My DVDs are a much better resource than the TH-cam videos. You get the whole process not just a small piece of the puzzle.
The work is very beautiful! But there is a question:- Why not sharpen the inside with a bowl cutter on the reverse? Then there is free access to the inside.
Good Question Ivan, sorry I did not show that clearly. I always use gouges with bevel support. That will not work for that shape. You could scrape with a bowl gouge but the scraping would be forced to cut in the wrong direction to the grain. It would mean a lot more sanding is needed. Have you seen I am doing IRDs?? beautiful, i use an almost identical shape when i have a special piece of wood. you're right the inside does present challenges. how do you feel your little angled carbide cutter would have done on the inside curve
Thanks for watching Bill. I use my carbide cutters in these shapes usually. Need both regular and reverse angle carbides to go the correct way to the grain.
