    Breck is the perfect balance. Has a great town, convenient to get to, riding options for everyone, hotels for every budget 💯

    YOOOOO, that outro was siiiick! It hit so hard!!!
    Personally, I like Keystone more than Breck. Breck's runs felt way shorter than Keystone's. But there are a few places in Breck that are definitely harder.

    If you're living out in the front range (greater denver area) keystone plus pass is a huge bang for your buck! Stoked for the season!

    What a sick video. I agree with everything you said. My wife is a beginner/easy blue rider only and she hates keystone.
    But point her down peak 8/9 at Breckenridge and she's having the time of her life.
    Can't wait for this season!

    We did Breck last season and loved it (for the most part). It really is the total package - great resort with a great ski town too (a legit town, not a fake base town like a lot of others). What I really like about Breck is the natural progression - granted you have to know which slopes to hit since a "green" can be anything from a mellow cruiser like off QuickSilver to near-blue action like upper parts of Lower Four-O'clock (which sometimes has bumps). Also, my understanding is the progression from green to blue is very natural too if you know which runs to start with.
    My main gripe with Breck is that, like a lot of Vail resorts, it is catastrophically expensive if you don't get one of the Epic passes in advance. For example, it was $255/day at the window during Spring Break - basically, you can get a ski/board lesson + discounted lift ticket for the same price. If I had it to do over again, I would get 4-day Epic passes for everyone instead. I did a full Epic pass early on, which came with buddy passes. Pro tip - if you buy lift tickets, they can be refunded if you don't ski or never make it off the bunny hill (we got about $2k back that way). Yeah, they looked at us funny, but we got the money back. LOL
    Anyway, we enjoyed it so much, we moved to Colorado - so this will be our first season as residents. We all have Epic Local passes and plan on hitting Breck a lot and trying out the others. I'm particularly interested in the McCoy park in Beaver Creek which is a "beginner bowl" area. I also have heard that BC is "too beginner friendly" which sounds perfect for me.

    • @JohnathanBuckhouse
      @JohnathanBuckhouse  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes go to BC and congratulations on moving to CO! You guys will be crushing all the blues and greens for sure. Just wait on heading to keystone till you guys are crushing blues!

    My favorite of the 5 epic pass places is Vail. Has pretty much everything I need! Wish the tree runs were a bit better, but bowls, diamonds, park, gondola. Beaver Creek is legit though… not as packed AND best powder of the resorts. 😏
    However… I know this is Epic Pass driven, but I LOVE Aspen! Trees, chutes, long runs, park, etc… top notch IMO.

    Totally agree with Keystone. I love Keystone but dude, their _greens_ are hard. They have probably one of the better bunny/learning areas but then the jump up to a real green at Keystone is huge. First, Schoolmarm is 3.5 miles with some rather steep parts that really should be a blue just about anywhere else (especially coming from the east) the only saving grace is that the run is pretty wide for most of the way down, so you can terrace if you have to. Also, Schoolmarm is a highway - most other runs either start or end on Schoolmarm - so there is a lot mixing abilities. My first time down took me nearly 2 hours, my second time was closer to 90 minutes. A good beginner should be able to do it in 45 minutes or less. Like you said, Keystone is an intermediate mountain - period. If you are a first-timer, you probably are going to have more fun on the tubing hill (which is legit). I'm going to lap Breck until I can safely enjoy Keystone again - although their expansion this year looks pretty nice.

    • @josiahsimmons9866
      @josiahsimmons9866 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Some advice: I'd actually take someone down Spring dipper before Schoolmarm. Because SM gets so busy, beginners don't have as much space to spread out their turns. But Spring Dipper is nearly just as mellow and wide, with like 20% of the people. Honestly, the main point is just to avoid Schoolmarm.

    • @JasonTaylor-po5xc
      @JasonTaylor-po5xc ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@josiahsimmons9866 Spring Dipper didn't even register as an option since it is blue on the map and heck, if I'm struggling with SM, I wouldn't have much of a chance on a Keystone blue. But, it sounds like a great goal - get proficient enough to handle Spring Dipper. Thanks for the recommendation.

    • @josiahsimmons9866

      @@JasonTaylor-po5xc Spring dipper used to be classified as a green till halfway down it. There's only one turn I would consider to be blue, and it's plenty wide for a beginner to take lots of turns on. My mother is a VERY beginner skiier and she was able to do it. I 100% stand by saying that Spring Dipper is easier than Schoolmarm and was really classified as blue for the convenience of Ski Patrol.

    • @JasonTaylor-po5xc
      @JasonTaylor-po5xc ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@josiahsimmons9866 Thanks, I may give it a go next time I'm at Keystone. My sister can do blues at Keystone so I'll do it with her next time. I'm pretty comfortable with the greens off QuickSilver at Breck peak 9 and some of the greens off Rips on peak 8. The higher part of Lower 4 O'Clock is hard for me once I get past that, I'm good the rest of the way back to the parking lot. I'm hoping to get in another lesson at the start of the season to get me ready. Thanks for the advice.
