I keep coming back to watch this again and again. LOL I'm In love with that mare. Isn't she amazing?
When she just breezes on by on her own with no encouraging i just start smiling and giggling and she puts them away! Such a great mare! I love Beholder!!
That was awesome. Can't remember any GI dirt race in recent times when a mare dominated the males in this fashion. I was laughing when she pulled away in the stretch.

That win was so amazing that I'm actually crying right now. That was just amazing. I really hope she enters in the Classic - I'd love to see her go against AP.

Your comment made me laugh. In one of Zenyattas races there was a horse name AllICanSayIsWow. (It had to be spelled that way because of the 18-letter limit in race horses names.)

Wow what A Filly!! That was not supposed to be that easy, she made 2/1 look like a gift. She ran like a 1/9 favorite.
When was the last time arguably the two best horses in training were females? Songbird is pretty good to.

I was set to load up running against the Pharaoh, but she scratches 2 days before. Imagine if she'd run and won that race? Whata legacy!.

First time ever trying 10f in her career and Beholder beats the boys in the Pacific Classic like a red-headed step child. Such a classy, classy mare. Hope to see her lining up against the boys in the Breeders Cup Classic at Keenland instead of running in the Breeders Cup Distaff again.

SO awesome...the only race of hers better than this was the BC Distaff 2016...in the last race of her life,in the last second, she stuck her nose in front of Songbird at the wire.....EPIC...just like this...fantastic mare

After seeing this race I think Beholder could beat AP. That move reminded me of Ruffian.
That is a bad ass lil filly right there, and IMO this race is more impressive than any race that American Pharoah has run thus far. If she goes in the BBC, shes going to be VERY dangerous. Add that closing beast Honor Code, and this years BBC looks like an amazing race.

Well American Pharoah has his work cut out for him in the Breeders Cup Classic. Both Beholder and Honor code are in the race. Both of those great race horses have had some awesome wins. Should be one interesting horse race since neither of them have ever raced against the others.

I was confident AP would win the Triple Crown, but after seeing Beholder here I would give her a better chance against AP than any horse so far of beating him in the BCC. What's happened to Bayern, the wheels seem to have fallen off his wagon this season.
+David Kent Yes he was on again/ off again. He IS fast. BUT foot problems all the time. I'm so glad he went out in style by winning the BCC last year. That was great. THEN he retired. He's trained to sprint fast and forever. I imagine speed horses die out a lot quicker. Bob B trains his for speed. Not worth anything after 3yrs old it seems. Burnt out.

I too want to see Beholder vs Pharoah and I'm sure we will see it. If I'm not mistaken though, isn't Beholder very California heavy horse. SA specifically? If memory serves me right most of her losses have occurred outside of California, including a couple clunkers. Obviously a fantastic made, but how she travels will be interesting. She brings this game, and she can win the BCC
Once Beholder and American Pharoah both retire I think they should consider breeding them together.
I know Kathy Ritvo who worked in a consesion stand yrs ago and after i was done in the morning. I walked up to the clubhouse and she asked me i would like to work on the backside and learn how to take care of these beautiful horses. Barry shulman.

Beholder Had a Legit Shot Against American Pharoah in The Classic...That Race Had The Top Contenders Scratching Leaving Pharoah as LONE Speed Against Field of Closers...Beholder Would Have At Least Gave Pharoah a Run in Stretch
I believe, she is the only horse, male or female, to win a major stakes as a 2, 3, 4, 5 year old. She got sick last year and stayed out to recover.

Under 2 minutes (and a female horse at that) against males. Way to go, Beholder. I think American Pharoah will beat her if they meet, but he may have to actually break a sweat for once, which is more than most of his other rivals make him do.

Neftaly Pena Bencosme , If she were to put forth another performance this good at Keenland, Beholder may be straight up the only shot anyone has of beating American Pharoah in the BC Classic, Honor Code included. That being said, I think it would take another performance like this for Beholder to be competitive against American Pharoah in the Classic because when he shows up he's a beast.

That was freaking incredible. The only other alleged "great" (I say alleged because while I find them great and many others do as well, some disagree) race mares/fillies I've been around to follow were Rachel Alexandra and Zenyatta. . . . Their races against the boys were always exciting -- I NEVER saw either of them do something like this. I didn't think Beholder could win against such a classy field, let alone win this easily. To see a mare win a race against exceptional males under a HAND ride? Incredible. She is amazing -- I'd love to see her and Honor Code try to give American Pharoah a run for his money in the Classic.
Hannah Barta No, Zenyatta and Rachel pulled similar feats - particularly Zenyatta's Classics (even her loss, it was an incredible race) and RA's Oaks, Haskell, and Woodward. That's why THIS great filly is being compared to them.
BTW, all of those mares are virtually universally considered "great." It's only a few jackasses who think otherwise.
Hannah Barta Different styles. Rachel ran near or at the front. Zenyatta seemed to enjoy falling back as far as possible then slingshoting to the front in the final stretch. All spectacular in their own ways.
John Doe Z was 20 for 21 and missed the 21st by a head against the best male handicap horse of that year. She did all of that mostly coming from last. On every surface including dirt, cushion, polytrack and Pro-Ride.
She's a few notches better than Rachel.
WellConditioned Let's not start that fight again! Rachel probably had the most impressive-ever three-year-old filly career, defeating boys in the Preakness and Haskell and older boys in the Woodward (and that brutal campaign probably did her in, mentally if not physically). Zenyatta was probably the most spectacular, and one of the most successful, older mares ever, also beating a lot of top males in two Breeders Cup Classics (all but one). I was more impressed by Zenyatta at the time. But her style was incredibly risky and finally caught up with her. Greatness doesn't have to be linear and exclusive.
I'd rate them all quite high for different reasons. RA had a tougher 3 yr old campaign than any and did well at it. Zenyatta has the best resume with the BCC wins. Beholder has been very impressive particularly this year, she is getting better almost. I'd like to see her vs AP. Honor code is not on the same level IMO.

look I have nothing against beholder but Zenyatta has and always will be the holder of the name "poetry in motion"
absolutely agree 100% nobody reigns more supreme than the queen ZENYATTA but we have to let her go now she's retired and I miss her so much but she's got a new job now and that's bringing in her new babies hopefully one will turnout half as good as her I'd be happy with that we all know there will never be another ZENYATTA she will always be my favorite horse EVER

He has a lot to prove, especially next week in the Irish Champion, but if he pulls that off, and they're confident he'll adapt to dirt (he's out of a Storm Cat mare).. He'll be very dangerous.. but after this performance here by Beholder, I think she's in pole position and might go off favourite..
Lee SOG Well looking at this performance from Beholder, AP will have to work very hard if he wants to pull off a win... I think if Gleneagles adapts well to dirt he'll certainly be very dangerous. I don't know any other entrants of the BCC, but if AP does run I'm certain Beholder will be a big threat, as will Gleneagles if he adapts...

Songbird wouldn't have chance against BEHOLDER she's got enough on her plate taking on BEHOLDER would be the start to her demise don't try to bite off more than you can chew BEHOLDER is a whole different animal she might wanna take on the three year old boys first BEHOLDER would be a tall order that's like taking a beginner in mountain climbing asking him to scale Everest in his first climb Songbird a nice filly but BEHOLDER would spank her then tell her to sit in a corner your on timeout and slap Jerry Hollendorfer in the head for sending Songbird to even run in a race with her I think Jerry is smarter than that they know who BEHOLDER is and if they know that they know who the best horse is in the world cause that's who BEHOLDER is she's the best horse in the WORLD
+AnnaNicolesDeathbed well if Birdsong would like a loss in her resume come and run with BEHOLDER she'll be more than happy to oblige her those losses of Beholder were a long time ago she's matured into a very smart and athletic mare a different animal I don't foresee a loss ever again in BEHOLDER'S future and by the way she went and beat all her rivals in the most important races of her career in the 2 year old juvenile in the Breeders Cup and the Breeders Cup Distaff at three at four she was sick and missed that years Breeders Cup and at 5 we wanted AP the TPC winner and unfortunately she bled in her last work luckily for American Pharaoh he dodged what would've been a very embarrassing moment for him a triple crown winner getting beat by a mare that would've been sad not to be like Baffert and Pletcher who run they're horses into the ground Richard Mandella takes very good care of his horses and it's his horses best interests comes first they're health comes first before any race that's why at 6 BEHOLDER still running and is the best horse in the country and most likely this whole WORLD
+AnnaNicolesDeathbed what I said was American Pharaoh dodged a bullet cause she unfortunately didn't get to run which is fine with me cause her health is the most important thing to me I'd rather her miss the race than something tragic happen to her on the track but Songbird is a very nice horse which I like very much but you don't take a baby and throw them to the wolves she's not even mature enough to run with three year old boys why would you take on the lioness you need to let her take on the likes of Nyquist and Exaggerator before she takes on the beast of which is BEHOLDER BEHOLDER is monster and for her to take down BEHOLDER would be a monumental task that's like Mayweather taking on Ali in his prime it ain't gonna happen but I'd love to see that Songbird Nyquist and Chrome all battling on the front end and BEHOLDER sitting tactically just waiting to pounce on them she'd have a field day the only thing they'll see is BEHOLDER'S vapor trail as she blazes on by it'll be daylight by 8 lengths maybe 10 if they go 45 for the half by 8 if it's 46

Once again many TH-cam commenters find it difficult to remain objective, and are too easily swept away by emotion.There is no doubt that Beholder's victory in the Pacific Classic is *visually the most impressive by a female* in an open company Grade One on dirt in North America in years. *But the Breeders Cup Classic is one of the two most competitive open dirt races at 10 furlongs internationally, along with the Dubai World Cup. That's why Jolypha's 3rd and Zenyatta's 2nd (on dirt) are still more remarkable efforts by females at this distance.* And that's doesn't diminish the quality of Beholder's performance in any way.
Hey where were European's in the Queen Anne when Tepin handed they're ASSES to them I told those Euro's weren't shit and Tepin would smoke that field and BEHOLDER is the horse in the world right now and she's gonna smoke your Dubai winner California Chrome and I hope all the Chrome's come out for the race and pay they're respect to BEHOLDER the queen of horse racing like ZENYATTA was ...you see BEHOLDER in the Vanity they went 25 and change the first quarter 49 and change for the half look back at the fractions in last year's Pacific Classic 22 change for the quarter 45 and change for the half see it doesn't matter to her what the fractions are she's gonna smoke your ASS just like ZENYATTA did and that field in the Vanity was a decent talented field of 6 horse field including last year's 3 year old champ all my buddies say California Chrome is a different horse from last year but you know what I tell them it doesn't matter cause BEHOLDER is the same horse she's always been a beautiful horse with a beautiful mind and an iron constitution BEHOLDER will deny California Chrome another breeders cup mark my word BEHOLDER will go down in history as one of the best horses ever Champion 2 year old juvenile champ Champion 3 year old distaff winner and Champion Breeders Cup Classic Winner I hope they all come and take her on California Chrome, Frosted, Nyquist, Exaggerator, and Creator whoever shows up they'll get they're ASSES handed to them mark my word they better have they're A game ready along with they're game face on cause its gonna be a doozy BEHOLDER by daylight

(2) Of course they can ship out of state, even out of the country, and do well, unlike Beholder, who seems to be a champion *only* in Southern California.

_Wise Dan_ won Grade One races on grass and dirt in Canada and the USA.
_California Chrome_ has won Grade One races across the USA and in Dubai.

Similarly, Beholder has to win at least a few graded stakes races *outside* of Southern California to be regarded as more than a 'one-trick pony'.
Nothing against her and her brilliance and endurance, but that's just the way it is.

please Rachel couldn't beat Zardana ZENYATTA'S stablemate that's why the match race never took place don't get me wrong Rachel's a very nice horse but no way she could be compared to ZENYATTA ZENYATTA would had Rachel for lunch chewed her up and spit her out ZENYATTA was a beast a legend and now BEHOLDER is following in her footsteps since ZENYATTA is now retired BEHOLDER is now the new queen and she's gonna spank all the boys there will be no King in this land only Queens and BEHOLDER is sitting on top of that thrown I hope they all come to take her on so there will be no questions after the race is ran as to who reigns supreme in this land you can have California Chrome Frosted, Nyquist, Exaggerator, Creator and even Flintshire if he wants to try the dirt actually he Flintshire would probably have the best chance of all the horses I mentioned but I don't think he wants a mile and quarter he wants a mile and a half better stay on the grass and if The Zayat's and Baffert would like bring back American Pharaoh that's who Team BEHOLDER wanted in the first place the triple crown winner BEHOLDER would've stomped his ASS.

This was my first time viewing the race? Was the track sped up that day? I know that was an awesome race by BEHOLDER? But two things 1. She carried less weight being a filly 2. Be realistic! The field she beat were show ponies, mules & donkeys! That field was awful! Bayern now cannot even compete. Each race worse & worse and eventually
was retired. The waters become very deep in the B.C. CLASSIC! No Creampuffs awaiting Oct 31!
