Alliance National Rally 2024 - BLOWOUT!
It’s Day One of our trip to Elkhart to attend the Alliance RV National Rally and we had a tire blowout after only 90 minutes on the road. Thankfully, we are okay and smiling through the whole experience!

What specific brand of tire was it? Glad that you have recovered and are safe...
Our tires were brand new Carlisle Carlstar G rated tires. We have since put the spare back and have a new Carlstar tire. All with stainless steel valve stems and lug nuts.
Thanks for watching!
I hope that you have better luck on the rest of the trip guys.
We have had some ‘Breakin in’ issues like any RVer will experience. But we have been smiling through it and addressing each one. Alliance RV has been amazing.
Thanks for watching!
It looks like you have a newer Chevy HD, possibly an LTZ. Don't you have the advanced trailering system, which includes the ability to monitor trailer tire pressure and temperature? If so, you just need to install GM trailer TPMS sensors in the trailer tires and you'll get an immediate alert if you have a blowout or are losing air pressure. My Chevy has that and I like being able to monitor that on my infotainment screen. I installed Goodyear Endurance tires on my trailer right after I bought it so I have had zero issues with my tires.
We have TPMS and because the cause was a failure of the valve stem, the valve and TPMS was seared off and we never received notification from the system. But the woman driving by was quickly to let us know as we did not feel it.
Thanks for watching
@@GilComPlexOTR I'd still check to see if your truck is equipped with the advanced trailering system. The sensors for that system are on the inside of the rim, like regular TPMS sensors. I'm not familiar with aftermarket trailer TPMS setups, but I would think it would alert you to a lost signal. As for the valve stem, my best guess is it was sheared off as the tire was self destructing. I had China bomb tires on a brand new trailer and one of them self-destructed. That's when I found out tires need to be upgraded immediately after buying a trailer. That's why I use Goodyear Endurance tires now. Never had a tire problem since. At least you maintained control and had a mostly happy ending.
@@AlaskaErik - So.... we do have the 'advanced trailering system' but it was never installed when we purchased it. But of course, we had steel valve stems added to all of the tires while we were in Elkhart, and should have had them hook up the ATS while the ties were off. So we are looking at doing that before the next big trip.

Great video!
Thank you for watching!
rubber valve stems with screw-on TPMS capsules?
Yeah. When we replaced the tires, we talked to the general manager of the store and he stated that they use Heavy Duty rubber and metal combo valve stems. We shouldn't have listened.
Are you kidding. 2 men in a truck ?
Is that surprising? lol

trailer tires are trash should be band from use
Typical run-flat low on air. Bead leak, valve leak, underinflated, nail, etc.......sucks that it's a newer one.
It turned out to be a valve stem failure. We fixed that while here in Elkhart. Thanks for watching.
