Its true, there are wild big cats that were released back in 60s/70s when dangerous exotic pets act came in a lot of owners released them into the wild rather than having them culled.
They are there. Seen a puma and black leopard. The puma was from 150 yards through a rifle scope at dusk. No mistaking it. The leopard was in a black currant patch and chased by my dogs. I thought they had put up a rabbit, and I had the GSD run straight passed me, closely followed by a slightly smaller GSD, and a few seconds later my lurcher playing catch up. They were all on the headland now and the lurcher soon caught them up. I ran with the torch on full beam now, and saw the dogs under a hedge barking up an apple tree. I shone the torch up and saw two large green eyes looking down at the dogs. As I got closer, it's gaze was split between looking at the threat below and the approaching one with the torch. The GSD looked back at me and her eye's where half that of the leopard they had tree'd. I got within 15 yards and saw it look at me one more time, turn and drop down into the orchard the other side of the fence. I could barely make out it's shape as it was so black. My daughter has also seen one and I have heard them at night many times. I heard a pair of lynx squaring up last year. There is 450,000 badgers in this country, yet many people have never seen a live badger in the flesh. Fox's and deer are almost as elusive. They can have a territory of well over 150 square miles. The chances of seeing one without the help of hunting dogs or pure dumb luck is remote.
Thanks for sharing your experiences, that's awesome that you got to see them, I have no doubt they are about, but some people still refuse to believe it. All the best. Steve.
@@UnexplainedFilesUK Because there is so much ridicule, much evidence remains in private hands and is only shown to trusted knowers. I have been shown video of a female leopard and cubs in the background of the item of interest. They are blurred but clearly recognizable. I have also been shown trail cam photo's of a leopard. Set at a burst of three, it shows the leopard walking in front of a gate, then turning towards the camera and finally looking square on at the camera. 100% black leopard. It's a shame that so many take this as a joke and make folk so secretive about their evidence. Open minds attract truth.
@davidsmith663 yeah, people need to be more open about this, I don't see why they need to be secretive and hide things. I'm sure the truth will come out one day. Steve.
My uncle who lived in Darlington had two lynx cats, he let them both go one night when the law changed, I believe big cats are a real thing but just hard to get the evidence
I believe they are out there too in small populations, most people that see them just happen to be in the right place at the right time, thanks for the comment. Steve.
I used to travel down to north Devon a lot when i passed my driving test,& used daydream of spotting a big cat because of exmoor beast story’s,unfortunately i didn’t but when out off road bike riding with a group of about 13 guys in my local area which is North Hertfordshire about 15 years ago, only me & one other guy saw something odd,the corn was at its full grown & not yet harvested when something the size of a labrador crossed out of the field across a double track bridleway & into next lot of corn which only came up to lower shoulder height with back showing until it reached a hedge & was gone. It didn’t stop to look at us as it crossed the bridleway which if it were a lost dog would have been all over the place. When i got back & looked online there had been quite a few sightings Cottered/cromer area, this is normal countryside near large built up towns. This was great to see but it was just too far away to say for definite. Hope this is of use to you,& one comicaI moment i was out riding off road near whipsanade zoo/Bedfordshire one evening, during the day it was reported a big cat had escaped that day,i carried on working & thought nothing of it until riding up a track i heard a large sounding rustling in the bushes & in a panic rode up a dead end & had to retrace the same way and saw nothing. In this area which again is fully built areas with just normal countryside in between & has sightings within. Going back to the beginning i remember reading some where that a big cat could have a 250 sq mile radius because of my trip to Devon was 250 miles it could easily be looking for territory & cover this distance. I’m just intrigued, I don’t follow reports just saw this video & let you have my experiences.
That's some very interesting experiences you have had there, sounds like the second one got the heart pumping lol, and it's funny huh, usually we go searching for such things, and we never see anything, but just going along with our normal day then suddenly stuff is popping up, I guess you just have to be in the right place at the right time. Thanks for sharing your experiences, all the best. Steve.
Definitely, I would be curious to find out how many are around, as they have to be breeding for sightings to still be going on, but usually if someone sees one, it's just on its own. Steve.
I saw a panther in West Cornwall on Wednesday. What if you come face to face, I was about 100 yards away and luckily it turned and jumped into the hedge when it saw my dog and me, but what if? Have you a plan ov defence?
I bet that was pretty scary, and from what I have heard if you are face to face is you should always keep eye contact, and never turn you back on it, gradually back away whilst always keeping eye contact, and hopefully it will just leave you be, I'm no expert on these things, so that is something you should research properly, thanks for telling us your experience. Steve.
@@UnexplainedFilesUK from what I have researched... no direct eye contact and like you say don't turn yr back on them as hey are ambush predators. I'm just glad that the one I saw was down a hill and obviously wasn't hungry as I had my pup with me, just a 2 bite meal for such a large cat. I will say that I was aw struck and feel happy to have seen in person such a mighty beast as a Black Panther 😍
@@UnexplainedFilesUK Well actually loL... I just purchased a Trail/Tale cam so am going to see, maybe this kitty wants to be famous... watch this space ha!
There are big cats out there as mentioned they are 1's that we're released due to change in laws. I remember sightings of them being reported on the news back in the late 80s if l remember properly it was always in the moors area back then. We have so many woodlands scattered around for them to hide away in. As others have mentioned we have fox's and all sorts but rarely seen. We have a breeding family of them near me and we hardly ever see them so seeing a big black cat would be very hard.. 👍
Panther refers to the genus Panthera. This genus is what is considered the big cats. Panthera includes leopards, jaguars, snow leopards, lions, and tigers. Basically, the cats that roar. Cheetahs, mountain lions/pumas/catamount, bobcat, lynx, etc are not Panthers and not considered big cats; in fact, they are closer to housecats than anything in the Panthera genus.
That's right, the genus Panthera contains the five extant big cats. Panther is used to refer to melanistic leopards and jaguars. I would guess the sightings of large black cats are melanistic leapards. Leopards are a very adaptable animal and have a very wide geographical distribution, so could have easily made themselves at home if released in the UK.
Me and my husband saw a large black cat in Wales, near Langragog(I think that’s how it was spelt),it was slinking along the side of a hedge and turned and looked at us. It was unmistakable.
omg, I posted 2 comments about your claim of "the best" then deleted them because I thought "they're great but they can't mean that. Gotta be a reason". SO glad I did because my initial response was to just not watch more of the vid. I put that aside and watched. I'm glad I did. lol. You guys should prob be a bit less ironic in the outset of your vids. I don't doubt there are big cats, there are plenty of people back then (and now) that had enough money and were selfish enough to just dump 'em when they found themselves with potential legal issues. Thanks for continuing to watch lol, and I have heard about a couple of attacks on people, 1 was a few years back, I remember seeing it on the news where a boy got scratched on his face by a large cat, can't remember if it was a black panther or not, but apart from 1 or 2, yeah, very rare, they are more likely to shy away like you said. Steve.
@@UnexplainedFilesUK Hi Steve! I question how large the cat was if it was still referred to as a scratch, tbh. If you think about the size of big cats' claws and how small kids' faces are... it doesn't bear thinking about. I'll look it up, though. Thanks for the info!
I just googled boy scratched by big cat and found the article, it was from around 2000, an 11 year old boy in Wales I believe, I didn't read the whole article, just saw the headline, so you can try Searching that and take a look, all the best. Steve.

Yes there is verified Scottish wild cat, and also the black Callas cat in Scotland as well. Both a bit larger than domestic cats.
I was aware of some wild cats in Scotland, but to be honest I wasn't sure what they were, thank you for the info, all the best. Steve.
I think the real question is how many of them big cats are out there
Yeah, well their must be a fair few tiny populations dotted about I would imagine.
If the deer 🦌 can hide in the day, then the SAS of the predator cats can really easily.
Definitely, and if it's a tiny population, chances of seeing one are like finding a needle in a haystack. Steve
