This might be my favorite outfit I've seen you wear. I have a top that is the same shape, it's just black, and more of a jersey knit fabric. It was from Forever 21 ten years ago, and it has little holes all over it from being washed so many times. I sleep in it now. It's the most flattering shape on my body, and when I lay it flat it's really just a rectangle with a longer back than front. I want to try to make a new one, using the old one as a pattern.
This one episode spoke volumes in just a few minutes. 🥰

The best pieces have no hanger appeal!! Love your stories!! I'm the same crazy. I have bought jewelry off strangers necks! And I've also given stranger jewelry off mine.
I've learned to try things on that don't look good on the hanger, or that I normally wouldn't go for. If it doesn't look good on the body, it can be taken off, & if it does look good on, then great!
This was truly inspiring. I’m a small business owner jewelry designer. Welding and clothing design is what I’ve been wanting to learn next but I’ve been telling myself I don’t have enough time for it. Carla…you have made me want to put the color and fun back into my style! I’m 35 and during the early 2000s my wardrobe looked like a chaotic rainbow of varied patterns. Over the last couple years I’ve been wearing more minimalist neutral pieces, like most of the planet. But now I’m ready to add a little life into my look again. Thank you!

I feel this! I'm a beginner when it comes to sewing. But it's not stopping me from just creating what's in my head and heart. I don't use patterns. I sew like I cook, I season until the voices of my ancestors tell me to stop. I'm having the best time! You're such an inspiration! I'm playing way more with all my accessories since watching you.

I learned at 18 yrs. to try things on. After loads of dresses that were awful, a plain black dress was brought in. My face said no way. My Mom said you have to try it on, some things don't have hanger appeal. She was right. It was black. A simple belt with rhinestone buckle but a classy cut out back. Senior homecoming 1989 I may not have been homecoming Queen but my dance card and compliments made me feel like it.
As an Aquarian I would rock that Carla original!! Have to say it is amazing. Love your channel. Only watched shorts. The other day subscribed after I watched the first with your daughter. My heart swelled.

It’s true - buy (or create) what screams at you for across the crowded room and you will eternally be in love with it. You absolutely know when something is made just for you because your heart skips a beat the instant you lay eyes on it and you get tunnel vision, and you can’t hear anything for a second (besides your wardrobe Rolodex that’s flipping past your face that’s showing you what you have that goes with it), and your soul just knows, THAT belongs to YOU…..as if it recognizes it, like it’s an old friend already or something!!

I have always loved complimentary colors. I remember as a young girl in the 70s having a ton of thin plastic headbands. I would wear the purple with the yellow, the blue with the orange. People told me that those colors didn’t work together so I think I stopped. I wish I would have ignored those people. When I learned color theory later in life - I finally felt justified!!! I miss those headbands!
Go out and buy yourself some more ..... And if the headbands don't work for you now, go buy bangles !!
This is something I needed to watch twice. I’m making a lot of big life changes at once I hope work out, and I’m turning 29 in the fall.

The color and patterns on these pieces would’ve had me picking them off the rack without second guessing- a hanger never deceives me- I constantly find precious gems that hang terribly but once on the body are so polished and beautiful! This whole ensemble, I adore 😍😍
