Exceller beat Seattle Slew and Affirmed Jockey Club Gold Cup. How about Alydar and Affirmed s trilple crown races.
I don't think I've ever wanted a horse to win a race more than Red Cadeaux. He never lost for lack of heart. RC became incredibly popular in Australia, and even here in NZ. I don't know anyone with an involvement or interest in racing that didn't feel it when he broke down and ultimately lost his life.

I don't know how you could put anything above the 1978 Belmont Stakes. This was the greatest contested horse race of all time. No question at all.

The 1978 Jockey Club Gold Cup will always be the greatest race for me. 3 Hall of Famer horses w/ 2 Triple Crown Winners (Affirmed, Seattle Slew, Exceller), 3 Hall of Fame Jocks, 1 1/2 mile race with splits of 22.3, 45.1, 109.2, with great duels at the beginning AND ends of the race, The Slew getting passed and then coming back, and Chick Donovan calling the race. How can this ever be topped? Seattle Slew's greatest race, even in defeat.

Honestly Winx vs Humidor was epic. Wasnt really a duel to be fair but when Humidor showed up on screen with that terrifying pace, the pub i was at in Melbourne absolutely erupted, one guy kicked his seat thinking he was about to lose on a $1.06 favourite. About 4-5 guys standing right at the screen giving their air horse the wildest ride of all time. It was absolute chaos for a good 2 minutes.

Some these were horse coming off the pace and catching a front running horse that technically not a duel. 1 should of of been affirmed vs alydar Belmont stakes they went 7f head to head, and they were rivals. silver charm vs freehouse Preakness, Santa Anita derby, San Vicente. fantastic light vs Galileo Irish campion stakes should of been in this video

1 Aussie horse race and it was a finish fought out by 2 internationals 🤦♂️🤦♂️ say what you want about Aussie racing but the 1986 Cox Plate finish is better than all 8 of these
