In US news and current events today, a Ft. Lauderdale, Florida police officer is under investigation for shoving a kneeling protester. The officer was confronted by his Black colleague for his actions, an all too rare occurrence given the statistics surrounding police brutality and police violence.
In light of the Black Lives Matter protests and George Floyd protests surrounding the death of George Floyd, we can't ignore the blue wall of silence that prevents good cops from acting on their out of control compatriots. As the BLM Protests continue to grow around the world, and more voices proclaim I can't breathe, real change needs to come to police culture from the inside.

Rubies and Jaspers Jasper I was thinking about this recently as I have a friend who is Eritrean. I wholeheartedly believe this is still a form of white privilege. People from Guyana and Eritrea only have television to go on thinking of us, and they're still Christian places that are extremely Orthodox and pray to a blue eyed white Jesus. We glorify and glamorize reality TV full of ratchetness and allow ourselves to be be portrayed as thugs and drug dealers. A Polish man comes from Poland for the first time and he's literally never interacted with an actual black person before in his life, all he has are these preconceived images of us from popular rappers and black public figures. We don't control our images and it hurts us and our connection to our brothers and sisters overseas. Because they believe we're thugs and we believe they're impoverished with swollen stomachs because of all the missionary commercials. Africa is developed and is even using solar in some areas. We must dismantle colonialism/nationalism and the seeds of hate it planted before anything changes. The African vs African American violence is huge in Columbus.
