    🌞🌻ABOUT THE CHANNEL🌻🌞
    Bored of the usual vanilla, ‘Pollyanna-esque’ allotment/gardening vlog formats that saturate TH-cam, we decided to start our own, unique channel in 2023. Follow the adventures of our family as we navigate life on two allotment plots based in Devon in the UK. The Allotment Family Diary offers a light-hearted, realistic and informative look at the daily running of two large allotment plots. Chocked with dry-wit and lovingly edited, we film hours of footage each month to bring you weekly episodes that document life at our allotment plots, and sometimes outside of them.
    🌷🌻ABOUT THE ALLOTMENT FAMILY🌻🌷
    Tilly and Nick have maintained their plot for almost ten years now, and Tom (their son), Han (Tom's wife), and Flo (Tom and Han's daughter) acquired theirs in May 2023, with a plot extension in Feb 2024. Look forward to seeing Alfie (an elderly lurcher) and Tor (a young Romanian rescue dog) joining us in our diaries, as well as our 6 chickens (new additions to the Allotment Family), and various stray cats and other wildlife that call the allotment their home.

    HappyBirthdayHannah! Wow! Plot expanding every week! Love the flag! Yes... unfortunately we struggle with slugs and land snails here as well. Keeps us humble for sure. Lovely eggs from the hens! Blessings on your family and your growing season Kiddos! 🌻🐛Carolyn in Ohio 🌿💚💕

      Tysm! Fantastic idea about the barrel. Hope you get a bumper harvest! We resorted to slug pellets alongside the beer trap today. Luckily got lots more seedling on the way so hopefully we can replace the losses 😊

    Happy painting birthday 🎊 🎉. Last week flip flop 🩴 and shorts 😢 this week cold and wet 🤷‍♀️. Great job on the rescue 👍 I think I live in a parallel universe 😅 I had a bird fly in my shed yesterday, they are after the bedding covering the strawberry pots. Just have to get some slug pots out too they decimated my tomato plants. A fabulous update as always have a super week ahead, Ali 🌧️🇨🇦

      I would live in shorts and go barefoot wherever possible - I do most days in summer, but tender on the feet what with the new plot not being finished haha. Saw you had slug attacks too, hopefully they'll reside a bit soon as the weather warms up, but always be on guard! Thanks for watching, Ali. Hope you have a great week too! (Tommy)

    Yeast in warm water works like beer. Pays to put a cover over container in case of rain

    I enjoyed the video👍 you can use tomorite tomato feed on strawberries it is high in potassium and helps any flowering and fruiting crops and is a liquid feed 👍 Slugs are little bast*#

    Maybe you can have a cooking segment once you harvest some of your garden. How would you cook golden beets?

    • @AllotmentFamilyDiary
      @AllotmentFamilyDiary  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      We sure will! Han will be cooking at the plot with our produce very soon - keep an eye out for that! The beets are great roasted, fried or even eaten raw in a salad. They have a less earthy taste than regular, purple beets 😊

    The netting you had on a roll - would you mind sharing where you got it from or what the name of it is? 😊

    • @AllotmentFamilyDiary
      @AllotmentFamilyDiary  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      The white stuff is from Amazon - TreeGarden Insect Mesh Netting 10ft x 32ft (3m x 10m), Wohohoho (manufacturer - I know, what a name!). Hope this helps 😊 If you mean the green netting, I’m not sure where it was from as it was some old stuff Tilly had laying around.

    I love seeing your videos and all that you do with the bamboo canes. Do you get the longer ones from Amazon? I can never find them locally

    • @AllotmentFamilyDiary
      @AllotmentFamilyDiary  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Tysm for watching! Glad you are enjoying our content. If we don't have any old ones left in our supply, we usually get 2400mm canes from our trading shed (a shop for allotment holders located on our site). They are 50p each. I believe most garden centres sell them for slightly more than what we pay, although I've never bought any from Amazon. I'm sure they're great though! (Tommy)

    Hi 50 years ago I noticed that the foot stomachs dont live in the nettle and bramble patch so now i use chopped up nettles and brambles as a mulch also leave them wild around my 5x5 brassica tunnel happy gardening as always Richardx

    • @AllotmentFamilyDiary
      @AllotmentFamilyDiary  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Love the term 'foot stomachs' haha. That's really interesting about the nettles and brambles. Tilly has tried dried brambles but perhaps we need to lay down more. Will certainly look into this as our neighbour has an abundance of them. Thanks for watching, and also for the tip!
