Stumps are a mother to remove sometimes. Ones that big if dead enough I have made cuts down through the stump soaked with gal of kerosene and built a fire around it and let it burn for a few days.

You know the old joke? I love work - I could sit and watch it all day! Well you two have a wonderful work ethic and make it possible for the rest of us to sit and watch. Thank you!
One day, when you're not quite so busy, a video about your chickens would be fun. How many you have, what kinds, which will be eaten, how many eggs do you get, what do you feed them, do you really need that rooster,
    etc., etc. ???

Try drilling three holes in the top of that old stump, fill all three with diesel . light it up and slowly burn it out.

Sawzall works great on roots. Blades are cheaper than chains and bars.

One small bonus working to get that stump cleared, you've also built a fire protection area.
Heat coming this week, make plans to keep yourselves and the animals cooled down.
    Garden looks good. 👍

Did you notice the size of the trees in the area a fire break would need to be 2 kilometers wide, have you not seen trees exploding in front of the fire front just from radiant heat.

The only way to get rid of the stump is to get a bigger machine or burn it out. Maybe wait for some cooler weather before you burn it out though.

For your stump try Gordon’s stump remover. Cut the stump low to the ground. Drill lots of holes in the face of the grain. Sprinkle Gordon’s stump remover and in 6 weeks it’s easy to remove or burn what’s left.

I had 2 100 year old swamp maples that I paid for removal from my back yard to open it up to sunlight. I cut the stumps to ground level. I used my Sawzall and shovel to expose and cut roots. I used my circular saw with carbide tipped blades to hollow out the center as much as possible. Then I used wedges and sledge hammer close to the outside edges to break the outer edges, moving inward. It was a long slow process. I still wasn't happy with the result and I rented a big portable stump grinder. I ground down about 4 feet into the ground. It took 8 hours of grinding but I got both stumps removed. That grinding job was one of the hardest days I ever worked. Very physical. Good luck!

What we do when we are trying remove a stump or post that just does not want to leave it current place Is we put a chain around the stump. Drape the chain across a tire and attach to the tractor. The tire help s to pull the stump out of the ground.

Everything looks great , hard work firewood , just a suggestion when I chopped wood ( before I got a log splitter ) I would put the wood in the centre of 2 tyres sitting on a low stump for a solid base , the splits would not fly everywhere , less bending down and you have more control , just a suggestion worked great for me ! Great video thanks !

You are exactly right on the honda.... saw video one time of a weight of chop Big Blocks like that without having them fall over you put five or six in a group and a round group and then put a light chain around them so they can't fall over then you can quarter them half them and quarter them all around and then just release the chain and they're all cut up without having to stop and pick them up so you can chop them again

Nice to see some of your other work you do on a daily basis. I know what it is like. In real life, the work never, ever ends. Real homesteading is a lot of work. People don’t realize it until they do it. You mentioned it’s +34C! Is it relatively dry? Does the temperature drop at night? Here in Kochi, Shikoku, Japan, it’s +36C in the shade. The humidity is very, very high. People die from heat stroke every summer here. Elderly and kids are the most susceptible. The heat is downright dangerous. The temperature only drops down to +32C at night. I miss the cool air in Canada. Chopping all that wood is hard work. But, good exercise.

    well,,,, you're stumped.
you were on the right track, blast away the dirt etc. and take the saw to it.
i have removed a bunch of stumps and what i have found that works the best is a pressure washer, like what you might use on, say, the siding of a house. use a 0 degree nozzle so you get a pin point stream of water.
for giggles, i call it a water laser.
anyway, that high pressure stream cuts through the dirt and stuff easy, and, you'll use WAY less water than that big hose you had.
i have also found most of the time i have to cut each root twice. once out away from the tree, next up against the trunk itself. seems like there is always another root under there that you can't get to till the first one is out of the way.
at any rate, as big as that sucker is, unless you get a MASSIVE excavator, you'll be at it a while.
i wish i was there to help you.
keep on keepin' on my friends.
