    I’ve yet to need more range on my Rover, but I really enjoyed watching you walk us through the process of adding the second battery… and the parts list will come in handy when I do decide to tackle this project. Tks for posting!

    Cool mods. Good advice running the batteries totally separately. Much safer. And I totally love what looks like a DIY Cigar Box Guitar.

    Stan - Thank you for the video. I bought my Rad Rover Rhino about 15 months ago and the range with the battery that came with the bike is about 25 miles. So I have been searching the internet for an answer and how to go about it. Your video, therefore, is very useful. Sincere good wishes and a happy New Year.

    You are the man! That slide-off battery cradle is genius! I was going to sell my current 36v 13ah battery, once my 52v 20ah arrives. Thanks to you, i can use my 36 first, then the 52. May still sell it, as I'd prefer a 48v, as a secondary

    I awlmost bought a 50 amp battery, I was worried if it would destroy my motor. I am only 48 volt batters, I have three batteries right now another is on it's way so I have four. My batteries are on the rear. I have three 11.1 volt LiPo batteries and they work everything for abought 16 hours total runing. I personaly enjoy riding up hills and not worried, yes loss power more. I have been working hard on my ebike. I love the video from the rear, better than a miorr. Thanks!

    Thanks for the fascinating video! I went ahead and bought those XT90 connectors for use on the dual electrical systems in my car, as they will make amp and battery connections much easier. Smart move keeping the batteries separate, and having the connector instead of a switch would remind me to power down before swapping. I think I would probably go with the original battery in the stock location, and opt for a flat battery under the rear rack, but your setup has more total power. Thanks again for the video!

    This may have been asked, but what about mounting the aftermarket battery to the rack instead of going to the trouble of tearing out the Rad battery and retrofitting the stock module? I'm also curious about whether an aftermarket battery like the one shown could function as a sort of backup power bank for the Rad battery if fitted with a compatible charging cable.

    Great video, thanks for sharing. We are hoping to use the same battery for two bikes by we want to store one at my MILs house so my wife can ride with her mother who's battling cancer. I was wondering if you knew of what connector I'd need if I wanted to be able to plug the rad battery into a different bike? This would allow us to save money by not buying a 2nd battery. Hey Stan, enjoy your videos, am subbed, anyway, question: do you have any difficulty getting on the bike with the battery on the back rack? Last year, that was an issue with me, I could barely get my leg over the back rack to mount the bike. Have a more compact battery on order that I will be doing this modification with. Wondering how difficult to get on the bike.
    Also, how would it work to simply wire both batteries to a transfer switch? When one battery goes down, flip the switch and have the 2nd battery kick in. Just a thought

    Stan, Thanks for this video. I have been wanting to extend the range of the Rover. I have been climbing ridges near where I live, 3,000 - 4,000' elevation accents. The views are amazing. The Rover is good for about 35 miles with this type of riding in the present configuration. I have a 68 mile trip I want to take across the Blue Mountain range. Your set up is just the ticket! This will give me enough range to make the trip. Thank you for posting this video. Question: Have you found an "A-B" switch so you can switch from one battery to the other without unplugging and plugging each time a battery runs out? Any issues with running a 48v battery versus a 52v battery with Rad's controller?

    • @stanthereservoirrat5934
      @stanthereservoirrat5934  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I have not looked for a switch that would work. it would have to be a 30 amp switch. it would have to be located down by the connector. you can't run long wires up to your handle bars, its to far. keep the wires short. I feel a 52 volt batt would stress the electronics more than the 48 volt.

      @@stanthereservoirrat5934 Your excellent no-nonsense video has prompted me to buy a triangle for my my 2020 RadRhino (I'm in Europe). I just carry a extra battery on my bike and pull over and switch my battery. All that pulling and cutting wires is like playing Russian roulette with a $1500 investment. It's also dangerous, especially if your wiring is faulty and catches fire in the middle of a ride. These DYI videos are very informative but one wrong thing that goes overlooked and it's a ambulance ride to the ER ! Maybe others have the "smarts" for DYI's but I'll leave the modifications to the professionals
