After watching this video, I wanted to share a trick my awesome husband figured out. We just finished installing drip to our containers and of course I already had them potted up, so we had to run the 1/4" tubing on the outside of the pots this year. In order to keep that tubing in place, he used binder clips (the black ones typically found in an office) to hold the tubing in place. He ran the tubing through the silver part of the clip, then just clipped it to the side of the container- genius!!!💖💖💖 He used the mini size, but they have any size you need for your containers. It has been fabulous!!
Laura, please know that you are the best instructor. I have tried to watch other TH-cam videos and get instructions and their style is random, wordy, personal chitter chatter and lengthy. You guys have these tutorials on point and edit and speed up just at the right places and you stay in point and explain it just as we need it. Thank you so so much to you and your team!!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE that you are the one to show us all of this, Laura. You inspire me to educate myself and get out there and do these things instead of waiting for my husband to do it! He is very capable, but now I realize that I am too!👩🌾💪🌼💛💚💜
Yes 🙌! I run all the drip irrigation and my husband manages the sprinkler system. Although there’s no shame in asking him to tighten a fitting or two when they won’t cooperate with me 😂
Drip is definitely a game changer… And never feel embarrassed about laying your fittings out on the store floor… Sometimes you just need to lay it out to see what you’ve got.. 💁🏼♀️
I was in Home Depot one time and there was 3 of us with all of our parts laid out on the floor...it was a blast!! We were trading parts... No-I think this would work for you better ..... Here, try this one for yours!! And I think we all got exactly what we needed--I know I did!
I bought mine online but I had a written list of what I needed that I had done research for and some drawings as well which really help with the visual and to count how many of each part I would need.
Hi Laura! You might not see this, but your videos are my happy place. I bought my first apartment in a complex. I only have 2 flower beds. When I moved in it was barren and with you helpful content I have a baby garden! Thank you so much. Much love from South Africa 🇿🇦 Chef Riana
Oh my goodness, thanks for clarifying this hose thread pipe thread stuff, trying to connect the darn things together when I was setting up irrigation was driving me crazy... now I know why. 😭🤣👍❤️
This is so good of a walk-through. I've had everything laid out on the floor in Home Depot pretending I'm trying to hook it all up. No one stares, so it seems it might be common practice. 😂
Yep I do it all the time and no one seems to care. All the parts look similar but can be quite different so it keeps me from having to make a second trip!
Last day of vacation! Greetings fellow Garden Answer Groupies 😀 I get to relax with Laura and ☕ before we get back on the road. Happy Gardening Laura and Aaron 🌿💚🌿
isn't that a lightbulb moment??? electricians have been doing similar procedures for years (they call it 'fishing the line') i think... i'm like DUUUHHHH :)
see….THIS is why I watch Garden Answer. You two make everything feel accessible! I am trying a soaker hose on a timer for the first time this year, and i’m already anticipating I will be using it A LOT this year. Before, I hand watered and always had issues like blossom end rot. I’m hoping this consistency helps. Thank you for the inspiration, Laura and Aaron! You guys even inspired me to start my own little youtube channel 🤗🌱 Anyway, have a great day everybody!
@Angel Of Domestic Bliss hello 🤗🌱 CorrectI was growing in pots last year and I was watering really inconsistently, which I read leads to a plants inability to pull up calcium from the soil. I bought some “rot stop” because it was too late for the eggs. And I just realized I forgot the eggs in the planting hole again this year 😱😂🤦🏽♀️
Soaker hoses really helped me the last couple years. I have the cheap dial timers so I still have to remember to go out & set it but at least I don't have to worry about forgetting that the water is on & flooding my plants.
@@mellfraze8112 yes even having the soaker hose there and hooking up the hose to water while I do other things in the garden is easier than hand watering. I have mine on a quick connect so it’s super easy.
I've learned so much from y'all about drip, my husband and I installed it everywhere a few years ago from watching your channel. This year I pulled it all out and put it in a grid pattern like Paul did and the pressure is so much better and you're right we evolve and just keep improving. Whenever I put 1/2 inch black tubing in a walkaway I run it through PVC pipe to protect it from puncturing.
@anand bagmar That's right, you have to put the teflon tape in a clockwise direction when you hold the pipe in front of you. This way, when you put your fitting on which is also in the clockwise direction, you won't bunch up the tape. If you put the tape on in a counterclockwise direction, when you put a fitting on, it will bunch up because you are essentially moving the fitting against the direction that the tape is lying. There are several YT videos on this....
Good video. Drip irrigation is easy, relatively inexpensive, and efficient. It’s also very forgiving - there are no mistakes that can not be easily remedied. 😅 I just set up a similar system for the 12 planters along our back patio tapping off of a hose spigot with a splitter with a Bluetooth controlled timer, and a similar setup with the backflow preventer, pressure regulator, and filter. Works like a charm. My wife is happy and now my daughter wants a similar setup at her house!
My husband says I can’t have a drip system like Laura until I start making money from my gardening like Laura. 😕😁 It’s all in good fun, while I’m working in the garden he’ll also ask “ is that how Laura does it”? Or he’ll call me on his way to work and say “I’m not interrupting your Laura time am I ?” Just this weekend we planted a huge area of about 14 varieties of squash and pumpkins and when we were finished he said “Is Laura planting pumpkins? Is that why we are doing this?” 😂 Thanks so much for all your wonderful informative videos and for giving my husband something to tease me about. 💗
Drip irrigation is actually more efficient and uses less water than overhead watering. If you pay for water, it will eventually pay for itself. You can try that 😋
I am so spoiled with your regular videos…and I don’t even garden!! I’m always refreshing my TH-cam feed, saying to myself…where’s my GA video!! Thank you from the bottom of my non-gardening heart!!
Thank you for this video! You guys have definitely inspired me to want to install drip in my flower beds! Your explanations of everything makes it seem not so scary to tackle! Much appreciated! 🥰🥰
Really appreciate the time this took to film. I feel more confident about trying drip. I would have liked the video to slow down when you were putting together the timer and other items, just to watch the pieces go together.

I’ve never ran drip before but watching you all has encouraged, educated, and inspired me to try. My husband and I have set up almost all our beds on drip, and now I see all the time (and better success hopefully 🤣) I’m going to have this year without the task of watering. Thank you!
G' morning! 🌞 PERFECT TIMING! I am waiting for my shipments to arrive today and tomorrow with my pressure regulator/filter, backflow preventer and ½in blank supply line. Being on a tight budget I had to order in segments. Last Fall I purchased the connectors, goof plugs, emitters , ¼ in line and shut off valves. My son gave me a 4 zone timer for Christmas... so I will be bringing ALL THINGS drip irrigation tonight to refresh my memory. Thank you for this additional information! Happy Friday!
After watching your earlier videos I bought the Dig starter kit from Home Depot. You made it easy for me to set it up for my patio garden. I had a few questions about using it with my water barrel which were answered by helpful people at Dig customer service. Thank you so much for making videos on this topic and for maintaining your incredible number of postings. I admire your work ethic.
I never knew about drip irrigation until I started watching your videos and it has been a game changer in my garden! Thank you for videos like this that are so helpful . As I was working on tweaking an area of drip in the garden last night my husband came to help and brought out a heat gun and all sorts of tools and I just looked at him and said “ Laura doesn’t need a heat gun or tools- she snaps it all together by hand just like that!”
Dear Aaron & Laura, thank you so much for continuing to share your God given gift with us. You have empowered us to create a veggie garden and now a flower garden and flowering pots around our home. Our home is so welcoming and provides a sanctuary we didn’t know we needed. Would you believe our boys and I just pulled two types of garlic from our raised bed! We are looking forward to sharing them with friends. Irrigation is now on our list and thanks to you we know we will have no problem tackling this task. You have removed the fear we had. From the bottom of our hearts thank you.
All I can say is, your parents must be so proud to see how self sufficient and resourceful you both are with each task at hand and how articulate you are in explaining something so complex like this. It’s a skill you’ve mastered from experience. I know this is a 2year old video so you’ve grown so much more then to now. Do you ever go back and watch your first videos to see the confidence building in all you’ve achieved? Thx Laura & Aaron for sharing.
Rain bird makes a kit that gives you all the hose parts and some black supply line, so 1/2 drip tube and 1/4 inch tubing and some emitters. This is a very simple way to get started!
I’m not a gardener and have never commented on a TH-cam video before...but I am so inspired by you and you motivate me every day to want to make my garden better. I asked my husband if it was possible to add drip to our outdoor tap (because you’ve given me the “add drip to everything bug”)..he didn’t think so and then today, your video posted! Thank you, exactly the information I needed! 😊
Earlier this year, I had a drip system installed. Living in Northern California which is going through a drought, I wanted to reduce water usage and drip irrigation was a good solution. Installation seemed complicated and buying supplies even more so, so I hired an expert. Your video breaks down the process in simple, easy to understand steps. I feel like after watching your video, I could’ve tackled it. Thanks for the great video.
Perfect tutorial for drip systems in pots that I need for 4 pots. Two pots are near one spigot, and two pots are near another spigot. Very doable now. Thanks for filming this one.
I set up drip for the first time this year and it was a tedious process. But it is truly worth it! I no longer need to drag a hose in the hot sun and water all my containers (do you hear the angels singing). I just check emitters from time to time to make sure they are okay. I am so proud of myself for setting this up and I would not have known about it if it wasn't for Laura and Aaron. Thanks Guys!!
I'm having my husband watch this as he does everything himself so I can put my raised beds and pots on the drip hose. Thank you for this awesome tutorial!
Thanks for the video! I have installed drip in part of my garden this year, making small adjustments as I learn more and see how it is working. Would you consider a "what would Aaron do?" video to provide suggestions on irrigation design for different setups and help troubleshoot common problems? Thanks!
Great video. Setting up drip for my planters has been the #1 reason they’ve looked as amazing as they have over the past several years. It started after a neighbor said he’d water my plants when I went away for a few days and I came home to plants that were almost dead.
Adding drip to our garden beds and pots has been a game changer for me. The plants are happier and I have gained so much time that used to be taken up watering. And I learned it all watching Garden Answer…thanks!!
I have installed this Gilmore timer and connections for a large flower bed and has performed wonderfully for eight years now. What a time saver! I highly recommend this reliable timer, it's very easy to set up and program. Thanks for this video, you have explained everything very well.
Good Morning, Happy Friday Garden Answer Team & following frriends! I am thankful for the tutorial...I do not have alot of yard or enough planted pots to warrant a drip system, but everytime I water & drag my hose around and carefully over /around ground plants, flowers trying not to disrupt my plants I think of how nice a drip system would be. Have a great day all!
I have to say if you have Any amount plants and ever leave home for even a weekend it is worth having🤗 also I just enjoy more time to have to weed or just enjoy my small garden pots etc., also I have a double timer and one side run a hose and sprinkler to a section of lawn. My daughter just set a little money aside each week in the winter and come spring she could afford the system🤗
@@tamararobinson2069 ...Funny you mention leaving for a weekend...I did exactly that & left my husband in charge of watering....he did water but when I pulled in and seen my sad droopy plants, instantly knew he didnt listen & had not given enough, nor watered all of them......they have all rebounded back....thankfully. I am thinking more & more about the small investment for drip...
Just set most of mine up for the first time this year. GAME CHANGER!! Now, if you could just do a winterizing of these hose setups EARLY...so we all have time to gather up any supplies we may need. Thanks for all the inspiration!
💦💧Thank you, to both of you! We literally just finished a very large drip system on our veggie, herb and flower garden, we had leaks just about everywhere, from the timer, and further down. I didn’t realize that there were two different types, pipe thread and hose thread, cause I didn’t set that part up, my husband did. He said he did realize this, but thought it didn’t really matter much, but like Aaron said, the more you crank on them to get rid of the leaks, you ruin the threads. We will now get the adapters, from hose thread to pipe thread, and hopefully solve our leaking mess! Also, just the complete overview was really informative, as there are so many different ways to set up a drip system. Thanks again, for explaining every step, and in such wonderful detail! I love all of your videos, as they are jam packed with great information, and fun too, but this one really hit at the right time for us, and was really a huge help. 💧💦
It’s been three years I’ve wanted to run a drip system for my garden. Every time I think about it, I think of you and your wonderful video of how to. This will be the year. Thank you for showing us how easy it is.
Omg! Just yesterday we were attempting to set up a new drip system and got frustrated when we realized that the hose faucet was too close to the ground to install "all the things." And then Laura and Aaron come along and save the day! An elbow connector! Who knew? I didn't! The heavens opened up and the angels came down! Hallelujah!!! Thank you so much for continuing to being the answer to all my prayers!
Hi Laura and Aaron. Finally, a video about setting up drip irrigation in containers from start to finish, showing us all of the parts needed and demonstrating how it's done. WOW! So much involved! You answered all of the questions I had wondered about. It's great getting all this information from one source, rather than having to search here and there to "put it all together." Thank you so much! Love your videos; look forward to seeing what you've posted every day.
Adding the pipe tape… obvious but we missed it and had small dripping despite a tight installation. Redid with pipe tape after your video and drips are gone. 😀 Thank you for your candid and thorough instructions. You’re a blessing.
These videos take me back. When I was a teenager I used to help install irrigation lines on my dad's farm/ranch. My main job was to punch holes in the tubing and insert spray emitters at the base of each tree. He grew avocados on several thousand acres of land.
Thank you for sharing your working knowledge of installing drip. I know that we will all need something a little different but seeing it being put together is so helpful!
Just went to Home Depot yesterday and bought a bunch of stuff to set up a drip system for my 50 or so containers in my back yard. I have been hand watering these everyday for the last couple of years and never thought about a system like this. New to gardening & just didn’t know much about drip systems. Glad I found your channel & your video because maybe my plants will survive better this summer.
I appreciate how you explained of how each situation will need to be different. Not because one is better then another but because thats just the nature of the project. Saying how you will need to stand in the hardware aisle and see what they have and giving brief examples was very helpful. Often I see people only mention it in passing which often comes across as "you could do it other ways but I am doing to show you the best way", as they proceed to copy what you have exactly.
, winner winner chicken dinner--you deserve an Emmy for this video. Even at my advanced age I could understand how it worked and how it went together and how each part was needed. Most of us would not have known about hose thread and pipe thread. Now we do, and I always use that Teflon tape whenever I have hoses connected together that still leak in spite of new gaskets. Superb show you two, you had my complete attention the entire time Drip tube demystified ‼️
Laura this is incredibly helpful!!! Your detail is so great that I'm not afraid to give this a try!!! Thank you thank you thank!!!! You're a natural at teaching!!! God really gifted you!!!!
So rewarding to have a drip system set up to make gardening easier. Seeing your organized "how to" makes this task less intimidating...thanks for the hands on guys!
This has been so helpful! I did my window boxes with the PW water wise kit and now have all my pots to do. The only issues I’m having is locating parts. Everyone is still discovering the joys of gardening and buying all the things 🤣. Thank you for this video and all you do to inspire us daily!!!

Cannot give you both enough kudos for this video!!! Our new home has no irrigation set up and some plants are suffering for the lack of water. I was JUST thinking two days ago that a temporary hose-connected irrigation system would be the ideal solution, and boom, along you guys come with a helpful, detailed explanation. And a great attitude about all the work involved to boot. I don't know you guys but I love you! Thank you.
This is VERY helpful! I had watched all videos with your irrigation system, and boy, I watched them many times. I thought I was ready!!! LOL. I visited the hardware store multiple times and stood in front of the same isle for hours. At home, once I had finished connecting all pieces for my small irrigation system, I turned the faucet on and wow it was leaking at every single connection. It took a couple of days to realize that I needed to use the thread seal tape. Lots of 💦 but so worth it.
You are a phenomenal teacher! Not only do you explain, but you demonstrate as well. I am now putting in drip and fixing drip on my own thanks to you and Erin. Also, you make learning fun, so I want to go out into my garden and try new things. You’re a true inspiration!
Love this! I just installed drip irrigation myself this year and I was very intimidated at first, but it got easier the more I did it. Just a tip if you have to garden while it's hot and sunny out and there isn't any shade - I have an old patio umbrella and umbrella base that I plop down wherever I need some shade so I can work in the garden and not burn up under the hot sun. 😊
This wasn’t confusing at all…actually we are working to add more automation to our watering system and this was perfect! 🥰I really appreciate all the different scenarios and solutions. We have a spigot that is only 5 inches off of a concrete slab. I was dreading it, but this absolutely helps a ton!!! Thank you for doing such a thorough video on drip irrigation👏🏻
The project this weekend was to finally set up the drip irrigation to my pots. But the first thing I do every Saturday morning is watch the latest Garden Answer videos with my coffee. And there were Laura and Aaron. Reading my mind and giving me exactly what I needed to go that much further in my gardening journey. It’s not an exaggeration to say that that the reason I’m a gardener now is Garden Answer. Thank you guys for doing what you do.
Soooo much I love about this video. Laura explaining the irrigation techniques, showing women everywhere that they can do this themselves. Excellent explanation by the way. So many different scenarios explained. Giving the reason to all the why's. So many tips and tricks. I'm so grateful for you and Aaron sharing all your experience and knowledge. I watch every day.
Thank you SOOOOO much. You sold me on drip, both in ground and pots, when I started watching you a few years ago. "Sold", but getting to it has been another story. I bought and started to set up some things last year, but still don't have it going. Everything for me will have to be off a faucet. I have a HUGE, LONG line of pots I do, as well as my in ground stuff. I've watched several of your videos on this, more than once. This one is a great help (so were the others) and once again gets me motivated to get it done. Hand watering is just killing me(time-wise) and I can't keep consistent enough. And I always have to have someone come take care of stuff for vacation. If I could get my drip going, I'd still need someone, but it would be so much easier for them.
I just wanna take a moment for THANKING LAURA AND AARON. 💓💓For all this basic information that they have given me throughout the years.. I started watching their videos when I was 14 years old...and now i am 16.. at this age i have taken the charge of our small land that is also like Mars 😂and I have almost converted into a beautiful garden i am still an in-progress learner...u helped me found tha this is my passion..now all i wanna do is gardening. I do kill plants and do mistakes...but i always remember that LAURA does that too...nd that gives me motivation to start again...now all i wish is buying a huge land when i grow old...and make the a beautiful garden like yours... I don't know if u guys will read this but i wanna say that...i remember that u once said that u guys with proven winners are not trying to sell stuff but to introduce people to this hobby...i wanna say that u guys DID it!!!U guy WON!!🤭 U guys gave me my passion and I can't be grateful enough for it...🌻🌻💓🌳🌳
This couldn’t have come at a better time!! I have been researching, watching videos, and playing with adding items to my DripDepot cart, BUT have yet to see an instructional video setting up drip line from faucet source! Thank you, thank you, thank you! After watching your video, I pulled the trigger on my “shopping cart” and ordered my parts. Can’t wait to set it up!!! ❣️✅
Desert gardening requires irrigation drip. I appreciate you showing all the options for emitters, drip tubing, staples, etc. Very informative and clear. Thank you!
Oh my gosh, what a coincidence my ordered irrigation system is arriving today, Friday. I'm excited but no idea what I'm going to build. Well I know what I need, but I have never done such a thing. Everything I'm doing this year is new, because I found a TH-camr that inspires me so much, all of a sudden I have a new friend named Laura and a new hobby also. Only because Laura and her wisdom make me feel like a solid grower. (Which I have never done before).
After watching some of your videos in the past about setting up drip, I successfully set it up for my containers in the front of my house! I felt so proud of myself and it was all thanks to you showing me how and giving me the confidence to tackle something new! THANK YOU! Now, this video helped me understand the drip tubing (and where to get it - thank you for the links!!) so that I can be as successful in setting it up for my hanging baskets on my back deck. I've got a new project and just in time for our July vacation! Thank you, Laura, Aaron, (and et al) for being so incredibly helpful!!
What great timing. Just yesterday I was telling a friend that I need to get a plumber to fix my leaky toilet so instead of coming for just that simple job wouldn’t it make sense to get him to change the garden faucet so it splits off then I could run one hose to the beds and another longer hose across the ground to where I keep my little plot of containers for all my vegetables (at least 80% of the backyard is concrete) and I could even stretch the budget a bit and put them all on drip, just as Laura do!! My friend said sure, that’s easy enough and a very doable DIY that “WE” can tackle!! Now, after watching (and re-watching) you go at it my head is still spinning and the glaze in my eyes haven’t cleared - if this ever becomes a reality Mr. Plumber/Handyman or some other expert will have to take charge and put it in place for me!!! 🤣🤣🤣
You inspired me to set up drip last year as I started gardening. Some days watering by hand is relaxing, other days it is a chore that takes a lot of time that I need for another task. I didn't lose a single plant due to lack of water. This year, I've slowly turned the drip on as the weather has gotten warmer. My flowers are amazing! I'm enjoying them so much! Thank you for helping me succeed!
Two years ago I pulled up a video where Laura showed us how to use drip in her vegetable beds and then a few more videos setting up her pots. One in particular where she used a circular saw to carve out a line in a cement slab for her alley pots. That was clever. I sat down and started plotting out everything I needed. I stared with a small bed first. Easier than I thought. Only trouble was that after awhile, my fingers got sore from pushing all the barbed connectors through the ends of the tubings!!!! Other than that, it became easier to know what I needed an how to do it. Even this video I learned a couple more things. But the time saved, like some 3-4 hours a day of watering, was a life saver. . As for timers, I use the Melnor, quad system on the front and back faucets. I regulate them with my phone. It all was well worth the time and effort to learn and setup an irrigation system. Thank you Laura.
Super helpful showing this connecting to a faucet, which is my situation...there were a few projects for friend's homes when you did this too, but here you really broke it down. I feel like I can have full confidence in putting my front beds on drip! Thank you so much GA! My hydrangeas especially thank you!
Excellent tutorial. I went through this learning curve last year when I converted my old irrigation to drip. My garden has never looked better. Plants in the ground and all my containers are living their best life! Thanks Laura and Aaron
Loving the irrigation videos. I am in the process of setting up drip system with my Mum so she can continue to have a beautiful garden without needing to pull out the hose unless she really wants to. Thank you Laura and Aaron (and your team too) for all the work you do ♥️💐
It wasn’t confusing for me because I’m right in the middle of putting my pots and raised beds on drip and I’ve already pretty much sorted it out. But as I watched, I thought that it would have been helpful to see one setup done from water source to pot emitters. Then go back and deal with the variables. Your previous videos have helped me SO much. I really impressed the guys at the sprinkler store with my knowledge of terms and understanding of the sequencing 😊. Thanks.
I did the drip irrigation system like this along our side yard flower bed. I watched another video of yours where you explained all of this while in the store to make sure I had everything I needed, lol. Having fibromyalgia, an autoimmune disease, and other health problems I know I could never do all that you do, but I am doing more than I have before and it’s all thanks to you. You are an inspiration! ❣️
Remember when you did your presentation all about drip irrigation at the Northwest Flower and Garden show in Seattle? Then you confessed that you felt so silly because of how wet our area is.. I was there and I thought it was great! I ran drip this year and the only reason I knew how to do it was all because of you! Thank you for everything. 😊 (I regret not standing in line for a meet and greet 😞)
I love your work! You've inspired us to create our own garden oasis. So much so that my husband built post planters for me! Everyday my husband and I just stare at all the flowers! Thanks soooo much for this video! I just shared it with my husband.
Your channel is so awesome. I learn so much and get great information on how to fix my problems. My faucet is so close to the ground it’s a struggle to even get my hose splitter attached much less my hoses. Boom!!! Use an elbow. You saved the day. No more struggling with hoses at the beginning of every year.
Laura and Aaron hit it out the park with this one. Thank you so much for a detailed overview i needed this. I think I've watched all of your irrigation videos so that I can water certain areas and this was perfect. Thank you!
Thank you so much for this video. I really enjoyed learning the different components of the drip system. I may actually try this. For sure I’ll use that elbow I didn’t know existed for my low knuckle busting Faucet.
THIS is so PERFECT!!! My husband and I will be away from our home for quite a while this summer and I have been desperately trying to figure out how the plants will survive without us. Seriously, I can't thank you enough for this demonstration and explanation! When it comes to watering, I have been fighting with a mess for a long time and you have helped me see and understand what I need to do.
I am so loving that hedge of green behind you. I remember the day you (and by you I mean we, cuz of course as your audience we are all mentally grabbing a shovel and getting dirty right along with you😁) planted them. So dang pretty!
Laura, you did a great job of explaining the drip system. I have been telling my wife that it's time to add drip to our hosta beds so that we can save time watering each day and you showed me some ideas that will help make that a reality. Thanks for sharing your years of experience with us!
Thank you so much. We installed our first drip system in the spring. We can now see that the sprinkler retailer sold us the right things. I'll save this video for future projects since we've accomplished once, we'd like to try more. For non expensive risers to go under pots, check out dollar tree for wood blocks. Or even cheaper, scrap wood blocks. Again, thank you Aaron and Laura. Well explained.
So happy you posted this I have a bunch already potted and was trying to figure out how to stabilize the tubing!!!
I have never felt so cool as I did when I put my pots on drip after watching Laura for years.
Laura, please know that you are the best instructor. I have tried to watch other TH-cam videos and get instructions and their style is random, wordy, personal chitter chatter and lengthy. Yes 🙌! I run all the drip irrigation and my husband manages the sprinkler system. Although there’s no shame in asking him to tighten a fitting or two when they won’t cooperate with me 😂
I was just coming on here to say the same! I set up our system along our side yard flower bed, I was so proud of myself!
Agree with you Laura is Great Lady who sharing gardening tips very detail by explaining , have a nice day to you
So true!
good for you!
Holy cow, that "just use a stake" trick to get the tube in is genius 😳👏👌
Drip is definitely a game changer… And never feel embarrassed about laying your fittings out on the store floor… Sometimes you just need to lay it out to see what you’ve got.. 💁🏼♀️
So true, I’ve done this many times and no one seems to think it’s strange 😂
I was in Home Depot one time and there was 3 of us with all of our parts laid out on the floor...it was a blast!! We were trading parts... No-I think this would work for you better ..... Here, try this one for yours!! And I think we all got exactly what we needed--I know I did!
@@klcpca Ha! That's my kind of isle.. classic!!
@@TexasMyTexas it was awesome!! LOL

Aaron and Lauren, I hope you realize how POWERFUL you have made your subscribers feel.
Greetings fellow Garden Answer Groupies 😀
I get to relax with Laura and ☕
before we get back on the road.
Happy Gardening Laura and Aaron 🌿💚🌿
Genius! Garden steak and tape! I was wondering how she was going to pull the tubing thru the dirt!👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
isn't that a lightbulb moment??? electricians have been doing similar procedures for years (they call it 'fishing the line') i think... i'm like DUUUHHHH :)
Do you have a well
You must mean 'stake' 🤔
I know! So smart! Every time I’ve forgotten in the past I was frustrated at myself. Now I can just fix it! 😁
see….THIS is why I watch Garden Answer.
And I just realized I forgot the eggs in the planting hole again this year 😱😂🤦🏽♀️
@Angel Of Domestic Bliss thank you! you too! 🤗🌱
Be sure to put the teflon thread tape on the threads CLOCKWISE.
Yes. The direction you apply the tape definitely matters.
A lesson we learn the hard way!
I didn’t know that! Thank you! That’s super helpful. Now I’m gonna go check all my fittings and see what the heck I did.
Where do you get the thread adapter female to female hose to irrigation fitting, it's white in the video?
@anand bagmar That's right, you have to put the teflon tape in a clockwise direction when you hold the pipe in front of you. This way, when you put your fitting on which is also in the clockwise direction, you won't bunch up the tape. If you put the tape on in a counterclockwise direction, when you put a fitting on, it will bunch up because you are essentially moving the fitting against the direction that the tape is lying. There are several YT videos on this....
Good morning everyone & TGIF!!. Who else sits with coffee & waits for 7 am? Lol. ME!!!
It’s all in good fun, while I’m working in the garden he’ll also ask “ is that how Laura does it”? Or he’ll call me on his way to work and say “I’m not interrupting your Laura time am I ?”
Just this weekend we planted a huge area of about 14 varieties of squash and pumpkins and when we were finished he said “Is Laura planting pumpkins? Is that why we are doing this?” 😂
Thanks so much for all your wonderful informative videos and for giving my husband something to tease me about. 💗
😂😂😂
Makes sense if u r poor
Drip irrigation is actually more efficient and uses less water than overhead watering.
If you pay for water, it will eventually pay for itself. You can try that 😋
😂😂😂😂
LOL! Are we married to the same man? 😂
I am so spoiled with your regular videos…and I don’t even garden!! I’m always refreshing my TH-cam feed, saying to myself…where’s my GA video!! Thank you from the bottom of my non-gardening heart!!
Thank you for explaining all the parts and options. The difference in hose threads vs pipe threads was a game changer for me.
I'm saving this video to study it later and watch it a dozen more times. I took a sprinkler irrigation class in college and I approve of this video.

Agreed. Great way to get started is with a kit until you figure out the shortcuts!
That’s a lot of parts! Now I know why you’ve evolved over time.
Thanks!
Great idea!
Great video. Setting up drip for my planters has been the #1 reason they’ve looked as amazing as they have over the past several years. It started after a neighbor said he’d water my plants when I went away for a few days and I came home to plants that were almost dead.
Good morning beautiful Garden Answer fans! 🌻
LAURA IS A BEAST! For those that think she has "people" watch her go!!!! The tape trick was genius! I am in awe as always!
Your videos gave me the courage to try drip to my pots last year. What a game changer! Thank you for inspiring us to try new things in our gardens🌸
Beautiful Morning Laura and Friends!!! So Thankful for all the different content videos to make our spaces that much greener. 🌻🐝💛 Enjoy your day!!!!

You make it look so easy. Like an Olympian athlete makes their feats look graceful and easy. Awesome to watch.
Only Garden Answer can make “plumbing” fun to watch! 💦 💧
LOL! So true!
RIGHT!!!! I'm like glued to my screen so intensely you'd think I was going to put a drip system in myself! LoL
, winner winner chicken dinner--you deserve an Emmy for this video. Even at my advanced age I could understand how it worked and how it went together and how each part was needed. Most of us would not have known about hose thread and pipe thread. Now we do, and I always use that Teflon tape whenever I have hoses connected together that still leak in spite of new gaskets. Superb show you two, you had my complete attention the entire time

18 less pots to hand water. Very instructional, thanks for sharing.

Desert gardening requires irrigation drip. I appreciate you showing all the options for emitters, drip tubing, staples, etc. Very informative and clear. Thank you!
one of the best tutorials on drip irrigation..I feel so comfortable to get started on adding irrigation.
Aaron @21:18 - you give new meaning to wind blown air! 🤣 The results...fantastic hair, Laura!
Loving the irrigation videos. I am in the process of setting up drip system with my Mum so she can continue to have a beautiful garden without needing to pull out the hose unless she really wants to. Thank you Laura and Aaron (and your team too) for all the work you do ♥️💐
I didn’t need any of this information but I watched every second anyway. 😂
Same here🤣
Me too
You are such a natural teacher, Laura! Thank you for making such a complex, variable topic look easy!
Not only are you so smart and intelectual but your also a super model! Aaron, that was a great shoot! Thanks you guys this was very informative.
OHMYWORD, hose thread to pipe thread!!!! That's where my leaking issue has been coming from, thank you SOOOOOO MUCH!!!! Wow. Thank you! -Leslie
