I’d like to add that if you type “***” in the search field it will populate the entire library rather than searching for key names. Just gives you a better idea of what’s there.

It’s not cloud based.
It takes up about 2 GB for the software itself and you want at least 100 GB of free system storage at all times to run projects

Moving to Resolve was the best decision I have made in my editing career. Although I do miss some of the Adobe Suite features; Resolve is just too good to go back

The library is still somewhat small but there are some gems in there. Type "*" (all three symbols) into the sound library search bar and it will bring up most of them
Thanks for that one. At my next big project I wanted to concentrate more on the audio design and that fore that "build in" library will be a massive help.

I'm sold. I'm currently purchasing a second 2TB ssd for my desktop. Going to install Davinci on it (along with couple others). Not sure if I'll get the lifetime license though.
Davinci Resolve has a very capable free version, but if you want to purchase the full Studio version, it costs $295 for a lifetime license.

Pro Tip: Use the free version to see if it's something that fits your workflow but if you DO choose to buy, don't just buy the licesne. Black Magic Design is primarily a pro level video production hardware company so you can spend a little extra and get things like the very cool Speed Editor with the license included as a bundle through their resellers. Well worth it.

Any recommendations for free asset sites? I’ve used a couple of paid ones in the past with mixed results, but hoping to find a free one that at least has some basic b-roll, intro/outro audio, etc. Thanks for all you do for the community sir!
Pixabay.com and Pexels.com are decent free sites (but most free sites are still limited, for obvious reasons). Best pay site for B-roll is still Storyblocks.com, in my opinion.

Just how they built it. Type an asterisk (*) into the Search bar and you should get all of them
There is an extra step that's missing, I had to import the library but it went to media and not sound library. Do you know how to fix that?
Shouldn't have? The option only exists in the sound library. You don't need to import anything. Just let it install. Then you can start by typind * into the Sound Library Search bar. Are you on Mac or PC?

Type “*” (all 3 characters) into the search bar and you should see them all populate.
Then, just left click, hold and drag the one you want to use into your timeline

Try typing in just an asterisk *

One Sound effect that DaVinci mise is "Bleep". How are you supposed to BEEP out bad words without a Bleeping BLEEP.
I have no *BLEEP* idea.
I downloaded and installed but every time I check.....nothing is there.

I've been trying for an hour I'm noe uninstalling 19 beta and reinstalling it it just won't work for me
Install, open up DR 19, go to the Edit Page, click on “Sound library”
If it say “No library connected” look up above and where it says “Local Database, click that drop down menu and swap it to Fairlight Sound Library.
You should be able to see those sound FX now

Idk why i did all of that and it didnt work for some reason it was bugged , it kept showing the download option, that was in the free version, i have bought studio since then so hopefully it works now

No, definitely not better. But it has a few cool free assets currently. If you type * into the Search bar, all of them will present
I think you only get that option from the PAID VERSION. I'm using the FREE version and I don't see it on my screen.
I don't think that's true. I thought I was experiencing the same thing; however, I didn't download it from the rip, which had been my problem all along. I hope it helps.

Yo! Im on an m1 MacBook Pro, I downloaded the file, asked me to download rosetta and did that, then installed the Fairlight file. I closed resolve because I had it open, restarted it and it still says download library. Any help would be really appreciated my dude, thank you!
I think you can also download from the Blackmagic site. Try that?
Dude I installed that a while ago but they don't show up in davinci why is that? (I runed the fairlight thing too)
You have to select them as a library in the upper left.

It looks like that in Resolve 19 the library does not exist

Make sure you have the most recent version of DaVinci Resolve (free version or Studio) and then follow the prompts from this Short.
i am getting sent to the black magic support center when i click download is that normal ?
It should open up a Black Magic page and allow you to download the effects pack for install

I did this hoping to find a static sound effect. Or an extended beep sound effect like when something goes offline or no signal. They surprisingly don't seem to have it.
