Why are you even working on a new project? Just checked out what other games did you make and the reviews of Fire & Maneuver state that you abandoned the game with bugs still unfixed. I wont even consider buying your new game if you cant even show you can release a good product or work to fix your product.
This looks amazing, this is such an underused era in grand strategy. The 7 years war was arguably the first global war and it’s criminally unknown to so many people.
Plenty of room for expansion as well- if our game does well, we could look into adding the other theaters like Iberia, America, India, etc. For now though, we're keeping our focus very tight on just central Europe!
@@armchairhistoryinteractive2046 the Indian wars in America would make a great setting, although I'm not sure how well it would fit the current mechanics sadly. There were a lot of interesting tactics and battles I think a lot of history buffs would appreciate, and it could really show just how formidable many of the tribes were
@@armchairhistoryinteractive2046 I would like to suggest (assuming this goes well) a game set during French Revolutionary wars, (1790s stuff), as I am a big fan of that era

I'm interested in seeing the campaign, I love real time strategy so I'm excited to see what you made. Looks great, nice to see the seven years war getting attention!
Wow, this looks amazing. Especially excited about the ability to customize each regiments flag, uniform, and weapons. It would also be really cool if you added the regiment mascots like you showed in that picture
This looks amazing and has some cool features I always wished Total War had like customizing regimental flags and weaponry. Take your time to polish and perfect the systems because this looks like it has alot of potential.
This game looks amazing, I've wanted to be able to play something like this forever! A suggestion I do have is to maybe add some smoke fx to the volleys to feel a bit more immersive, can't wait for this game!
Great job picking yourselves up and getting started over again. A lot of this looks like it may make some quality of life improvements to what some of us are accustomed to in the gunpowder era Total War installments, so I'll be interested to see how it develops!
Thanks! Yeah we want to spend a lot of time on just modernizing the controls/game feel and mechanics that you'd find in a lot of the early gunpowder Total War games.
HEY! Some suggestions: for your previous ideas of being able to have a retinue of select units, customizing their appearance and colors (I may be wrong and have forgot) however I think the ability to lead a custom faction of possible bandits (in the future of course, considering this is the 7 years war.) I also recommend a lot more diversity in corpses, and to keep corpses on the battlefield, which should also deduce some newer recruits’ morale. I would like to be able to hear the drums blaring as well, much like total war empire/napoleon. Officer customization and also commander appearance customization would be cool. Regardless, this WIP looks great!
I am amazingly impressed by what I see here. I have not been this giddy with anticipation for a game release in a while. That said, please take your time with this.
I hope you guys do other conflicts, like the american civil war, revolution war. I just stumbled upon this and it is a nice change to the total war series.
This is looking very promising! I already love the flags and uniforms of the time and having a game newer than Empire Total War doing this period is very exiting. The officers becoming better and having special traits is a cool feature. Hope to see some artillery action soon 🔥
CANT WAIT!!!1!1!1!!, i honestly think that the addition of flags was really good, F&M felt kinda empty without drummers or musicians, im really looking foward to this game!
WOWOWOW! If I had to develop a dream game, this would be it, looks great man! One thing I’ll recommend, if I may, is to have a waypoint system that allows the player to pause and map out both paths and actions your units could take. That would enable players to command and control their armies more effectively and avoid having to race the cursor around the map to micromanage every regiment/division at a time.
This game looks beautiful, I really hope this going to be great. Keep it up, and hopefully you guys can do it without learning as many mistakes as last time. I also hope it'll sell well.
This is pretty awesome, and I'm glad to see the progress you're making, but the battles would would be so much more authentic if there were big clouds of smoke from each musket/cannon.
I like the RTS direction the game is heading in. Are the more simplistic sprites here to stay? I really enjoyed the more detailed soldiers from F&M although I understand their implementation in 3D may be rather difficult.
So we opted for more simplistic models because we found that players spend most of their time in battles zoomed out, and that the extra detail ends up not really being utilized. The other thing too is that we wanted the player's uniform customization to be super apparent, so we want with minimalist models that had modular uniform UVs.
I heavily support the option to select the firing drill of our units. Something that really bothered me in Napoleon Total War or Empire is that we couldnt choose it and that as soon as a new firing drill was researched ALL your line infantry would fire like so.
Glad the hexes are gone. Need to work on battle lines though. Battalions are the building block but players have to feel larger formations make sense - in this period, a double line of brigades was standard. Battalions should have some incentive or mechanism to hold their place in the line because that was the job of higher officers - major generals, lieutenant generals, full generals and field marshals - to ensure this happened. For example a strong morale benefit for having battalions to either side and behind, so that battalions seek a higher level formation for their own safety and combat effectiveness.
This looks great! I love the attention to detail combatwise and how it's reflected visually. I wonder if it would be possible to have the morale bar turn red when it's less than half as a quick visual cue. Just my two cents.
From my experience I think you should focus on marketing. Personally, I loved fire and maneuver and it has to be one of my favorite games. But I did not hear about the game until the very end of development, even though it was mentioned in the Armchair Historian’s TH-cam channel, I did not pay attention to the game nor thought much of it. I was introduced to the game by a friend. Even then I struggled with the game as I had never played anything like it. I only really started playing after watching a video from TH-cam which explained all the game mechanics. For this upcoming game, you should really focus on marketing, getting your channel members to grasp the game idea instead of skipping that portion of the video, and ensuring that people can easily learn the game mechanics. Something really important is that you should team up with content creators to play the game and spread the message to different audiences. Why did fire and maneuver not succeed you ask? Well there are many reasons, but I answer with: marketing Bonus: Whatever you do, make sure Jacob Gullion keeps producing his bangers
Hey good points! I do honestly think that with Fire & Maneuver, the game ended up being so buggy that it was hard to give it to streamers to play before its release because the game was just not working very well. In this case, we have a list of people we want to reach out to for launch and I believe they're going to find this game to be a lot smoother and more enjoyable to play/stream.
I think square formation shouldn't be ingame if I understand how you plan to add it. Historically, the first use similar to Waterloo was during the French Revolutionary Wars, to my understanding. Don't get me wrong, there was some experimentation in its use against Cavalry (Lt. Col. Sir Andrew Agnew 5th Bart., in command of the Royal North British Fusiliers at the Battle of Dettingen, comes to mind. Basically, he formed his battalion into a hollow square, his front facing the charge directly gave way, so the French found themselves in the square where they faced crossfire from all directions. This was quite unorthodox.) Part of the reason why the performance of the British (and Hanoverian) Infantry at the Battle of Minden (for those unaware, one of the most iconic moments of the war, with some artwork even shown in the devblog), was so impressive was that they could repulse the French Cavalry. They stayed in line, they didn't form squares because its efficacy against Cavalry simply wasn't known. Instead, an order to brace would be far more historically accurate. It's quite late for me, and I will be travelling for the next week, but I won't hesitate to provide sources as quickly as I can if asked to.
Orders should not be immediately understood by units but should be sent from the general to units via a scout, and sometimes the scout gets killed so the order is never received.
Reminds me heavily of Cossacks 2 Battle for Europe. Defiantly need more smoke for the muskets in my opinion but looks great overall! 18th century is my favorite era of warfare.
I really like the idea of the game. I've already read that it's just Total War, but from what I've seen, the game might not hold a candle to Total War in terms of graphics. But it might be better in game mechanics. But it's too early to make a judgment on that now. At least I think the ideas that have been presented so far are great.
Yeah there's no way we're gonna be able to compete graphically with any AAA graphics, but after playing these types of games for so long, our team feels really confident in finding ways to introduce some unique or improved mechanics that'll just make the game really fun!
I usually do not comment, but I just found out about this game and I am excited! I have been playing Total war: Empire to death, wishing they would release a second title. If the modding community picks up on this game, it will live for ever. Good luck guys and good job, the game looks fun! Especially the part, where I wont be required to kill every soldier on the field to win.
I hope that people will make mods for this game, Modding is the best way for a game to flourish like Paradox Games i.e Eu4, Vicky 2/3, Taleworlds i.e Warband/Bannerlord, CA's Total War Games, etc.
I never tried F&M because i dont like turn based battle systems but as a long time total war fan this project looks very promising:) i love the idea for a regiment system. Hope it goes well!!!
Love this. I am a miniature wargamer and have always disliked how photorealism in some other battle games just makes the whole thing look grey when zoomed out. Art style and solid colour blocking makes a big difference here.
Really excited for this! One thought is the pace of troop movements. I wouldn’t mind seeing a slower move speed than is shown in this preview. I would prefer a slower, more methodical pace. But I’m sure I’ll really enjoy the game however it ends up. Really liked fire and maneuver despite its flaws.
I would like to know how you plan on modeling line-of-sight, powder smoke, smoke haze on the battlefield, and visibility of units. For instance, many games based in this era do not attempt to model the real life effect of billowing black powder smoke, nor do they approach the very real LOS issues that it can create. Games often overlook the fact that the plumes of smoke signifying reduce the effectiveness of either sides marksmanship.
Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe Austria wasn't a kingdom during this period. It was a Duchy (or Archduchy, regarding the title used by Habsburgs) and usually their rulers used to be the Holy Roman Emperors (and in progress of becoming the emperor they at some point were called Kings of Germany, but not of Austria). This minor thing aside, the game looks awesome! Congrats :-).

When you right click and drag to line up multiple units I'd love to see a dot where each infantryman will stand instead of the boxes signifying the location of the whole unit
I absolutely love the fire system a-kin to Empire, Napoleon, And Shogun 2 Total War, I'm pumped for this game! But a question I do have is would something like ETWs version of volley fire be added? (Where 1 square(?) of soldiers fire then the next all down the line and when it reaches the other end the square at the start has their load ready.)
Brilliant !! Love the combat system, customisation (flags and uniforms). Can you name and customised regiment leaders? Can you name regiments? Really looking forward to this title, thank you 🙏🏼
Oooo, some similar things to Empire/Napoleon Total War :D I do hope there may be room for an additional firing type like from Empire called 'Fire by Platoon' from Empire, very good for constant damage but terrible against cavalry. I do hope enemies morale can also be affected by their own friendlies that routed near them. Not a good thing to see your own allies running. And also makes more sense than routing entirely because one side lost a set % of their units.

When you right click and drag to line up multiple units I'd love to see a dot where each infantryman will stand instead of the boxes signifying the location of the whole unit
Exactly, that'll be the next thing we work on when improving the UI.
This is way better than the one from 2022 or 2023 i forgot what game it was that you guys made
Looks great ! Hope this game will be a great success and want to see coming... a napoleaonic game for the next one !
Brilliant !!
Love the combat system, customisation (flags and uniforms). Can you name and customised regiment leaders?
Can you name regiments?
Really looking forward to this title, thank you 🙏🏼
Honestly the art style looks fantastic and I would prefer it is kept,
Volley Fire seems to take significantly longer than free fire, almost like double the reload time. This seems a bit too inefficient
Was a little misleading becuase I had free-fire on a higher speed setting than volley fire, it won't be that exaggerated in-game.
On volley fire I would prefer a proper smoke effect than many single tiny sparkles for every musket.
Oooo, some similar things to Empire/Napoleon Total War :D
I do hope there may be room for an additional firing type like from Empire called 'Fire by Platoon' from Empire, very good for constant damage but terrible against cavalry.
I do hope enemies morale can also be affected by their own friendlies that routed near them. Not a good thing to see your own allies running. And also makes more sense than routing entirely because one side lost a set % of their units.
