I found this interview because of Emmerson, but the host Heydarian is also insightful and asked thought-provoking questions. Turns out he’s a professor and regional expert himself. Very pleased to listen to both discuss the region and describe the context. Thank you for making this available.
Would be cool if you can also interview Niall Ferguson since, iirc, he was the first academic to use and normalize Cold War II as a term to describe the current Sino-US rivalry.
Good interview or conversation rather. However i was hoping that somehow you explore how India fits in the ASEAN equation, presently or a decade from now. Perhaps that could be a topic on its own.
What an underrated podcast. Don is such an academic, Richard is one of the wildest thinker-influencer in SOutheast Asia.

Very agree. ASEAN has been used by the red dragon to divide the association.
