Echevarria is one of the saddest stories in T+F.
This guy was on track to be the GOAT. A 9m jumper, uncontested for a decade, breaking one of the toughest WR's in history.
Now he's love-struck, in between countries, and nowhere to be found. Absolute tragedy.

I loved to see echevarria and duplantis perform in the big stage. Duplantis delivered. Now it's your turn. Let's go champ. I root for both of you..
I thought he would clear 9M by the 2020 Olympics and was going to be the GOAT.
I hope the use of the term "King" at the end wasn't a serious comment but one made in jest. Yes he has jumped some great distances but Tentoglou right now holds every title at Olympic/World/European level both indoors and outdoors so if anyone can be called the "King" of the event it's him.
Yeah I write it to be a little bit “cool”😅. Yes Tentoglou has the right to hold the term “King”, but would’ve he if Echevarria was healthy?🧐
@@trackworld.It's an interesting one. Hard to say what might have happened but either way I do hope he can come back to international competition one day.
Cuba's economic situation is just so tough. He seems to be in Portugal and recently said he would like to represent Cuba again on the future.

Tentoglou nowadays is super strong.. It would be very interesting to see Echevarria return and compete against the best ever Tentoglou.. But is Echevarria going to participate in the Paris' Olympics? Nobody seems to know...
Tentoglu is far from the best ever. He's great yes, but jumping 30cm less than Carl lewis and mike powell with much superior technology.

Please, don't let me remind you even about Carl Lewis PEDS. .. Eras have changed. Of course Carl was a top athlete but it is totally different nowadays. May I remind you that Carl didn't win always with marks close to 8,90 but close to 8.55 or 8.60. So ...Before you judge an athlete, he must finish his career :)
The Men's LJ has absolutely missed Juan Miguel Echevarria & the Men's TJ has missed Jordan Alejandro Diaz Fortun :(
