Part 2 of my 1HD-FTE project is to get into the inlet manifold and check the condition of the swirl flaps and EGR. I was disgusted by the carbon build up.
Great video! That is normal filth inside 1hd-fte, even with egr delete. I have used catch can for 3 years and it helps A LOT! And of course egr delete. Those flaps looks awful.😂 looking forward your next video.
@@landcruiserscotland well I use small one with 300ml reservoir. Only empty it once or twice a year. It is with a breather hole on top so it wont build up back pressure to the engine. Works great!
top of the head looks really clean, so that's a good sign. You can clean out those valve inlets if you want -- just find a valve cleaner spray, manually crank the motor slowly by hand and close each valve before you clean it. On the closed valve, spray it with cleaner, scrape or use a brush attachment on a drill, vacuum out, repeat. Doesn't get them perfectly clean but sure does make a difference. Tedious work though!
Catch can Mann and Hummel Provent catch can .with egr delete works wonders . I have never disconnected the swirl flaps . Cleaning with oven cleaner does a great job . Either close the valves and walnut blast OR tooth brush and carburettor cleaner spray
Mann & Hummel Provent catch can made in GERMANY with 3 distributors in the UK These seem to work well and trap alot of oil mist thru a soft material . Other mesh based filters catch only about 20% of volume . Remember catch cans are factory fitted on some commercial vehicles . Generally disposable large cartridges .
No one can make me understand that EGR works in reality. In the laboratory / new engine - yes. OK. But as seen in this video. How much has that engine polluted unnecessarily and cost extra in fuel. Soooooo

I know the cause of that. You can minimize it by using seafoam throttle body cleaner
What car have you used seafoam on?
