Do all full size school buses have that much overhang behind the rear axle? It looks like a lot. Also, this made me realize that busses don't have a Mansfield bumper, which kind of blew my mind that it's not required like it is on tractor trailers.
Lastly, have you decided how much weight you think you can safely carry? Wonder if this would work to carry my 8k cclb dually 1 ton
Amazing build! Can't wait to watch more.

Essentially, I think there may be an additional foot past where the back used to stop, but not enough to notice. I know with my Cherokee on the back which is close to 5000 lbs and it’s balanced between the limits of both axle ratings at about 2k lbs under each limit.

The reason they don’t have a Mansfield bumper is because when hit it would push the bus forward and they would rather sacrifice the car hitting the bus then the child in front of the bus.

2006 and I drove it all across the country with the stock tune which it was obviously a bit slow on some hills, but manageable. Since then I’ve added an Orion tuner, and changed the rear end ratio from 6.17 to 4.88 and it drives great.

It's still titled and registered as a bus, but since it isn't used as a bus the DMV gave me a property carrying tag for it.
