Just curious, back in 1994, did they allow duplicates? He apparently did repeat 3axel+2toe and 3toe. By the current standard, those 2 jumps won't be counted, right?
Did you say he did two triple toes? I think you might be mistaking one of the triple flips for a triple toe. I think I saw him do a triple flip by itself and then another triple flip with a double toe. He did indeed do two triple axel-double toe combinations, and I don't think he broke a rule by doing so; he just didn't add much to his content that way. I prefer to see a nice triple axel by itself with a nicely held landing. Unless the second jump is a triple, I feel like combination jumps were overrated.

They were leaving room for the final group but neither Urmanov nor Stojko did a better long programme at Lillehammer. 5.6 from the Russian judge for technical is disgraceful - two 3 axel combinations, a 3 lutz, a 3 flip combination, 3 flip by itself, 3 toe and 3 sal. Only error was a pulled 3 loop. He should have got at least 5.8s across the board for technical and 5.9s/6.0s for artistic.
This is one of the reasons why I don't agree with people that think we should go back to the old scoring system. Because of factored placements, it was made impossible for skaters like Viktor in this situation to get the marks he deserved because of the need to hold back for the final group.... And it was impossible for a skater this far back to make a comeback in the long program and make the podium even though they're performance was far superior to all the other performers.
Although jumps are getting insane, if you don't do any quads...it hurts you. Yes, jumps are spectacular but racing around setting up 3 to 4 jumps and no artistry or dazzling spins isn't what I want to watch.

@Raj Sandhu , Elvis skates like a log. Urmanov has long legs, his jumps are the highest and beautiful, so he cannot be called uninspiring.
A really terrific free skate. Viktor became the ballet. What a champion! I know Viktor didn't win here, but he won everyone's heart.

I think the rule is that you can not do the same jump twice without at least one of them being in combination.
