- Ever wondered what Monaco looks like when the F1 circuit is not there? Now it's possible with the Real Monaco free roam track mod for Assetto Corsa. It strangely feels familiar and unfamiliar at the same time.
This F1 2022 onboard lap is driven in Assetto Corsa with Charles Leclerc in the Ferrari F1-75 challenger.

Monaco is tiny. its 6 times smaller than Kensington and Chelsea in London. There isn't anywhere for them to go

i find it amazing how they can take a whole area of Monaco and turn it into a venue for an F1 race.. It just blows my mind tbh.. Seeing how it looks like without anything no barriers, no seating areas, no garages, no bridges, no cameras nothing months before the race.. Then again on race weekend when everything is setup with all the barriers, seating areas, garages, bridges, cameras everything... HUGE difference!
I've been there a couple of times for the Rally Monte-Carlo, I can spot some more differences:
-There should be at least 1 Lambo and 2-3 Porsches parked in the main straight.
-Tons of more Porsches and Twizys scattered around the whole track, specially the harbor.
-People queuing at the front of Fairmont Hotel.
-More people waiting to enter some of the restaurants in the swimming pool complex. No kidding, they have some good Martinis and pizzas for a (more or less) reasonable price.
-Someone parking weirdly his/her Ferrari at La Rascasse, no Schumacher 2006 pun intended.
-Someone dying on the inside because they forgot there's no roaming in Monaco and just lost 200 euros for a 2 min clip.
what does no roaming mean?
@@yutiros5174 I can't remember the exact term, but I mean smartphone Internet like 4G or 5G. Using that in Monaco instead of WiFi will HURT in your pockets. Even in a relatively short period of time.
My dad went to Monaco a few years ago and did like 4 laps on a rented Fiat 500 like this.

That last corner would be actually better for the drivers to face the straight with more speed maybe a little bit chance to overtake in that point.
the main problem to overtake is getting close to the walls is more scary in real life than in sims
If they go in with more speed it makes it harder to overtake, on slower corners the braking zone is bigger making it easier

Another issue would be entering the pit lane. If a car behind a pitting car doesn't pit, he'll crash into the back of them.

I've been in Monaco once and I drove around the circuit with a rental car. It was an amazing and exciting feeling!
Also, you should have taken the roundabout of the casino going right instead of doing the racing line, but above all the lap was great!

For those wondering about the lap time, it was around a 1:17.
Removing the barriers helps demonstrate even better than the races themselves the absolute lunacy of continuing to race in Monaco.

That's pure INSANITY !!! Instead of a guard rail, you have rows of parked cars and huge flowers pots waiting for you.

What many people propably dont know, that the Race Tracks geht's resurfaced before every Race Weekend, to smoothen it out and make it grippier

Now picture this only in 1970. There are over 25 photos I took driving this circuit. Then I got out at Gasometer hairpin and took a pic of Jack Brahbam's skid marks. This was a week after the greatest finish in Monaco GP history.

This is an endgame unlock for Leclerc when he wins the title.
Drive a F1 car on normal roads without barrier in Monaco and you will be end up in a Presidential Suite of any Luxury Hotel.
Monaco is expanding in the port area so the land reclamation and apartment building is missing. But the new Casino Square is present so that is cool enough.
Every policeman and patrol on this island easily sitting on their office and not always been busy doing outdoor duty 😂

Damn, add a few more obstacles and turn the Monaco GP into a time trial event - everyone gets 3 - 5 laps and the best average time will gets the win. Looks a lot more fun than seeing unweildy, big cars trying to overtake at the same spots and not making it because they run out of space.

Probably worth mentioning that the nouvelle chicane isn't part of the "normal" road. Normal daytime running is straight down with a small kink, like the chicane used to be in the 80s.
You should also do a version of this where you’re still in an F1 car but you have to follow traffic laws (i.e. lane usage, speed limits, signs, etc)
Olivier Panis did a lap among real traffic in 1997. I think the team had a car launch in the city followed by a lap around the circuit.
With that crash at the end you made it more realistic
