OMG BFDI REF
Fun fact: blue used to be a gentle and calm color used to represent females, and pink used to be a jarring and strong color used to represent men.
The primary reason it isn't anymore is because the Nazis had homosexual prisoners wear pink triangles to mark them as such. When the war ended and the prisoners were rescued, the Americans sent the gay ones back.
It's all Barbies fault
So, we went from gendering colors to gendering colors again. Gotcha.
Blue was used as a simbel of status in the middle ages'es cuz it was a different color and there for a expensive color.
The deeper blue the more money.
Pink or red however was very easy and cheap
For the sexists who disagree.
Look at Baby Blue and Neon Pink side by side.
One color looks like it'd nurse you to health, and the other looks like a cyberpunk robot about to kill you.
As a sort of the reverse of the 'OR SHE' manager comic: I'm a primary school teacher, which is a VERY female dominated profession. A few years ago, we only had one male on staff. The principal would open every meeting, professional development session, or general announcement with, "Ladies--and Mark--".
I can't believe that the "they" pronoun offends conservatives so much. Just stop assuming everyone's gender and use the neutral pronoun that's in the dictionary RIGHT THERE! Saying "they" to save your time on assuming won't magically make you gay
My nephew is a cheerleader..... the announcer opened up with "Our girls and boy have a show to put on!" It took a while to get to the boy part because you could barely see him. He was bullied for being a cheerleader, too. Poor kid. He liked the bow he got for participating.
@@shadowfluff2255 when I was in high school in the 90s we had two male cheerleaders who were brothers. And they were FINE fine. They were the most popular cheerleaders and always had plenty of girls. No one thought they were gay. I think they chose cheering as their sport so they could be close to the girls and look under skirts tbh
@themanifestorsmind My nephew got bullied for it. He did enjoy cheerleading, though, and he was popular within the groups. There were only very few kids who bulied him.

Fun fact: British tanks in WW1 was gendered. The male tanks had the cannons, and were mainly used as anti fortifications, and the female tanks had machine guns instead, and were mainly used to charge with and cover infantry. As tanks began to have both machine guns and cannons, these terms eventually died out.

I remember recently joining my mom to go for a market being held inside a school. Now know that this is a decently small town with a decent population. 24:50 Historically, women's bicycles have no bar so they could ride with a dress and still be modest. So it's mostly useless not to have one now, since basically nobody is gonna ride a bicycle with a dress.
Fun fact, that frame design is still used today, we just call it the step-through.
Well, kinda. The design is used in folding bikes since it's easier to make one hinge than to align two.
I'd imagine it would be structurally stronger to have a triangle shape like the men's bicycle, though. But maybe that doesn't really matter because if you're in a big enough crash to break the frame in half, you've got bigger problems anyway.

Quick note! The reason you shouldn't eat raw cookie dough isn't actually because of the eggs, it's because of the flour. If you ever look at a bag of flour, it straight up tells you that it's not ready to eat and needs to be cooked in order to get rid of bacteria that might be in it.
Could it be because of both? Because I’m pretty sure raw egg is not good for you anyway.
Raw egg itself is okay but greater risk for bacteria... but that's pretty true of any food. Mass produced foods are put through processing plants that may as well be petri dishes. That's how you get salmanilla spreading.
It's also to kill and Flour Beetles in it...
If you've ever opened a bag of flour and seen small black insects crawling around in it, the bag is old and the Beetle eggs hatched...
@@HappilyHomicidalHooligan i buy the bag of flour for the eggs 😋
@@rosesandmilk The main risk for salmonella occurs when you crack the egg, as bacteria on the outside can get inside. However, the sanitation process most eggs go through makes this very unlikely. And while some eggs will have internal contamination, even this is rare, especially nowadays.
So while you can get sick from raw eggs, it's more likely to be the flour that does it.

@@Totallynotredtail Especially because if anyone dared to make male-only parking spaces you'd never hear the end of it. It's ridiculous.
@@Totallynotredtail There are separate parking spaces for disabled people and pregnant people/parents with children. "Frauenparkplätze" (women's parking spaces) are their own thing, also closer to the entrance/exit, with better lighting and visibility/camera surveillance, so women feel safer as they don't have to walk through a dark park deck late in the evening and/or can get help faster if something happens. It's the same idea as the separated areas in public transport in the video: Women can use any official parking space they want, but those spaces are specifically reserved for women who want to use them. They have been introduced in the 1990s after women's rights activists fought for them for years.

When I was a little kiddo, before we females were allowed to have our own credit cards (ie, the 1970's), I had one of those "school photo" books that you could put your school pic for each grade in, and there were spaces for awards and a handwriting sample of the kid at each year, along with a checklist of what you wanted to be when you grew up at that point in time. There were separate lists for boys and girls. The boys had things like "fireman", "astronaut", "policeman," "doctor," etc, and the girl list was "mother," "teacher", "nurse", and "actress."
I invariably chose actress. I think I have the thing lurking around on a bookshelf somewhere. And a boyfriend that reads books is a girlfriend??? bullhockey. When I first dated my husband, I knew I'd found "the one" because: a) his houseplants were healthy and b) he had a lot of the same books on his shelf as I did. He also shoveled the snow away from in front of his apartment complex's mailbox on our first date, but that's another story.
What really gets me is the idea that all women (or all men) are alike - instead of being (gasp!) individuals who all have differing tastes, ideas, opinions, and goals, regardless of gender. I'm so glad that the world is waking up and moving away from the gendered nonsense of my youth.
Oh, and fun fact: in the 19th century, pink - at least that strong fuchsia that we now all recognize as "Barbie pink" - was considered the "boy" color, and blue was considered the girl color, because it was "softer". So there's a thought.
As someone who is non binary I really get sick of seeing people only blaming the straights for things that have absolutely nothing to do with it. Your sexual preferences are not why you use gender norms. An LGBT person can say the same things as in this video and get a different reaction due to them being gay instead of them being a bad person. If you are someone who thinks that certain things should be gendered when they shouldn't you are not a good person no matter what sexual preferences you have. Let's stop with the only certain preferences are bad.

I'm a woman in my 60s. I had frustrating skin issues for decades. Then I found out that the vast majority of soap brands aren't _soap._ It's _detergent._ Detergent is comparatively bad for your skin, as it strips your skin of all the oils, leaving your skin dirt-free... But the lack of skin oil for hours leaves it vulnerable to environmental microbes. I kept getting nasty skin breakouts and rosaceae from hell.
Then I tried...soap. I heard that olive oil soap didn't strip the oils. The marketing department "greasy film" on your skin was clean fat from the soap, which had removed the dirty oil and replaced it with a clean and fresh layer, chock full of vitamins, and the new coating of natural plant oil is _waterproof,_ keeping your skin clean and soft.
I had initially bought fancy Aleppo Olive Oil soap. Then i found that Greece also makes olive oil soap, but it's not a specialty product, it's just _soap._ I bought a big bag, 6-250 gram double sized bars. Which lasted for over a year.
I washed my entire body with it. No special face soap and body wash. I even washed my hair with it. It left my hair and scalp so clean it squeaked, bouncy and with more body than I'd ever experienced. And even with regular use, that 1,500 gram bag of soap bars lasted a year and a half.
I bought some individual bars from several brands, some in the big, double sized bars, sometimes a dozen 125 gram "standard" sized bars. My favorite brand is Papoutsanis, but the "Kiss My Face" brand was nice, too.
Now, my hair is wonderful, I'm clean and free of nasty breakouts on my face, and I still don't use the detergent bars the marketing companies taught us we had to use. I don't use modern shampoo, either, for the same reasons. I use Papoutsanis olive oil soap. I get the bag of 12 -125 gram bars for around $20-25. I bought the last bag in 2022. Price went up to $25, but everything got more expensive.
I use a conditioner called "Mane & Tail", originally made for horses. It's just to keep my hair from floating like a cloud. It's great conditioner. A small drop on wet hands, rubbed together and gently massaged into the dry hair, is soft, clean, and manageable.
The plain soap I get has no scent. No perfume. Inexpensive and works great.
I draw the like at Lava soap unless I've been working on something greasy.

Yup
I worked in a nursing home. Every other Saturday I went around with a manicure kit and did the nails of the resident old folks. Now I would often do the men's nails, if they wanted, since their nails would sometimes get extra long and they wanted them trimmed and filed down, but one time this sweet old guy, (who was 100% of sound mind) asked me if I would paint his nails. I had a few bottles of nail polish sitting around and held up a clear coat asking him if that was what he meant. He said no and pointed to the neon green and said he thought it would give his family a chuckle when they came to visit him. So I painted his nails and we chatted.
His family gave me an official complaint and the hospital said I was forbidden to paint any of the men's nails ever again, even if they asked for it. The old guy was actually crushed and he showed me the hasty job his family had done as they angrily wiped off the polish. I felt so bad for him.

@@themisfitowl2595 Jeez, that's so sad - both the result, and the bigger picture issue of denying old people even the autonomy to make minor decisions about their appearance. Kids and elderly folks are *people* and their feelings should matter more than that.

The scrub daddy is made of a material that is softer in hot water and better at scouring in cold water. The scrub mommy is the same material with a piece of regular sponge attached. The gendering is to differentiate it from an existing product in the same line and niche.
yeah they misunderstand this, Pointlessly gendered is when 2 products do the same thing but pink is for girls and blue is for boys, Scrub Mommy and Scrub Daddy do different things, I know cuz I own both and they're really good products, (scrub mommy for my dishes and scrub daddy to clean my bathroom) Its just a gag where they seem married 😭😭😭
cock was the old english term for a small boat, and swain was a servant. so cockswain was basically a boat servant, and the one that steered the boat. as time went on, cockswain slowly started being used more as just whoever was driving the boat, and then when bigger boats were made with actual sectioned off places for said cockswains, they were called cockpits
One time when my little sister was a baby me and my mother were taking a walk and some of our neighbors said “Aww, He’s so cute!” They assumed that she was a boy because she barely had any hair.
Words I Feel Should Be Gender Neutral:
- Guys
-Dude
-Bro
-Girlypop
-Babes
-Baddie
- bitch
- babygirl
- queen
I mean I have always called my mom both bro and dude, turns out she literally doesnt care.
"Guys" is weird. It's almost only ever gender neutral when it's used in the second person plural as a form of direct address, like "hey guys, what's up?"
But if you use it in almost any other context it immediately sounds like youre referring to a men-only group:
"Me and the guys are going out tonight."
"Yeah I saw them. It was a group of guys."
Like, in the absence of direct confirmation that one of the individuals referenced is a woman, the base assumption is almost always that it's just men
@@formerctgovernordannelmall1452 Men are often kinda treated as the default in language and honestly society as a whole.
@@Exquailibur true that
One time my dad and I were at a store looking for the deodorant I used. We got to the aisle and I found it and said “I use this.” He looked at me and shook his head before saying “That’s men’s deodorant.” I then responded “well what the hell is the difference? I use this.” And he said nothing and we got it.
I also use a deo ‘for men’! Old spice smells good.

10:13 As someone that is from Brazil, i'll try to explain this in an almost understandable way. "Twenty-four" (24) is "Vinte quatro" in Brazil, which, in a play of words, looks like the sentence "Vim de quatro", which is "I'm coming on all fours" or "I came on all fours" or something, so... yeah.
ta maluco man 24 é o numero do veado no jogo do bicho
My classmates sadly are very sexist and always make fun of me when i say i watch transformers, Marvel, ect. (Im a girl, of course) And i always feel so hurt, and they always say "be yourself, if you like yourself like this then be happy" but when i say I play Resident evil or some 'boyish games' I'm the weirdo here. (Sorry for my bad English)
Ironically, some of marvels most powerful hero’s are women. Also don’t feel ashamed for liking ‘girly’ things. I’m a girl and like those things too.
They're dumb, you rock, and school is going to be a brief embarassing part of life for most people.

I LOVE MARVEL and a girl 👍
Some people test me to see if I really like it or am I just faking..... I always know more than them and they get petty and leave if they don't then I have a new friend
what even counts as a “girly” game, that’s so weird 😭 don’t listen to them, they’re dumb and you’re allowed to like whatever you want to. to use the example you gave: resident evil, it’s awesome, it’s so much fun, and EVERYONE should get to enjoy stuff that’s fun!

I’m about a third through this excellent compilation. Two notes:
1. (14:25) Girl’s Guitar book - The sticker on the book shows that it’s filled with guitar parts written by female artists. The title isn’t great, but it is accurate.
2. (19:16) It’s even worse than you realized. If you look at the patterning on the watermelons, you can see they just reshaped the “female” one w/ Photoshop. The image doesn’t even show two different things, let alone one male and one female.
Pee and poop bathrooms are a really dumb idea lmao

53:11 as a girl who has attended many sleepovers, I can confirm this is true, we have a spooky forest in my backyard, my house is now overrun by angry spirits and I must convince a boy to have a sleep over with another boy in order to kill the angry spirits we summoned

4:53 This actually happened in my city during the pandemic. In some days of the week only men could go out and in the left ones only women could go out. They literally reported on tv that the guys were having a hard time trying to buy a simple list of things, they had to call their wives or carry a long specific shopping list 😂
43:55 - I was deeeeep into Tumblr when the gendered parking spaces became widespread online, so I can explain this one. The women's only parking spaces are wider and kept well-lit and near door. Wider to prevent getting trapped between cars, well-lit to prevent an ambush in the dark, and near the door for quick escape and access. It was one of the few things I still agreed with during my brief anti-feminism phase, though I always felt that should be the standard for all parking spaces, not just "Women Only" spaces.
20:46 The funny thing is, my mom doesn't like diet coke, she drinks only coke Zero, take that marketing, you've failed
The purpose of the original campaign was to get away from the "diet", which is (was) more associated with women (but also, nobody likes dieting) and reach everybody. But yes, men where the far larger market segment. So naturally, more effort was taken to reach men. Ultimately, that campaign was a marketing stroke of genius and extremely successful as evident on how prevalent ZERO as moniker for food-items without sugar is these days.
Matpat also used to drink Diet Coke instead of coke Zero. Take that useless marketing! You deserve to fail!

As a guy, pink is way better than anything companies sell to us
NAWW the pink tax though 💀
Not to be that guy but the demand for a product dictates the price. If the pink version of a product sells more often, then that's why it's more expensive than the blue version. The seller can raise the price of the pink one because there is still enough demand for the product at the higher price (but not for the blue one). It's not a conspiracy to make women pay more for stuff or anything like that. That's how the price is decided for basically everything.
