipless and by definition they are snaps. Funny thing is I'm a back woods country boy and no nothin about grammar 😂

I rented a Levo Pro SL in Bentonville & it was amazing! Able to get in 30+ miles and connect a ton of trails..amazing bike
My first ride on my Turbo Levo, I did like 6 miles of uphill climb. Impossible on my old bike. The best purchase ever.

Fire mountain in Cherokee nc,
And stump house tunnel near walhalla sc are both stellar and e bike friendly 🎉
Can’t wait to get back to stumphouse. That place rules

Riding the Black bear Rampage course. Nice and completely shows the advantage of an ebike.
It all starts with, "I'll just do a recovery ride in eco." AKA "I'll just take my new car to the 7-11 and never take it out of 2nd gear."
Thanks great video. Beautiful Ocoee. I hope you tried the country fried steak at Ocoee Diner!
You should get up to Waldens Ridge that place is E-Bike heaven its free to.
I rode one a few times. It’s great going up but I don’t like it going down. I am pretty active on my bike and it’s much harder to throw around.

Clint. Did you mention which tires you had front and rear? 2.4 or
2.6 for your ebike? Brand?
I’ve traveled through there several years and wondered how those trails were.
What trail system?
I was thinking the same question 😂😂. Waiting for the answer

Seeing the flags. That’s got to be the ocoee river. See later in comments I was right. Good video
What year is it? And is it the Comp Carbon? I have to keep it on Eco the whole time.
Comp carbon. 2022 but it hasn’t changed much since then other than slightly smaller tires
At the end of my bike ride and Im suffering and want to go home is when I wish I had a E bike.
You need to do a fleet update soon. Im losing track.... 😉
I was actually thinking about that yesterday. I’ve got one more bike I’m building up and then I will do it.

Love my emtb. For the people who don't, don't buy one. Leader of Russia pushes his beliefs on people also.
Analogue bike? Acoustic bike? The only correct term is, normal bike.
Just industry terms…
