He's so right about what he talked about in the beginning. We are too scared to play games wrong nowadays, not getting the perfect build, not getting the right ending etc. It diminishes the experience. I just realised this recently, I need to start playing games blind again to have the best experience. I haven't done that in so long and it's sad.
I know people who avoid even updates, social media ruins your personal play experience, IMHO.

This is actually an amazing idea. I hope he revisits it with actual focus when it comes out, could have potential to be a great series. I can see why he zoned out though, every turn just being "drop the claw wherever, see what happens" no matter what is going on probably makes it easy to tune out the game when bantering with chat. Just gotta lock in sliiiightly more and this could be gold.

His point on gamers being afraid of playing wrong is SO true among those that are deep into the gaming zeitgeist. I had to force myself a few years back to change the way I looked at games and in turn learned to love them once again (I was starting to think I hated gaming because of it). Just pick up a game and go. If you don't beat it, doesn't matter. If you suck, doesn't matter. You can pick up and put down games at your whim. Play for fun and meet the game where it is. If it presents a choice, make the choice yourself based on your time with it (and yes I'm looking at you talent trees). Just enjoy.

if anything is truly unhinged in all the years I've watched NL it's his food takes. He is just a real oddity. And also speaks like an authority on it. Very comedic.
As someone who has never won anything from a claw machine I find this game to be a dream.
NL has been old man yelling at cloud for a long time, but this one was his piece de resistance.

Isnt the "puzzle of the claw machine" that they're rigged to have no grip strength until the machine has taken whatever amount of money the operator requires before a win is allowed?
yes.
Not all of them. Some the claw is just always set to be weak so you slowly maneuver the item over multiple plays. Some are odd in shape and are designed to be hard to catch the item. Others, surprisingly, aren't rigged but the prizes are subpar.
Him grabbing bombs even though the fight would be over before they explode made me mald.
this reminds me very slightly of Luck Be A Landlord, with the gambling being what builds the deck.
great potential in the game and great points in the banter.

This game is so freaking good; just played for like 3 hours straight. I think NL is responsible for 1/3 of my game library at this point... 😅

Ya NGL this seems like a game someone made because they saw that "StS mixed with ____" roguelikes were selling well, not because they had any real passion. It feels really uninspired.

I understand the impulse of making a game that is like Balatro but instead of poker it's (in this case) claw machines, but even moreso than that ill conceived roulette game this very obviously has no legs on it at all.
My 13 hours in the Demo of this game begs to differ. It might not go quite as hard as Balatro, but it is a top-tier game in my opinion.

people were comparing every game that's X but it's a rougelike to peglin when it came out, or to any other good rougelike with that template and now balatro takes the mantle
just because balatro put almost everything in its demos doesn't mean other games have to do the same shit man
