I walked down the aisle to a pianist playing Dawn, the opening song from Pride and Prejudice (2005) and then my husband picked the song we exited to, which was “You Make My Dreams Come True” by Hall & Oates so very different vibes lol - but we were both happy!

The ceremony song choices are so difficult! We forgot we would need an exit song to walk out to after the ceremony and our wedding planner reminded us two weeks beforehand 😂 I walked down the aisle to a piano cover of Helena by My Chemical Romance

Coming from a venue coordinator who’s worked over 500 weddings, I once had a bride walk down the aisle to Invisible String, and there were CHILLS. Literally my favorite moment to date 🥹 plus, I don’t think many people realized they were listening to Taylor Swift haha

My husband and I got married in Colorado just the two of us. I had way too much anxiety about being the center of attention for the day and all the planning. It's been almost three years and I have loved every wedding I've been to since then and still have no regrets! Small weddings are just as lovely as big weddings 😊

  • @neekachu7761

Small intimate weddings with close family and friends is definitely the way to go! I felt so overwhelmed with all the choices too so we said screw it to all the choices and expenses and had a really small intimate one in the mountains of Maine (where I grew up) and it was the best choice we ever made. As a huge book nerd and Disney fan, I walked down the aisle to an instrumental/piano version of "Tale as Old As Time" and let my husband decide what we exited to and he chose "Perfect" by Ed Sheeran- the song that kind of became our song throughout our relationship because it was released just as we started talking and ironically was the song playing on the radio on the drive to our first date - at Barnes & Noble (I knew he was the winner then).

Yes to the dress situation. Advice to future newlyweds: don't let the pressure of not ordering soon enough cause you to buy a dress you don't really want. It sucks ending up with a dress you regret. I ended up buying a 2nd (much cheaper dress) that I was so much happier with. But I am still stuck with the 1st dress. Oops😅

For Eras, if 1989 is your vibe, go with that. Actually the dresses you wear, I can see you going with a dress like the one Taylor wears in “Style”, when she’s sitting on the ground with the necklace. I am going to one of her Pittsburgh stops in June, have no idea what I’m going to wear because I LOVE all her albums, no one vibe sings out to me louder than any others . I’m just happy to be able to go, ya know? I saw her 1989 tour and it was amaze-a-balls! I hope you have fun, you deserve it! And congrats on wedding in Italy. That’s AWESOME!

Ah, no huge joint expectations, making the marriage an easier dream... Tuscany is beautiful, and I am sure you will love it, and I'm so sorry for the nightmares with your original venue.
I did not come into my wife's and my Wedding with huge expectations for the event, and was actually surprised by some of the few things I had stronger opinions about (wearing White Tie and Tails, for instance, making it a late afternoon/evening wedding).
My wife, OTOH, had MANY ideas about what needed to happen. She was the planner, and thankfully she was on top of so many things. Thankfully, we had a friend who was an organist, who helped immensely with music choices. Her mother made her wedding gown, and a seamstress nearer to some of the out of state bridal party made several of the bridesmaids gowns.
The friends and family who joined us made it an incredible day for us.

Even with a small wedding, you can still have a party with a larger group of friends and family. You could even just have a "low-stakes" pot luck at your house (low stakes cause you don't have to find a venue or go to a huge effort and cost beyond cleaning and being ready for guests). We ended up having an "island wedding" with two witnesses, cause our local court house is on an island. (The two witnesses were my mom and my mother in law, because they were the two people who really wanted to see us get married. So we solved that problem by saying we needed them as witnesses for our paperwork and they were super happy.) Cause my husband and I both feel like you do about being the center of attention and a wedding ceremony of any kind made both of us very uncomfortable. It's nice that you're able to do a wedding in Italy. I hope you're able to get a great photographer, cause that's an investment that's worth it if you're going to have a beautiful venue and a beautiful dress and all that nice stuff. :-) Good luck!

Homeownership! I'm also a 1st time homeowner, with my husband. We live abroad (from the US, living in Peru), and we very recently had our entire kitchen remodeled. The only reason we could afford it is because we live abroad, but it was still the largest chunk of cash I've EVER spent on something (except house downpayment). There was an error made by the cabinet maker or the design team's measurements, and it was so stressful (like angry crying in the bathroom stressful). But it all worked out, with some additional time, but the STRESS is real!
But, definitely a dad vibe because everything is so satisfying!

Your timing is perfect. I'm getting married mid June and just spent time figuring out what songs to walk down the aisle. Still researching but may have narrowed it down to these 3:
Your song by Elton John (instrumental) 3:22

Marry me by train (instrumental) -piano version
    Best of luck with everything!

I got married in February this year so I feel you on the wedding planning stress!! I had my husband stand at the altar before the ceremony started so he didn’t walk to any music and then I had the processional walk to an instrumental version of Your Song by Elton John and my dad and I walked to an instrumental version of Lover (I found both songs on TH-cam and was able to just share the video link with my DJ). I am so excited for you and Clay! I love the pivot you made for your wedding, and I am so sorry about your first venue. The wedding industry is a racket. We got married November 2021. We love to dance so we knew the one thing we wanted was a major dance party with friends. We also live in a state where you can perform a self-uniting ceremony, so we got to marry ourselves which is the best thing ever.
My partner wanted a song to walk down the aisle to, and he walked down to Yo Pumpkin Head by the Seatbelts from the Cowboy Bebop movie. I walked down to the Rohan theme (that string music!). We walked back up the aisle to Tank! by the Seatbelts (Cowboy Bebop main theme). These were the only like fan media things we had in our wedding; they just happen to be great music.
I actually got my dress from a boutique of sample wedding dresses. So they sell the samples from other boutiques at a huge discount, which was amazing, and I was so lucky to find something that I loved in my size. I can't wait to see your dress! I totally agree that I could have worn so many different styles; they evoke different vibes.

I literally didn't choose my entrance song until like a week before, so that's totally normal! I ultimately went with Vitamin String Quartet's rendition of The Princess Bride theme, and our first dance was to Near You Always by Jewel.
I'm also a former bridal stylist, and the reason for the lead time at most small boutiques is because wedding dresses are made to order and are made by hand in most cases! Lace, tulle, and traditional wedding dress materials like that are very delicate, so they must be handled with care. 😊

But then my husband walked down the aisle to I And Love And You by the Avett Brothers. Then we recessed (because there are MORE songs to pick) to This Will Be (An Everlasting Love) by Natalie Cole.

So exciting that you're getting married in ITALY!! I know that this trip will be super intimate and everything, but I do hope you'll have some Italy footage for us :) not necessarily the wedding (though I always love seeing the dresses) but just the rest of the things, like the scenery and the food, etc. Of course it'll make sense and absolutely not be a big deal if you take this time off for yourself and you and Clay ♥

What Dreams Are Made Of (yes, from The Lizzie McGuire Movie) but covered by Brent Morgan to walk down the aisle!

We’re doing a small wedding vibe too! AirBnB for just our immediate family at a pretty spot in the Rockies, local officiant, dress I can overdye later because it’s such nice fabric and so pretty!
For your song, maybe look for an orchestral TSwift cover! Bridgerton, anyone??

Our aisle song choice was Storybook Love from The Princess Bride! I think it was a string cover our DJ found for us.

I went to Florence which is in Tuscany and it's amazing! So pretty and if you go there's so much history involved ☺️ All the best for the big day! 🎉

🎵 I picked a completely unique song for my walk down the aisle in the song “Turning Page” by Sleeping at Last, and no regrets!
So so happy that you got your deposit refunded by AE, and that there was an even better venue waiting for you guys!
Remember to schedule time for just the two of you to soak it all in, that stuff is the best. I am also a huge fan of first looks for that reason.

I had to cancel my wedding in the early days of COVID, but we were considering Old Pine by Ben Howard for one of our ceremony songs!

My husband and I did a small wedding as well, it was a bit controversial for our relatives but we were focused less on the number of guests and more on those who knew us well. When it comes down to it, my husband and I realized it was a very small list. Also, my wedding walk song for the ceremony was Marry Me by Train. (I personally love Train but apparently, it was a good choice because I had several guests after comment on it).

I relate so much to you, Regan😂 everything you described about how you and your fiancé feel about wedding planning is literally me and my fiancé- we’re getting married in September! Also, I was a scene kid too but also love Taylor Swift and have loved her since day 1 tbh. I’m so jealous you get to see her in person I hope you have a blast. I look forward to hearing your updates about your wedding😊💕

Wedding aisle songs are tricky. I knew a couple that walked down the aisle to Glasgow Love Theme from Love Actually. Absolutely gorgeous. The Ice Dance song from Edward Scissorhands is lovely too.

    Hi Regan,
Hope i can help you with your wedding down the isle song. I'm a wedding planner from beautiful Cape Town South Africa.
These days couples really do make their own on songs walking down the isle is not like the past where you just pick a song you think it would fit because it sounds wedding like.
We had couples walking down the isle to:
Piano guys - Game of Thrones
Taylor Davis Violin - The Lord of The Rings Song
    Instramental Star Wars Song
    Piano Guys - Jurrasic Park
Be CREATIVE pick a song what fits your personality.
    Hope this helps!!

That is so awesome about your upcoming wedding. I hope you have a beautiful and special day!
Also, thank heavens your deposit wasn't all lost- yikes.
My husband and I had a very easy time deciding on our song. Try to pick one from a special moment together. Ours was from dancing around in the living room while he sang it to me (but changed some of the words to fit us). Good luck dear!❤
