I’m 51 and I have a superimposed extrusion. What’s that??? After 7 weeks I able to walk again, but I’m still in sone pain. My PT says that I will probably always have discomfort.

When treating pain caused by annular tears with ESI fails, is there any chance the pain could be helped with radio frequency neurotomy?

    • @BloorPainSpecialists

Hello Dan. Excellent question. RF neurotomy can certainly help. Depending on where in the world you live, a procedure called a biacuplasty, or an artificial disc replacement surgery may also be options. Over time, the annular tear may harden/calcify as well.
      Hope that helps.

Hi Dan. Thanks for the interest. Of course there is a chance. A decent chance too. Unfortunately, we can't discuss details of your personal care on a public forum like TH-cam. If you live in Ontario, have your doctor send a referral to us and we would be happy to chat in person. www.BloorPain.com/refer-a-patient/

L4-5. there is a small left foraminal disc protrusion superimposed upon a diffuse disc annular bulge with mild facet arthropathy and endplate spurring. Mild left foraminal narrowing results. The central canal and right neural foramen appear patent.
That’s my MRI I have my big toe and big toe areas numb sometimes does it need surgery?

Hi Tim. We feel for you. That's why we do what we do to try to get people in control of their pain rather than their pain controlling their life.
