0:48 I used the "DIG" brand from Lowe's (the box store) and quickly I figured an easy/fast way to push the emitters in the little drip tubing !!! Just warm up a little water in a cup and place the tubing in the water for a second or two. It works like a charm. The emitter just slides in without you killing your hands. best of luck everybody.

TYSM for doing these videos, Laura! We're now installing drip on all our flower beds, veggie raised beds & containers b/c after watching your vids, we knew we could do it. What a joy it will be to no longer have to hand water all this, especially during the hot summer.

Anytime we would go away for the weekend, much less a vacation week, my flowers suffered greatly. I am totally inspired to convert to a drip system for my flower beds after subscribing to your videos. I bought tubing, emitters, and fittings yesterday and plan to set it up today!

I used to use soaker hoses, I started following your journey last summer and was so impressed with the drip irrigation system that I started to purchase tubing etc last year and had it set up on a much smaller scale. This year I think I have it completed, unless I add more flowerbeds and pots :) I cannot believe what a difference it has made, we have had such a hot dry summer so far and my flower beds are amazing. Thanks so much for all of your inspiration I watched your videos several times during my installation process. Thank you. Much better than soaker hoses!

I have been thinking of setting my pots up on drip for years. I finally did about half several weeks ago. I wish I had done it sooner. Way easier than I thought it would be and makes life simpler. Great video.

I really want to learn how to use a drip system. Do you just leave the faucet on all the time and the timer send the water through when the timer goes off? What if I needed to use that faucet for a hose as well? how would that work? Does one line have to have all the same size emitters on it in order to work properly? Thanks so much I just love your videos.

I had trouble finding the little tacks that you showed and then when I finally did they were way $$$. Then a guy at the store suggested using electrical wire tacks!!! What do u know they were the exact same thing but you can get 4x the amount for the same price. Just thought people might like that little tip.

After viewing your initial review of the Proven Winners kit, I purchased two kits and extra parts BUT not until after I looked at what was available from other companies online and in "box stores." The flexible tubing and ease of connecting it all together 'sold me' on the PW systems. Your video was very helpful, but I will also say that it is truly an easy system to set-up and doesn't require any special tools which is great. Also, and I am just an ordinary customer, the folks at PW were very helpful on the phone and one guy rep told me about his own experience with the system and gave me his direct work email in case I needed to ask any questions or had any issues with set-up or use. I'm still learning how to adjust the water to meet the requirements for the system I set up for about 12 pots along opposite sides of steps leading to our back door, but that is somewhat due to our changing Deep South weather. However, we can leave town for a few days without being concerned about our plants dying. The step containers were a 'test' before we set up a large system for my husband's bonsai garden which dries out VERY quickly due to the shallow containers and helpful friends and neighbors don't want to be coming over to water multiple times a day during the hottest and driest of Georgia days. Thanks again for your help and for sharing your practical tips, helpful information about plants & planting. You do so in an informative and natural manner, willing to admit your errors - learning opportunities - as well as your successes!

Love the information....I am in Gonzales, Louisiana, and this is my first garden....small but moving along.....love getting my hands in the dirt....my garden consist of flowers, etc I have found as I walk through parks (basically items growing along the sidewalk) or empty lots....but next year hope to add plants from a nursery or local box stores.....love it....will definitely invest in more colored plants.....realize that color truly attracts birds and I love seeing them bloom....Dr. Handy

I have 2 of the Melnor raincloud valve units and, although i have only been using that system about a month, i love the convenience and ease of controlling it remotely. So much easier for those with mobility issues. It is worth the money to me. I started out with just one controller and valve unit and added the 2nd after seeing the benefits. Intend to get another, hellstrip-type, bed set up on soaker hoses using the last outlet to make things even easier. Maybe then i wont have to spend an hour a day watering.

Laura, when you showed the wifi enabled timer, I laughed out loud. My middle son is all about digital everything, hi tech, etc. He would love that! He said if we wanted him to set up all the timers on our Christmas lights that we NEEDED digital timers. He would stand outside after he got them all hooked up and point to each area, say NOW, and the lights would come on!! Reminded me of the burglers casing the houses with light timers in Home Alone. lol

As I garden on the seashore, we get heat and wind, so drying out is just the name of the game. Because of that I am often sticking with Mediterranean plants and succulents that don't mind that, however, you keep intriguing me to try drip. If I had this to my pots and beds on my terrace on the sea side of my house, I think I could introduce more water-loving perennials and a larger variety of annuals.
Can you have borders, beds and pots in one area all on one drip system and what is the best way to divide that up? Like 1/4 inch tubing to start? 1/2 inch? We also don't have great pressure so I wonder if I could only do maybe 25 feet distance from my house outlets? I know you get 1000's of questions, but hopefully you see this :)
Again, so happy to have found you this Summer. I love your channel and my FAVOURITE is when you just walk us about your garden and talk about it. I love gardening and with gardening friends its so fun to just walk and talk about plants and look at things, so it gives us that feel that we are just stopping in for a cuppa and a quick poke round your space. So I hope you do more 'walk with me around my garden' posts! I don't even care if it's just the same few beds each week, to show us how things are progressing :)
Thanks again for all you do.

Does the backflow prevention device work when the tubing has to go up to your hayracks? I have several planters that are four feet above the faucet line. Also, I have a sloped front yard that I would love to set up irrigation tubing, and the soaker hoses didn't work. Maybe because they aren't pressurized?

Hey Laura, I have been binge watching your older videos lately. Was wondering if you would ever think of planting a Jacaranda tree on your property? Or what your thoughts are on Jacaranda's - not sure if they'd be suitable for your climate but we have a tonne where I live in Sydney and they are so pretty in front of the cottages.

Jasmine French those aren’t suitable for zone 5. I live in a zone 5 and I was super disappointed that we can’t plant those here. My mom lives in a zone 11 in Texas so I’m going to go buy her one for her front yard 🤗
They’re one of the most gorgeous trees

Amanda Knobbe they are so pretty. We're kinda lucky where I live because it's on the cooler side of Sydney, closer to the Blue Mountains. They grow super well in my fathers suburb, Parramatta as it is a bit warmer, but we still see them speckled about out here. My husband and I have been looking at buying property but I have so many prerequisites like "must have jacaranda tree or for them to be planted there okay"

Thanks for all your great and inspiring videos! I have questions! Is this where I can ask them? If not, please let me know. Q1: I assume from where you live you have alkaline water, yet you have so much drip irrigation. How do you deal with the alkalinity clogging your emitters? Q2: On your garden tours, I love the way your garden is divided into "room." How would you suggest creating rooms when starting with a sort of "blank slate?" Is that something you could address in one of your upcoming videos? Thanks again.
