- MotoMan drives the 2017 Bentley Mulsanne Speed in Southern Germany and Austria. However, to demonstrate the importance of the engineering changes, he swaps the hot rod version of the 2017 Bentley Mulsanne - the Bentley Mulsanne Speed - for the 2017 Bentley Mulsanne Signature. In doing so he unpacks the go fast bits assembled here - like larger bushings and adjustable engine mounts - and their very different purpose in the 2017 Bentley Mulsanne - all the while on the very wet roads of Austria. But as much as he tries to focus on driving dynamics, MotoMan couldn’t help but let his inner frustrated designer come out to discuss the details . . . After all, this is a Bentley . . .

The Speed simply because I want to drive it myself and I would use it as a weekend cruiser if I had a daily and a canyon carver... that would be my perfect garage combination

Why assume that a car geek will prefer the Speed, "For us car geeks" as you put it. There is geekdom about cars that does not focus on driving like a hooligan. One can geek out about waftiness just as easily as speed.

Absolutely gorgeous and wonderfully gleeful,a real beauty filmed in stupendous Bavaria and utterly engaging.The Bentley is a wonderful joy to behold and against everything we are led to believe is life enhancing but it just is.I can only sigh as I can only stand in awe of this beautiful car as it is way beyond my pocket.

Why? I'm a car geek like many people who regularly watch MotoMan's channel and it's special on top of special. Also, let's repeat, "eight-hundred and eleven pounds feet of torque".
Use: Road trips, going for a drive, and show off to friends who has the biggest wheelbase.

I sure do like your videos. Absolutely very well thought out and put together. The choice between the two is a no-brainer; it would be the speed. I would use it for long road trips, as opposed to around town. And the fuel efficiency of the speed isn't about the cost of gas, it's about how often you have to stop to refill.

I'd take the speed, the luxury is impeccable in both variants, both have an ample amount of horse power but the extra torque is what gets me, more effortless acceleration is a big part of luxury cars, that wood trim was beautiful but very curious about the stone finish

As a car geek I feel like I appreciate cars that are specialists...cars that can do one thing extremely well and better than anything else. On that note, I would not want to buy an ultra-luxury sedan with performance driving in mind, so I'd have the normal premier version. That being said, I wouldn't buy the Bentley at all, I'd rather have a Rolls Royce Ghost since that is more geared towards ultra-luxury.

If I could afford the whole package (I cannot) it would be the extended wheel base Mulsanne. Reason, one word; chauffeusse. And hopefully a lovely one.
I would pick the "Speed" model over the "base" model because I like the power and the road performance. I would definitely use it for driving. As all Bentleys should be used.
The filming on this is great. Is it 4K? On my iPad Air it's flawless....like the Bentley!
Good eye . . . This was shot with a brand new, VERY fancy camera. Yes, it was a 4K - actually shoots in 6K however, the final edit and output were set to HD to support all of our distribution outlets.

Great review,, i would choose the base model i like comfort riding and to be honest am not actually spend ((extra )) money to get 1 or 2% of sport performance. The second thing , in base model the focus on comfort and luxury which is I preferred. This car is huge not just big . So i wonder where you will use the ( mulsane SPEED) features 😂😂
I would rather the Speed. It has speed, Bentley (which is most likely half speed half comfort) and comfort when you driving the family around. Your movement and gestures are find with me, because I explain myself the same way
If I was driving it, I would get the Speed and daily drive it. I'd also use it to drive from one of my homes to another.
If I was being chauffeured I'd get the Premier or Extended Wheel Base versions.

Motoman, if I were in a position to choose, then I would choose the more comfort oriented Premier Signature. In my opinion, if one were in position to buy a Mulsanne, then they would most likely have multiple cars, an F12 for sporting mood, for example. But the whole purpose for me to drive a Mulsanne is for its comfort, so why not get the most comfortable one. Additionally, if one were to load up the Mulsanne with passengers, then how fast can you really go without throwing them around from side to side? If you really want a sporty ride while carrying five people, why not just take something like the M5?
Are the headlights, taillights and marker lights covered in glass or plastic ?

Premier Signature is what I'd want. I want silence, decent power, and possibly nicer interior.

How dose the power compare to the rest s63/65 w12 ? I regarded the mulsanne as a pumped up A8, most of the tech comes from it.
This is NOT AT ALL related to the A8. Absolutely zero. This is more related to older Rolls Royces than any current VW Group product.
With respect tend to disagree, i have owned a few a8's and one GT ; The control-arm front suspension of the new Mulsanne, for instance, is shared with the Audi A8, and the control-arm rear layout comes from the Audi A6 Avant. The HVAC system is an A8 unit, and there is shared electrical architecture with other VW cars, but otherwise, the Mulsanne is all Bentley, designed and built at the company’s spiritual home of Crewe in northern England. kind regards

I would prefer in my currently situation: The Mulsanne Speed because it would be my daily basic car..... NOW If I would be in a "jet situation" and I would be a position of afforting to have MANY cars (I am Petrolhead); I would probably have the Extended Wheelbase one.... The Mulsanne Speed is for somebody who really enjoy driving cars at its limit without loosing the poshness neither the cocoon ... Defiantly my car..... I just do not see my self in RR yet... Bentley it´s more FOR my style at the moment.....

I like English cars but the English only seem to make uber expensive cars. Aston Martin, Rolls Royce, Bentley, McLaren, Jaguar, Morgan etc etc. The Germans at least make some more accessible cars price wise, even though they are still expensive.

If I want a sport car, i would go for a continental gt or a Ferrari or lamborgini, so for me the mulsanne speed Is out or the spirit of a luxury sedan. A real luxury sedan is not for racing. I preffer the regular mulsanne, a real "gentlemen car"
it's a little too tall, the hip line is hideous and the c pillar is too thick. that my opinion.
