The trailer is completely different to the actual film, people who say it looks terrible obviously haven't seen the film, the film is a masterpiece
I don't know. I liked the trailer, it's what made me watch the movie and I liked the movie. People who didn't like it are probably more inclined to watch soap opera or teletabies in which case I prefer them to not watch the movie and leave even more biased false reviews

I can truly say that Donnie Darko is the best movie I've ever seen.
It is an amazing, stunning and intense thriller, that actually leaves you bewildered.
But it is also a sad and drammatic movie that leaves you something.
I think you have to watch it at least a couple of times, to actually understand the meaning of it, and I think this is the reason why it is so fascinating.
It tricks your mind, it blows you mind, it is a whole plot twist, it is wonderful. Some characters and some scenes may look disturbing and scary, but this helps the movie and it's probably what makes it so great.
I don't think there are any other words to describe it, you must watch it!

Donnie Darko aired 20 years ago , this exact day ! Happy bday to one of the bestest masterpieces I have seen !
This movie is great. It's about individual and collective struggle, family relationships, mental health, being outsider and misunderstood, adolescence, blinded people with bad faith, and ultimately a great sacrifice. Really good though provoking story which itself is a somewhat a mystery and loosely draws from time travel idea. And all of it in historically placed in American late 80's with phenomenal soundtrack. What more could we ask?
Fr I can’t stress the original soundtrack made for this movie they all are so melancholy and somber in tone sometimes sinister even. Then you have tears for fears echo and the bunnymen like Jesus this movie hits all facets with me

First of all, she made a move towards him when she sat by Donnie in the classroom. Even though Drew Barrymore’s character set it up, it was clear that she picked up on Gretchen’s mannerisms. Also, he was literally willing to kill himself to avoid her death. And it wasn’t poorly written. If it was, it wouldn’t be universally loved.

This movie was iconic way back then, it warmed sci-fi heart as a kid, the suspense mystery and intrigue were wonderfully delivered; not too creepy and not too corny.
I loathe horror films, though the rabbit thing is creepy; there were no significantly painful moral implications that normally break my heart in horror films.

Ngl this movie kinda freaked me out big time when I saw it years ago. I remember telling a high school friend about my recurring dreams, sleep paralysis, and paranormal experiences about a man in a black trenchcoat and fedora that took place over a couple of years.

I watched it in the cinema by chance. I arrived late and the movie I wanted to see had already started, so I watched Donnie Darko instead thinking it was going to be rubbish. It is one of my favourite movies ever since.

I just found out about this movie today because of an art show at my school. Someone made a big painting with the bunny guy to one side and I'm guessing the Donnie to the other. It had a bunch of quotes from the movie on it. I had no idea where it came from. Luckily many people knew the movie.
I didn't know what I was putting on to watch originally, now I'm obsessed with my favorite mind twisting movie ever! even my cats name is darko!
This movie was so good. I looked for information about the director to figure out where the inspiration came from, but found very little. It is just a totally weird, surrealist picture of suburban America. Really unique and moving.
