Doves are so under-rated, it's criminal... How can bands slip under the radar like these boys. Yeah, okay, a lot of publicity can ruin a band in the long run, the egos start clashing, the arguments over royalties and publishing start when the money starts rolling in, but I would've loved to have seen this band get a tad more success, they deserved it... Decent band, decent blokes.
FuzzyDunlop so true , they hit and deep with a frequency that resonates with people, and holds up a mirror for people who are ready to see it, and look inward .Sorry went off on one then! peace.
onepinkrose x agreed. I like Elbow, but Doves were better. They were simply amazing. I'm in the USA and saw them a few times here. I still listen to them daily
They certainly deserve more recognition, but at the end of the day they got two number 1 albums, that's a fucking amazing achievement. I'm kinda glad they never went astronomical.
What really amazes me is that their album called The Last Broadcast is among the 1001 albums you must hear before you die. I had not even heard about Doves or any of their songs until I read this. But the band just proves why they are mentioned in that book! That album rocks!
So many of their songs mean so much to me. Ups, downs and everywhere in betweens. Been lucky enough to see you from leisure centres to forests. Thank you boys, I so hope to see you again. If it’s not meant to be, I’ll keep listening and always be grateful.
I love my music and this has to be my fav band of all time, I can think of a track I don't love. Met Jimmy once in Cornwall before the Eden gig, he spent 10 minutes talking to me, an absolute gent.
Saw the band ttour this album in Cardiff University, they were just getting big and it was amazing, Delgados supported them almost equally amazing, check out album all you need is hate to hear the songs they were playing. Doves rock
I love the slamming drums on this track, constant punchy unchanging, just there! the bass that skips along with them and the feisty guitar that just slams along and absolute masterclass in how a song should be put together
@Snyltetast I'm glad they're not as big as coldplay or U2. Sometimes when bands become too popular, they start to commercialize their sound, to pander to the new audience, who doesn't really understand the music. It happened with phonics and gorrilaz (first albums for both bands were best). I'm a big doves fan, but have lost them a bit with the last album. Again, I consider their first album to be their best (second was brilliant aswell). Becoming too popular could kill the inspiration.
Holy backing track Batman! I like the band but there's a lot of extra vocals/guitar coming through. Sometimes I wish they'd ditch the samples and stuff for a few songs, sort of defeats the object of being a live show if half of it is from a tape
@TheBornAnnoyed What I said isn't 'wrong', it's my opinion. I haven't yet given my opinion on coldplay or U2. All I said is that I hope doves don't become as big as them. Coincidentally I liked U2's earlier music, but think that they've been churning out crap since the mid-ninties, either to make money, or because they feel that they have to be producing something. I also think that coldplay became a bit too self indulgent after the second album.
As a manc i love this. I reckon everyone should love this. I went school with the guitarists nephew. Shitty claim to fame. I also went school with danny welbeck + college with kasper schemiachel. Scored past schemiachel at break. Near post goal, nothing fancy. But when i saw portugal drew with denmark + ronaldo didnt score, in my eyes that means im the better player. Welbeck, schemiachel were just normal guys at school college. Nobody knew theyd make it or win owt. Just all jumpers for goalpoasts stuff but as i say i played with the nephew of doves guitarist, scored past schemichael (which clearly makes me a ballon d’or candidate in my eyes) and welbeck well, meh. Sorry danny son. Your bro wayne can suck CT’s teets xx
@TheBornAnnoyed I understand that bands need to make money from their music. The point I was making about commercialism is that when the main inspiration for making music is money, the music lacks true inspiration and becomes lifeless. In my opinion, it's not REAL music. But that's just my opinion.
what a good band live .......... but he needs to get a left Handed Bass it look quiet strange playing a right handed upside down and not even restrung lol
One of the greatest songs ever written.
Amen!!
Could not agree more! 🤟🏻
The favourite band of people who know about music
Best comment ever !!!

Whats worse is to how elbow have gotten the success that Doves should have.
+Bob LobLaw Elbows first album 'asleep in the back was great' but dove are in a different class.
FuzzyDunlop so true , they hit and deep with a frequency that resonates with people, and holds up a mirror for people who are ready to see it, and look inward .Sorry went off on one then! peace.

Best album ever made

The best band of this century.
Remember this used to be played before Man City games. What a tune!!!
yeah true, I remember this being played when we won there with the original team from Liverpool, but that was way before Man City became FC Dollars
Jools is right! " NO more acting, We want the truth!" and it's Doves!!!!!
Is that what he said at the start? I thought he said something in Dutch that I couldn't understand.
I love my music and this has to be my fav band of all time, I can think of a track I don't love. Met Jimmy once in Cornwall before the Eden gig, he spent 10 minutes talking to me, an absolute gent.
Adam Jessney pure underrated band.love them
My favourite song of all time from my favourite band of all time. Today is going to be a great day. Stay young kids.
Always young,55 but still dig this. Hopefully see them soon when tour is announced
Take a moment to respect the singer is playing a right handed bass upside down , left handed and singing at the same time
Very under appreciated.....Great Band
British rock I miss so much.
Liviing in the US is great but tje music isn't gritty and a part of what made me.
When the second best band to be linked with your football club is Oasis...great to have you back lads
I can agree on this even being red.
one of the best live bands ever
Yeah, he looks constantly surprised he's playing the drums!
Saw the band ttour this album in Cardiff University, they were just getting big and it was amazing, Delgados supported them almost equally amazing, check out album all you need is hate to hear the songs they were playing. Doves rock
