Finally finished your book this week sir and just wanted to say thanks for your service and the amazing insight you provided! Loved the entire book and all the stories. Now I’m just waiting for the position to open up and apply!
Awesome. Thanks for the message and support in reading the book. If you’re ever surfing the web with time on your hands I’d be grateful for a review. Thanks and best of luck.
One of the most interesting and quite tough job as a DSS agent. I do really like and interested in this kind of career but the things is I'm not an American and hav tats. Anyway, can't wait to see new coming up videos about DSS's activities from you.
After reading Fred Burton’s “Ghost” - a book about his time as a counterterrorism agent for the DSS, I’ve been wondering what I can do to be picked for that job. I’ve been an MP on active duty for the past 9 years and I have 2 years left before my enlistment is done. I recently earned my master’s degree in International Relations (concentration in national security), I also have a Certificate in Terrorism Studies, and I’m about to start Arabic classes. What else do you think I should do to increase my chances of making it into the Counterterrorism Bureau?
Hey bud, you are qualified for the job you just need to apply when the vacancy announcement comes out. There is no special training or skill set in advance of the application that will make you a “shoe in” for a DS special agent position. Your process will be the same as the others. Also note, DS doesn’t have counter terrorism agents. That term, and job, is antiquated and not used in the job any longer.
Question for you boss. Currently Active Duty 11b and looking at HSI. Obviously that's not you. My question regarding DSS is I understand they go anywhere for Diplomatic Security. States and nationally. So is there any way for yall to just stay state side? Or is it a "Hey, you go here, no questions asked." The reasoning for me asking that is because I spent 11 months overseas(Middle East) and I'd personally like to be stateside.
Hey Brennon, apologies for delay. I don’t see the TH-cam messages often. In short, you can stay domestic in DC area for a while but you’ll change jobs multiple times and at some point you’ll be sent out overseas for at least a one year tour. It’s really difficult for a DS agent to stay in one location (outside of the DC area) for more than a few years. I hope this helps.

Still waiting to hear back. Applied beginning of December, I’m aware it will take a while but no big deal. Thanks for the informative videos!
How did it go?

Can you be a DSS agent with 2 years of law enforcement with no college degree?
Negative. A degree is required, no matter your experience.
