It's amazing how audio snobs can explain why just about every keyboard is garbage, and then guys like Jexus can show you how every keyboard can be incredible.
JJ K there’s a difference in synth sound and audio quality. The quality of the OSCs, filter, etc. are evident regardless of the quality of the video’s audio. I have this board, so I may have an advantage. I’ll say this, I play it more than I play my $3000 Oberheim OB-6
JJ K Brian Taylor I owned one of these in the past as well. Full bodied and brilliant. The MS2000 pulls off classic organ and clav sounds quite well while also offering all the tonal possibilities you'd want in a polyphonic synth. It was a lot to deal with though, in terms of adjustments of the virtual patchbay. That I will say.
I love my MS2000. It's so much fun, sounds great, versatile and looks crazy good, very inviting. Just want to play it all day long. Many synths come and go...this thing stays! You are very talented and creative. Love your demo of this great instrument. Thank you and Korg👏👏👏
Great vid mate. Also love the distorted video quality - makes it much easier to concentrate on the actual 'Sound', without being distracted by HD pixels :)
The designers at Korg did a great job with the MS2000. Everything that made the old synths great is put into one nice neat package with incredible sounds
Proudly owner of one of these since it was released in 2000. I often read of someone that has sold his one, and then regrets about it. Don't sell it. Never. There are better synths than this, of course, in the whole galaxy, but comparing its features with the price is almost ten out of ten. And the sound... of course is a virtual analogue, but try the A9 preset or the D9 and tell yourself, if that is not one of the best bass synhs ever heard. Don't you dare to ever sell it, if you've got one.
I sold mine. It sounds shit. This demo of it still sounds shit. Audio snob? Yes because sat next to my Access Virus you can very much tell why I used it as a foot stool for 10 years
Totally understanding. Exact same thing for me. Had it many years, made many trance songs using presets, then it sat in the cupboard as I moved on to motorbikes. Then I meet someone wo uses Massive VST, I got back into music, learned about oscillators, now I realise that I was only using the MS2000 to about 10% of its potential.
I love the look of MS2000 looks like something from a late 60’s or early 70’s Sci-fi flick. I dig this synth but still haven’t put my hours in enough on it
Excellent video! When I first get my hands on a synth it seems like the sky's the limit. Then I begin to understand the limitations of the instrument. Thankfully, there are people on the internet with fantastic editing tips that have opened new sonic possibilities with the instruments I already own. My first decent synth was the Prophet-600 polysynth.
Yeah, after all these years I still keep coming back to 5.13 and the following. One day I’ll have to turn it into a full track and send any/all credits/cash to WC Olo Garb.
hehehe. Everywhere I seem to look on the intahwebs everyone is arguing over which synth is better, which manufacturer... which technology... Cant everyone just agree that Synths are just Beautiful. :D
My cousin just gave me an MS2000R that he found abandoned in his friend's apartment (missing the power supply, I ordered one, should be here in a few days) and I really hope there's nothing wrong with it. Can't wait to start playing with this thing, it would be my first sorta full-blown synth (all I have are a few Korg microsynths and VSTs)
Exactly right! Everything is going to hit analog (speakers, earbuds, etc.) at some point because the air's gotta move to make sound! Synths are beautiful. I got hooked to cool noises when I was about 5. I had a shortwave radio and I used to tune in and listen to the transatlantic highspeed data transmissions. Cool grinding stuff with subtle patterns.
I've had my MS 2000 for about 6 years. Kind of stopped using it for awhile (in favor of newer gear) but recently have been playing it much more often. I have recently been using a Voyager, which trained me much more extensively in synthesis creation and application, and now going back to the 2000, it makes me realize just how comprehensive an instrument it actually is. Considered selling it on a number of occasions, but I'm very happy now that I didn't. I now consider it a quality purchase.
I'm having a massive mid life crisis and collect synths, but, I still don't have as many synths as you! Also, you're better at playing them. Amazing demo's that make me want to collect more.
My favorite. Amazing what you did with this 4 voice thing. So fkn sick. I sold my JP8080 some time after seeing this. Your new one for the xd is beautiful but this one! Why have I not got one of these yet? The racks come up often.
Czysta miazga. Ilez tu jest zarabistych motywow z potencjalem na bardzo dobre numery. Klimaty z potworkami - poezja. Smaczki, jakosc VHS - wisienki na torcie. Cos wiecej, niz tylko prezentacja syntha. Ale i bez smaczkow brzmienia i arpeggia wzbudzaja mocne zainteresowanie. Pozdrawiam.
I used to be an analog facist bastard, but you Jexus, have shown me the way, you are the ultimate proof that digital and virtual analog can sound insanely good, I especially love the patch at 05:15 and forward, thank you for these amazing videos, I will never doubt a synthesizer because of it's synthesis method again!
I am, have been, and ALWAYS WILL BE proud of owning this spectacular and amazing piece of equipment!!!! Would never trade this fantastic synthesizer even if I was offered all the gold of this world!!!!!!
bylooo osstro..ale dopiero od 4 minuty..niskie tony ten synth ma taak miękko chrupiące ze włosy jeży...chociaz niektore z wysokich też brzmia zjawiskowo..no ale i tak najlepsze zostało na koniec..greetings
this is awesome! this is how it needs to be, the real power of synths. i know its a virtual analog synth, but someone who don't now, truly things this is a analog synth.
Bought one a couple of months for a nickle and a dime almost as new. A gem! Sounds nastier than some of the other (real) analog stuff I got and at least it stays in tune ;-) brilliant patches by the poster!
I usually buy high end gear so I don't have a lot of stuff as a consequence but man I was so tempted with this synth, it sounded really good to me and fun. Yeah its not a kurz, moog, or a spectralis but you know joy can come in many forms.
youre vids are one reason why im so crazy bout synths.their sound is so amazing!by the way...you know it...but youve got an ear for music and sounds...
I think some of the sounds on this video are using mod sequences (which aren't available on the MK), plus these all sound like amazing custom patches. But yeah, the sound engine is the same on the MK and the MS2000.
Weird relationship with this synth. The first time I played in in the store, I loved it. Didn't buy it though and thought about it for years. Then finally decided I needed to get one used, and couldn't find one with keys, so bought the rack mount. Now, however, it sounds a bit digital and stale, though I like the cold Korg sound generally. It has some crazy arpeggiation controls. I need to spend more time with it. I imagine there's no reason the rack mount would sound any different than the keyboard.
Yeah it certainly is! The ms 2000 requires some time to uncover all its capabilities, but once you do, it's an awesome machine!!!!!!! I'm so happy as well with my choice of buying one back in 2001!!!!
The micro Korg is a shortened version of the MS2000. I personally believe that the sounds are the same but the MS2000 has a sequencer and arpegiator and some more sounds control. But otherwise the same
Sounds like a really cool synth to have around if you wanna start a Devo tribute band. I actually like the 'primitive' proto-synth sound of 4 voices. Ive always got my Juno/OB-x if I want really thick, lush string or synth lead sounds. This synth appears to be a lot more closly in line with what synths were originally intended to sound like. Been a Roland and Oberheim guy my whole life. But this is one Korg that I wouldnt mind having in my arsenal.

But the synth sounds pretty bad in the video isn't it?
No, it sounds amazing.
JJ K ????bad???? Compared to what?!

Glad u like it:>
Because of this video and the fact this synth was used in the entire Metroid Prime soundtrack, I bought this a few years back as my first synth.
I’ll never understand why synth manufacturers don’t throw sacks of cash at this guy to make presets.
Maybe he does just that?
They should, his patches are typically so much cooler than the stock patches.
Because they want to keep all those sacks of cash for themselves
this guy is one of the few artists I've seen online doing synth demos.

Jexus, the best youtuber video tutorial on synth!
I love my MS2000. It's so much fun, sounds great, versatile and looks crazy good, very inviting. Just want to play it all day long. Many synths come and go...this thing stays! You are very talented and creative. Love your demo of this great instrument. Thank you and Korg👏👏👏
Manufacturers demo: Some crappy jazz fusion noodle with 3 presets.
Proper synth players demo: Actual music showing the instruments potential.
It's sounds like something from the past - yet as if it came from the future... I love synthesizers.
Dude you just made me bid on one of these rack units on eBay!!! This synth is a BEAST!!
I wanna be like 3 things in my life.
Aphex twin, boards of canada and jexus.......

9:20, is still one of my favorite parts. Need to hear more of that from the ms2000
i had a dream one time about having this synthesizer and toying with it
Nice Evil Dead II clip at 2:30. Your demos of the MS2k convinced me to pick one up. Great interactions with this synth. Well done!
The first piece is so characteristic for the MS2000.
Thanks for bringing back so many sweet memories!

I sold my microkorg a few years ago but every time I watch this again.... oh my gas.
5:13 probably my favorite patch on this video

The melody that starts at 2:04 is so good I could hear it in loop for hours lol
Wow! Very cool melodies, Olo! Every time your solos became more better! 5 stars!
Jexus makes any synth sound good, which tells you something about synths and their users.
I commented on another MS2000 demo, saying that demo was my favorite. I take that back. THIS is my favorite MS2000 demo.
