True but the scenery and photogrammetry and the airliners have numerous problems which is why I'm staying with P3D till 1-2 years or when these bugs are fixed. Legit with only my 3rd flight of flying the A320NEO on approach the plane dives down like the 737 MAX and just makes me crash. Couldn't do anything. Also sometimes the plane doesn't recognize stars and sids and deviates on its course sometimes for absolutely no reason. The plane is almost unflyable sometimes. Problems with the scenery - Photogrammetry sucks in some areas. Sometimes even with a very good internet connection you, just look a bit ahead of your plane and the scenery is just spikes and the houses and buildings aren't really fully loaded in. Looks bad. Then when you are up at cruising altitude the orthophotos (not sure if they're called that in this sim) they look very blurry and bad. So till these things are fixed, I'm sticking with P3D.
@@submosphere1203 Valid points. The inherent advantage of legacy sims like XP and P3D is that they are stable, optimized, and have had their bugs and issues ironed out, not to mention the astronomical amount of content they have available. MSFS needs time to mature, so for now, for many people the other platforms still make more sense, but that is why I said MSFS will be by far the best in the future.
@@NWA744 I mean I don't think it will the "best" because in my opinion they're certain flight sims for different people, there isn't one flight sim that is just the "best"
Honestly, outside from the graphics, FS2020 isn't worth for the moment, I was on FSX and now disappointed by FS2020 because the lack of realism, lots of bugs (engine management, mixture, issues with turboprop etc), missing features in aircrafts (inop switches everywhere), we can just ask ourselves if pilots assisted to the elaboration of the soft... The world is also full of artifacts, spikes higher than Burj Khalifa. I decided to give a try to P3D and honestly, its engine is more efficient than FSX, we can finaly reach 50-60 fps with everything at full opposed to the 20 fps with 20% gpu usage... And it has lots of nice fully detailed realistic planes. About X-plane, I just can't stand its interface, key assignation etc, I was so much used to FSX and P3D is almost the same for this. X-plane also hasn't as much add-ons as the couple FSX/P3D.
@@deanthiessen7306 msfs is the best running Sim today, u need tweak Some setting and het a 30hz screen.. vr is to real and pretty scary bc everything looks and feel like the real world nothing comes close.. its smooth playing with a 1080ti on ultra.. try again
Honestly I think MSFS has the superior physics engine. It feels a lot more dynamic and lifelike in the GA aircraft (I am training to fly taildraggers irl). Obviously tho, third party aircraft will likely take better advantage of this physics engine.
@@omarsmak yeah, the airliners are getting tweaks both by Asobo and FBW, WT, etc. It isn’t the engine the issue, those aircraft just have a little ways to go. The actual physics engine is the “same” for all aircraft. And yes, for GA the physics are superior to X-Plane, which gives us a little glimpse of what’s to come with aircraft with more finished flight models (as well as the default airliners as they continue to get tweaked)
@@ethansaviation2672 i agree completely. Have both, and I use fs2020 ONLY FOR VFR GA.for more serious long haul airliners , I use my 777 and 747 and a319 in xplane. Msfs is a bit overhyped and over marketed in my opinion
Although FS2020 has "only" the A320 neo FlyByWire and the Aerosoft CRJ, I make most of my flights in FS2020. The scenery and everything else feels so real, Prepar3D looks like a 2006 game. When the PMDG / Aerosoft aircraft are released, P3D will be done for quickly.
This must have taken so much time and effort to make, thank you! XP11 fan here but cant wait to get MSFS when I get a new rig. Will use MSFS for GA and XP11 for airliners. Subbed!
Personally feel it's a little unfair to compare mods against MSFS. The sim has only been out 5 months compared to the much established P3D and Xplane11
Not at all. The whole point one buys add on/s for P3D/X-Plane is to make it look and feel more real. MSFS20 by default does much of that without the add on/s. Saves you and I money. Even 3rd party developers have stopped and/or announced...No more P3D/X-Plane development/support. Keep on mind we are only 1 year in from official release of MSFS20. They have a 10 year contract with Microsoft.
I have used FSX, Fs2004, FS96, DCS, XP11, MSFS2020 and P3DV5. If you are a casual flyier, msfs will be your choice, you can fly VFR with the C172 or the cub and you will not need more. But if you are looking for a realistic sim with airliners, real in depth systems, etc,XP and P3D are better than msfs. I just moved from msfs to p3d, and I dont regret. You will need to sopend a lot of money in the sim, but once you have orbx, gsx, acfts etc, its a game changer. You will experience the best inmersion you can achieve in a sim. As an ATPL student, I look for real systems and aircrafts, so P3D is my choice. It may not be as good visually as msfs, but once you configure everything, it looks very good, and with a lot of study level acfts available, etc.
Not really agree with you in some aspects and will tell why, mfs is not for casuals as lots of people saying it, the problem there was no proper planes released with custom flight model, if you compare x plane 11 they have zibo, and p3d have pmdg so ofc they will win in these areas, you cant compare default aircrafts to fully modded ones.
@@Msfs2024HD lol, no. It’s not for casual simming, I have both but I still prefer p3d due to flight model, more study level aircraft, and more orbx airports. Though Msfs is very very good the flight models still lack I gotta say. However the phonix is a great aircraft! But still no comparison for me instead of the fslabs since I look at micro details. But for the average simmer Msfs is probably the best choice. It is cheaper, looks nicer and just much more easy to use
I have been using MSFS for some time now. Actually a nice game. The graphics are already stunning. The missions are also quite nice, at least in the beginning. But as far as the flight physics are concerned, FSX was much better back then. MSFS is more of a game with airplanes than a simulator. At most, it mimics some aviation procedures. But if you as a layman can land a 747 on the level "heavy" manually without any problems directly at the first time (on a much too short runway), then there is something wrong. As I said, nice game with great graphics. But just not a simulator. Then I had a look at X-Plane 11. I couldn't take that thing seriously at all. Sure, it's fun to fly loops with a 737 or to roll around its own axis several times, but a real 737 won't even survive that. Even small single-engine planes flew more like fighter jets. Why they call this part a simulator, I don't understand. And that's how I came up with the P3D. Unfortunately not a cheap pleasure. Because you have to buy a lot of add-ons to really have fun. But then you have a simulator that looks quite good, but also has quite good flight physics. For example, when you power up a turbine here, it's not at 80% in 2 seconds like in MSFS, or even faster in XP11. In reality, such an engine also needs some time until it is at full power.
You should try FlightGear for realism. Not the ripped off $69 version, but the free for everyone that is exactly the same. I like realism too. I like trying the way-out experiences. I try landing a Concorde at zero visibility and zero ceiling at Heathrow just on instruments. Sometimes I can see a flash of runway before the wheels touch it.
I love P3D v5.1, I'll admit its a lot of money and storage to overtake MSF and P3D but I cant regret it. It just looks amazing with fully functioning aircraft from the best aircraft makers out there (PMDG and QW) and I simply cannot fault Lockheed Martins constant development of new sims. Although its sad to see the FS2004 and FSX Base of every P3D coming to a end in the next P3D Version, did so many things right and will probably be a while since we get P3D v6, simply due to the fact that its being released once every 3 years for a major update. Considering that P3D v5.1 came out in late October 2020 and the fact of the possibility that the platform needing to be made from scratch could mean a very long wait for a P3D v6. MSF is more aimed at Gamers than Simmers and I can respect that MSF is trying to implement new features however this is more of a 2021 FSX Steam Edition release rather than a full proper sim, with the very easy UI in the menu to create and pre load flight plans and not a full cold and start startup and ect. I am interested to see where Microsoft and Asobo will take MFS in the long run, I doubt it will turn into a proper sim aimed at simmers but I will continue to use MFS for group flights and general sightseeing flights, possibly more short haul or a "Quick" flight with the UI ect. I still love P3D for the Medium-Long Haul rounds and will continue to use P3D for that reason until P3D comes out in 2026? xD. Although good job on the video and will continue to see the not matured flight sim into a real matured flight sim and see where it takes its customers in the future.
All the MSFS 2004 and FSX aircraft can be converted almost entirely if not so, into ones for MSFS 2020. Costs nothing. There are hundreds of different ones available for free download. I like seaplanes of all ages, and have about 40 so far..
MSFS202 was beautiful when is wasn't crashing to Desktop with no errors or reason. Prepar3D is my go to again but I really haven't given X-plane much of a go. Might have to try it and hopefully some day to get MSFS2020 working. Unfortunately I may have to upgrade my video card but prices are insane !!!!
Well this won't be controversial. Hehehe... I came to MSFS from FSX, so I have nothing but positives to say for the new sim. Never even knew P3D or XPlane existed until this year (as I had been out of flight sims for a few years). Right now, each simulator has it's place. I actually prefer there to be competition in the flight sim world. We'll be getting the study level airliners eventually I'm sure. Each update adds and improves on the previous version of the sim. I'm still shocked considering there was no such thing back in the FSX days. You might have gotten one or two updates during the lifetime of the sim. I'll take the little hiccups knowing that support is there.
how exactly does MSFS still use data tables? in the little dev diary videos they released before the game was out, they showed off pretty much identical footage you are showing here. with airflow being calculated on multiple parts of the aircraft. or was that i different sort of system. or did they end up not using the system they showed off?
The system is a mix. Aircraft variables are done on data tables, some weather influences are calculated by airflow, mainly mountain terrain and thermals.
MSFS has fun challenges (landing challenges, etc). X-Plane’s set of community and free mods is astounding. Are there really 300 free helicopters and planes out there for Prepar3d? XPlane 12 will definitely up the ante on weather, clouds, and water, and one weak point on XPlane 11 that you didn’t mention is the default trees look terrible. They are basically “cardboard 2d props”. I didn’t see a close up of low altitude trees in the Prepar3d scenes in the video. XPlane 12 will have animated trees, and animated rain.
If the narrator could be understood, it would be a great help. Either he has too much accent, or his audio equipment is faulty or something is wrong with the recording as presented. I have quality powered speakers hooked to my iMac running High Sierra. I can hear other sources on this computer just fine. I gave up on this one after 3 minutes.
Just bought MSFS after a year of it being out and it looks amazing but we still do not have my very favorite aircraft: PMDG and A2A. Because of that It still hasn’t replaced P3D for me. I want to use MSFS but the default aircraft don’t come anywhere near the really good pay ware. It will get there IMO, but it may take a long time.
Here's a problem I've got with msfs - eye candy..a slow eye Candy. Xplane is built for real flight simmers..as in caring about the flight model. Msfs navigation is a pain. Ffs.. There's no way to set flight visibility... How is that possible. Back to xplane
I disagree with X-PLANE with the superior physics. Flying the 172 irl the MSFS has the best aircraft physics in the GA category. An aircraft also reacts to the environment. That's something MSFS comes on top in.
Yeah agreed, i think ppl are to used to hearing that xplane flight dynamics are better, they just believe it. And the joke is, majority of them prob never piloted a single plane
I've flown the Flight Design CT alongside an Ikarus C42 in the past as part of my NPPL(M) (school closed down during the pandemic which is a bugger) as well as a few gliding trips. The CTSL in MSFS I find overly sensitive. X-Plane has a good balance with most aircraft. My brother also flies Cessna 152s and 172s as part of a full PPL and he too much prefers the feel of X-Plane.
MSFS 2020 still has quite a ways to go before it's accepted, I tried it out for a month with their X-Box Game Pass and I was impressed with the visual realism but I ran into some issues with the flight dynamics and the overall realism of flight in most aircraft so they (Asobo & Microsoft) still got some more work to do to resolve some of the annoying issues that I've seen. For the time-being, I'll continue flying with X-Plane 11.51, yes it has some minor flaws also but as least it's a stable platform.
Flight dynamics are far better of a small planes in mfs, but yah bigger planes have so issues it seems devs was more focused on small planes compared to airliners, but flybywire mod of a320 improved a lot of things, we just need couple more years for mfs to reach the top.
@@Krahamus I uninstalled MSFS 2020 about a month ago because the Xbox Game Pass expired. I only wanted to try it out and I wasn't impressed with it because of the inability of the simulator to maintain a level flight on the Airbus A320 and the Boeing 747, I didn't have the 787 but I'm hearing others have had similar issues as well. General aviation planes are okay though I had issues with the Beechcraft King Air 350 and I ended up crashing it.. :-)

I use MSFS 2020 50% of the time. P3D v5 5% with orbx, REX, Active Sky, megasceneryX, etc. P3D v3 10% with orbx, REX, Active Sky, megasceneryX, etc. FSX 30% with orbx, REX, Active Sky, megasceneryX, etc. xplane 5% with ortho4xp P3D v1, P3D v2, FS9, xplane 10 and xplane 9 are still installed but I haven't used them in a long time. Once PMDG publishes its aircraft for MSFS 2020 no one can beat FS 2020.
…Which makes zero sense. I have fsx pimped out and was thinking of getting p3d 5 because it’s 64 bit and can use all the ram I have in the laptop. My fsx version is 32 bit obviously and only uses 4mb of ram. I see zero reason to use fsx over p3d 5 if you already own both products, since p3d can use any of the fsx addons (according to their website) unless I’m wrong about something? @@jordan4541 The only reason is if when they went to 64 bit in p3d the original addons for fsx no longer work, hitch there isn’t anything sayin that on LM’s website. Flight simulator 2020 is a work in progress, it has a long way to go, it has CTD Issues, despite it great eye candy.X plane 11 lacks visuals but is far more realistic.
I disagree with all the comments critisising you for putting MSFS up against the established platforms. My reason is just one. Could your experience with the mighty MSFS be a bad one if your PC is not good enough. I have MSFS using an I5 6600k and GTX1080. The card has been optimized with GeForce experience. My performance from MSFS visually and FPS is poor. The graphics are drawing the scenery while I'm approaching it.. Therefore could my sim experience be improved by buying another platform whereby my hardware will be able to run sufficiently to give me a realistic experience. I'd we had 100mb broadband and Gtx3090 and Intel I whatever MSFS would be a joyus experience but for a lot of us out here maybe X plane would be the best choice
Yes, using X-Plane 11 is very likely to vastly improve your experience performance wise. Having both MSFS and X-Plane 11, I often use X-Plane because my old Quadro K-4000 performs so much better with X-Plane 11. X-Plane 11 is free to try, so you can download it and try the free demo to see how it actually works with your graphics card.
@@daviation9779 no, MSFS’ is actually better in many ways I believe, if I recall correctly PMDG said a while ago that MSFS’ engine had dynamic air particle simulation or smth like that, while X-Plane had static air particle simulation. This is what gives MSFS the nicer air turbulence feeling from what I understand. From what I understand, many parts of MSFS’ physics engine are better than in X-Plane. X-Plane seems to have an edge in some other parts. Obviously third party aircraft will probably take better advantage of MSFS’ features. As PMDG said, X-Plane definitely has a fight in its hands
@@maltimoto because for simmers like me who love in-depth fidelity simulation, there's really nothing of the sort airline wise in msfs. In xplane or msfs i just don't get that. yea p3d is a hell of a lot more expensive but when you spend that money over time, the sim looks amazing.
A very informative video, though I do feel that 'Vanilla, No Mods!' rather implies that a) Airport updates by the community are not actually 'vanilla', and b) the quality of mods (and providers) are the 'Mods' themselves and do not reflect the platform's modability.
You missed a whole section of features in P3D that the others do not have: The instructor console! It is a teaching tool and has focus on that. Instructors can change elements of flight, including failures live while the "trainee" is flying. Lockheed Martin makes P3D and has put the focus on realism over scenery. The right one for you depends on your purpose.
Oh yeah, there's a lot that P3D has to offer that even I will never know what it is and how it works. That I'd leave to someone far more qualified than I am to explain.
MSFS has most realistic flight dynamics per real pilots. With Cessna 172, X-Plane snaps into a spin like a jet whereas MSFS eases into a more realistic spin of a real Cessna 172.
I think MSFS is the best for its price, Truly insane how good it looks without any payware addons. P3D at its peak with a bunch of addons is incredible too but just too expensive for someone like me.
@@vascoiraola5209 Not really, system simulation if mfs is far more better than p3d, the problem with mfs there is no proper third party mod planes witch use custom flight models, p3d flight dynamics are outdated already and feels like on rails, you cant really compare fully modded planes with mfs default ones, both sims cant beat x plane 11 for now.

Flight sim is a bloated white elephant. The problem is its been overbuilt rather than build to what we have. For example even if you have a great pc with a 3080 it still shits itself.
To be honest I think XPlane and MSFS beat P3D unless you already own P3D for a while and have a few add-ons for it. And if you care more about graphics and have a decent PC and WiFi connection then go for MSFS because it looks so much better. But if you desire a better and more in depth simulation of aircraft and procedures on a stable platform, then XPlane is definitely a go to.

I think we need to stop being nice to the old flight sims. MSFS just made them obsolete. There is no point playing them with their old gen graphics after we have seem what MSFS can do.
Graphics is only one aspect of it. Why fly a simulator that just looks pretty when the controls are complete garbage? The older platforms may not look as good, but there is always something it will excel in.

FSX was the same when it first got released. But Give MSFS time to mature.

@@ethansaviation2672 yeah but airliners have improved a lot since release and mods like FBW and WT have made the flight model closer to IRL
I would say the stall characteristics are much better in MSFS as well. But honestly it depends on what plane you are flying
@@ethansaviation2672 i agree completely. Have both, and I use fs2020 ONLY FOR VFR GA.for more serious long haul airliners , I use my 777 and 747 and a319 in xplane. Msfs is a bit overhyped and over marketed in my opinion
Wow! Very informative! Now I know what flight sim to buy after watching this video! :D
XP11 included king air 90 is very well done. Engine modelling (-21 engines) is excellent. I flew one of these fore years in the rw.
Great video! :)
Thank you for the kind words!
MSFS for me 👍👍
This must have taken so much time and effort to make, thank you!
I plan to do another video in a year or so comparing the three once mods are much more available!
I just can't go back to the old sims I just can't.
Pretty fair comparison between the three platforms, though to be honest after MSFS came out I rarely go back to X-Plane.
Msfs now has the Fenix a320 and pmdg. You still think it's for casual simming?
@@Msfs2024HD lol, no. It’s not for casual simming, I have both but I still prefer p3d due to flight model, more study level aircraft, and more orbx airports. Though Msfs is very very good the flight models still lack I gotta say. However the phonix is a great aircraft! But still no comparison for me instead of the fslabs since I look at micro details. But for the average simmer Msfs is probably the best choice. It is cheaper, looks nicer and just much more easy to use

I use X-Plane 11 for IFR flights, but i use FS2020 for VFR because the graphics are far ahead of Xplane or any other sim for that matter
MFS is still a child. Once the community really gets established I think it will thrive. MSF is the future, however, x-plane is better at the moment.
Nothing controversial was said.
for me MFS, because environments textures are important to feel like in real life, and the light and interior. x-plane is the 2nd
how exactly does MSFS still use data tables? in the little dev diary videos they released before the game was out, they showed off pretty much identical footage you are showing here. with airflow being calculated on multiple parts of the aircraft.
or was that i different sort of system. or did they end up not using the system they showed off?

Once the X-Plane 12.06 update comes out you should probably redo this video, it would be a nice comparison and I think it's needed.

Very good review.
Now let’s imagine X-plane secretly working on the next simulator using google map data……………
Unlikely, given that we have already seen previews of 'Next Generation' which does not use Google Maps.
if PMDG and FSLabs try to build something for fs2020 the other platforms will not be needed cuz fs2020 got everything we need
Now i would say MSFS is the best due to Sim Update 5, World Update 6 and the addon aircrafts commjng this year.
I think MSFS is the best for its price, Truly insane how good it looks without any payware addons. P3D at its peak with a bunch of addons is incredible too but just too expensive for someone like me.

Flight sim is a bloated white elephant. The problem is its been overbuilt rather than build to what we have. For example even if you have a great pc with a 3080 it still shits itself.
msfs needs a bit more time it is a bit young, an with some physiks/sdk improvments, i´d rekon it will do amazing.
To be honest I think XPlane and MSFS beat P3D unless you already own P3D for a while and have a few add-ons for it. And if you care more about graphics and have a decent PC and WiFi connection then go for MSFS because it looks so much better. Msfs is the best to invest now as fslabs, pmdg, etc high fidelity airliners are coming and also military airliners. It’s actively working on by developers and heaps of stuff will come out. Xplane is more old and not many developers are working on it all I can recal is the d assault falcon 8x
AS OF TODAY, XPLANE 11,, IS THE BEST SIM AND VR COMBO+ MODS...
NOTHING BEATS 737 ZIBO..
PMDG
FS2020 vs P3D vs X-Plane 11? just play Crimson Skies
Now that's a throwback to the early 2000s to a memory I had long forgotten!
MSFS 2020 best ! Xp11 too much bugs and too CPU and GPU intensives even without plugs-ins. Add plug-ins and maps and it’s even more buggy. Sure not the same age. P3D too expensive…
Isn't P3D like 60 bucks?
remember, p3d is just another version of the previous microsoft flight simulator
What a idiotic review.. p3d has been around the longest, obviously it has the most airports, airplanes. How does your pmdg 737 fly in fs2020 ? Sorry but I disagree and honestly i am a fs2004, fsx, p3d veteran.
k
Aircraft variety *SHOULD NOT* go to P3D since there isn’t a passenger jet, in my opinion...
Where talking about 3rd party addons
You can't even replay your flight in MSFS. It's a toy. Very pretty, but a toy. And buggy. I wanted to love it. I wanted a way forward. But alas.
They all are toys just like every other game and home computer sim ever existed. Face it
@@fsx-legend4602sure, but some are more sophisticated than others. There are toys and then there are toys.
they're adding it, its only been out for a few months jeez
@@arun3151997 It's a BASIC feature that has been in every previous version. It shouldn't need to be added.
@@sammyfromsydney it doesn’t make the sim unplayable so it’s not really a basic feature now is it
I think we need to stop being nice to the old flight sims.
Microsoft will only get better and better, especially with good payware planes coming out soon. Xplane, p3d was out for years but it still looks stuck in 2000. Msfs gives me a better sense of flying than the other sims ever will.
There is too much opinion in flight models lol.
XD lol ya gotta be kidding me or you are incompetent to do such heads on xD First two X should go to P3D and the rest is for MSFS. Period
what does incopetent mean?
@@johnballekom5287 that You are mean
X plane 11 now looks ugly
But a better sim, some people buy xenviro and true earth..to make the environment better..
@@noformstyle yeah but mfs2020 has better visuals than xenvirio and is free.....bro not everyone is rich, that is why i love mfs2020

I can't run MSFS due to slow internet, even pre-download is very small region.
I fly airlines not GA, so X Plane 11 still better for me. And I don't have add on,.
The voice 😔 so hard to watch and listen too
Congrats on making fun of someone with a speech impediment. 🙌
Just wait for Xplane12 to arrive and all of you MSFS Muppets will be then complaining you've spent to much dollars on this Msfs which is overrated.
Just remember Msfs are on a budget...if they don't make enough dollars on it... it will go no further than what it is. Google map settings my Ass...I'm running a decent gaming machine I did try Msfs with everything turned up...ran really smooth but lol I never saw my house. The houses all look the same. You can't interact with things on the aircraft and still you do not have the Qantas Boeing 737 800.
Stop raving on..... On how good Msfs is..it's full of bugs and to be quite honest I expected it to be a realistic simulator for what people pay for it. Xplane11- Xplane12 is all ONE Price. Everything included...and I've just found out Xplane12 will be paring up with Google maps....Just wait....Just wait lol
What's your source on X-Plane 12 using Google Maps? You'd think such an announcement would be all over the major flight sim news sites like flightsim.com and FSElite?
Oh look someone pissed because spent a lot of money on x plane 11, and now triggered because mfs in couple years going to blow x plane out of water, also for x plane 12 partnering with google maps there is no information, you think devs officialy would not announce? Everyone can create so fake info, and it seems you read them to just get your hopes up, as you cant handle the fact something will be better compared to x plane 11, btw mfs is long term project for 10 years so they will not just drop like you said because they only after money, plus its a huge potential for microsoft to bring next gen sim, good luck competing with bilions of worth corporation.
I couldn’t understand this comment lol. Make sense of yourself
P3D looks like fsx
Same base platform with an upgraded backend.
my man test flight dynamics in very good condition and claim xplane is better. and with mf what the actual fk you did? what was that?
I've flown all sims in different weather conditions over a good couple of years. I show clear weather in the video (admittedly I could have shown a bit more variety) but Blade Element Theory is still superior in my eyes!
