    Great video! Question I have, If the AUX1 switch has been on (unknowingly) for a while, could that lead to a constantly drained battery?

    Great explanation! Would you recommend using these switches for an extra 12v outlet? What about extra lighting in the cargo space (LED strip along the driver side wall)? I have no need for the rear heat/ac, so I want to repurpose those into something useful. Thanks, Bill!

    what do you mean by ignition fed ... does this mean it has power only when the vehicle is running ?

    What was the thing you ended up controlling with the switch? A battery isolator or something?

    • @BillBultman
      @BillBultman  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Exactly. An isolator that controls my power inverter.

  • @dugdug007

    What’s the fastest way to get a hot wire off the ignition circuit ?
    Are those larger wires in the B Pil for a rear aux AC or Heater?

    • @BillBultman
      @BillBultman  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Grabbing a volt meter and start checking wires for voltage when the ignition is on and then again when off is the most basic/fastest way. Some circuits may be voltage sensitive, so be careful of what you're tapping into.
      No idea what the other wires in the B pillar are, sorry.

  • @mariak6613
    @mariak6613 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    OK I have to ask how do you have you isolator set up with this??? This is the first time I am hearing of this AUX switch..THanks

    • @BillBultman
      @BillBultman  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry for the delay in replying.
      It's a pretty basic set up. A thick main power cable from the van battery runs to the isolator, other side of the isolator runs to the batteries in the back of the van to charge them. (The batteries feed my inverter to give me 110v for my equipment.) The Aux switch in the van is wired to the isolator so I can shut off charging to the rear batteries if I choose. Otherwise, I just leave it on all the time to charge the batteries when the van is running.
      This can all be done without the AUX switch I highlighted. You just need to find power source that is only running when the ignition is on. That source is wired to the isolator so the batteries only get charged when the vehicle is running.

    how did you go about getting the part numbers for it? Thank you. I ordered them- came very handy. I have another two wire 10 GA wire connector next to this that has a male plug with out the male blade terminals. hard to find.

    • @BillBultman
      @BillBultman  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe I found it on a schematic via the Promaster Forum. Then plugged that number into Amazon, and there it was. I think it's a common connector and not proprietary to RAM/Dodge. Not sure about the other connector.

    Hello. Does this have to go to the auxiliary switch? Or, can I run it directly to my battery isolator with an on off toggle switch? Thanks. I have the plug in mating part & pins.

    • @BillBultman
      @BillBultman  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, you can do the same thing via a stand-alone switch of your choosing. I did it that way because I have the manufacturer installed switch(s), the majority of Promaster's don't have those switches from what I've noticed. Also, I have no idea if that plug has power at those pins if there is no manufacturer installed switches.

    where would you ground something in the B pilar. I'm using the aux 2 switch for a ball valve on my gray tank.

    • @BillBultman
      @BillBultman  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Anywhere you feel like attaching it to a metal portion of the vehicle. I put a self tapping screw in one of the cross supports that leads to the B pillar on the driver's side, near my batteries and power inverter.

    Would you know where there is information on this wiring block that explains what is is used for? Also my switch only has the dash light brightness up and down? My local dealer could not tell me anything about it and suggested I talk through a conversion company!

      @BillBultman  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't recall exactly where I got the info. I think it was at www.promasterforum.com . They are a wealth of information. And it basically gives you the ability to turn off power two different circuits that you can use how you'd like. I used it to control the isolator switch that feeds my power inverter in case I want to turn it off for some reason.

    Hey man..I was wondering what can I use the auxilary switches for? Am I able to charge a battery bank from these auxilary switches when the vehicle is on?

    • @BillBultman
      @BillBultman  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's too much load for the wiring/circuit. I use mine to control the battery isolator relay that goes to my aux battery and power inverter. That way I can shut off the power to the system from the front if I want to.
      The way I have everything wired is this way: I have a large cable running from the van main battery back to the isolator switch. Then another large cable from the isolator to my aux battery in back. The isolator is controlled via the wiring in the video above.
      I hope that helps.

    Hi Bill..great video! I just purchased a 2014 Ram Promaster 139 WB and I have a red button right above the three cupholders in the center dash that say 120v Inverter. No one seems to be able to tell me what this runs or how it gets connected. I can push the button up and down and it does not light up. Do you have any information on this feature? Thanks

      If so how is it identified ?

    What if I don't have aux1 or 2 in my van but I still want to use those landing points?

    • @BillBultman
      @BillBultman  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      By landing points, do you mean where the plug is? I'm not sure if there are powered wires in those plug holes if it doesn't have the Aux1/2 switches, or not. A volt meter will help you figure that out. If there are no wires there, you are free to mount a switch where ever you are able/like, and run the wires more direct. That's what I was planning on doing. I ended up doing it this way only because this van came with those switches and I thought it would be interesting to utilize them.
