@dial the gate Thank you for all of these interviews you are doing, It has really given us something to look forward to the last few months. Can't wait to see who we have in 2021!
I just want to say i've got no idea why Robert and Joseph have so little views compared to some of the actors. These guys are the actual repository of knowledge! So thank you and thank them for appearing over and over to share everything and anything they are willing to.
On thing Rob mentions was about the Netflix version they chose to show. I was kind of disappointed that they didn't use the Widescreen version with 5.1 Surround. I do have on disc but... the convenience on NF and not having to pull out the disc to watch is... umm... well, you know :)
I don't think there would've been any point in dredging up any backstory or family for O'Neill either - let's not forget that he was already a seasoned member of the Air Force by the time he joined and much older than the others (except for Teal'c but that doesn't matter). I always thought he was probably an only child and both his parents had probably passed away but even if not, given how little the family of the SG1 members mattered unless they were directly related to the character's conflicts (Jacob joining the Tok'ra, Teal'c's son joining the Jaffa resistance, etc.), there was no point in bringing up any other family for O'Neill because it wasn't a family drama. O'Neill's seminal family drama was the death of his son and the break-up of his marriage. Even when we see Sam's estranged brother touched on in the show, he's barely referenced and only shown at the end and didn't even have lines. When you examine the show closely, I think it's evident that the SG1 team, at least initially, are probably the closest thing they all have to a family, not just O'Neill: Sam isn't close to her family and has broken off her engagement, Daniel's wife is kidnapped and he's an orphan, Teal'c has lost his wife and son, etc. There's no point in them having random siblings or relatives show up because it doesn't really add anything to the show.
Ah, I see a mic change on your side, David? It's great to loose the headphones on the visual, but I'd say the audio quality suffers a little bit here. It's not too distracting, but noticeable. (Though, then again, the interview partner's audio via Zoom is never going to be super clean anyways...)
Okay, I'm going to be the devil's advocate and say I far prefer the original pilot over Brad's cut. Not because I care about the nudity or any of that but because it's ridiculous how they cut out so many of Carter's lines - some which weren't even offensive like the "you'll like me once you get to know me" line - and also the MacGyver reference which there was no reason to take out. If it weren't for Netflix, I never would've gotten to see this version so I'm fine with it and don't think it's particularly family-unfriendly but for the nude scene, of course.

Dial the Gate Yes please David, any weight you could apply to getting any or all of Joel's music released (on CDs) would get my vote

Thank you David. You have definitely made this year better.

Why does Rob have a giant pair of scissors?

Actually zoom has an "original audio" mode that can be turned on at both ends which greatly improves the audio quality.

excellent interview sir
Have you had a chance to talk to RDA?
Rick is a very private person. We will invite him one day for sure though.
YES
R.C is back as I had foreseen
The force wills it
I tweeted at Netflix over Threads not being the extended cut - they don't care.
Heroes ruined Stargate.
