    I like the idea of a battery powered snow shovel when you only get a few inches of snow and don't want to use the snowblower or a shovel injuring your back. I just wish that you were able to direct the snow sideways so that you can blow shovel the sidewalk while it throws the snow left or right on to the lawn.

    I bought one of these for my father for the exact reason you mentioned. You just walk it along and avoid any heart strain on our heavy New Jersey coastal snow. Now we just have to get some snow to fall so he can test it out 😂

    Thanks Peter! That was an excellent demonstration and review. I usually encounter a lot of slush in my area of Canada. My Toro snowblower is not able to lift the slush at times and it just falls down the chute or clogs it up. You should do a follow up on thus video about your using it for a winter and any pros and cons of Toro Electric Shovels. Has there been any significant wear on the paddles or shovel itself? Cost of replacement parts if needed. I know that replacement parts for my Toro snowblower are quite costly. $40 for a replacement Halogen bulb. I just converted over to LED. Not paying that much for a single Halogen bulb!

    If it can handle slush like that then it's doing pretty good. My snow blower would clog up in stuff like that right away and the slushy snow is the worst to shovel.

    I have one of the old Toro Power shovels that you plug into an extension cord. Someone chucked it out because they got a rechargeable one. We didn't have a snow thrower, so I grabbed it. Dug us out of 10 inches (25cm) 2 days ago. We had to do it in 2 passes though lol, like using a weed eater. First pass took the top of the snow off, then second pass was down to the pavement. Easily threw thick heavy snow about 25ft (about 7.5m).

    My neighbour bought one of the electric ones. It did a beautiful job of clearing the snow off their sidewalk... and putting it all onto my sidewalk and driveway. No, they never apologized or tried to at least clear the sidewalk in front of my driveway. It was kinda impressive to see that it threw the snow 25-30 feet though.

    I never thought electric snow brooms/shovels had any power or value but I am starting to become a believer. Other comments have mentioned that a couple of inches not enough to drag out the snowblower and a bit much for an aging shoveler. Hmmm, me thinks another tool for the collection is in order.

    • @petervonpanda
      @petervonpanda  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Do you have own multiple tools of the same brand? Trying to make the decision between Toro and Ego, and you make a good case for the Toro.

    • @petervonpanda
      @petervonpanda  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Great question, Paul! I am now definitely within the Toro family. Once I got a few batteries and chargers, it was just way easier to stay in the family, and what I like is that the batteries have different capacities too. I can use the giant battery on my snowblower, but the smaller one on my weed wacker. But most of them will accept the bigger battery, so if I know I'm gonna blow a lot of leaves, I can use the bigger battery, and the quality seems top notch!

    The problem with these is that it just takes way too much power. The corded version of these use around a kw continuously. It also seems they're not very good for anything more than the amount you can just push with a broom. Although, clearly in this video, you found the perfect use case with the slushy heavy but very few inches.
    Do you know if it can handle 7 inches of regular snow?

    Is it very heavy?

      It's pretty heavy, but the weight is in the thrower portion, where you want it. If you have to lift it and carry it around a lot, it's going to be a pain, but the weight helps plow through snow.

    I have the 80V Kobalt version, just wish they made them with wider version

      They do. Earthwise has a 16 in auger and a directional deflector. It's a corded and a 40v model.

    These things are lifesavers if you have a lot of steps and landings that are freshly covered in heavy, wet snow. The trick is to start at the bottom of the stairs and work your way up. Hold the handle vertically, standing on each step you have just cleared as you do the next step up so you can get close to the stringers and shave off the snow in a couple of passes. Though it took me a few tries to get the hang of it, I wouldn't give it up for anything now as it can move hundreds of pounds of snow with far less effort than it takes using a shovel. On steps It's Important to remove the snow before it gets walked on.

    I'd like to see a snow shovel compared to this electric shovel. The electric shovel didn't seem to get the sidewalk clean.

    How good is the battery? I keep looking at investing in 1 but worried about battery life? I guess I could always buy a backup battery if needed! Really really solid review! I usually have 2 or 3 small to medium driveways nothing super massive, I can shovel 1 by hand in like 15min

      I’ve been using the battery all winter. I finally just charged it again for the first time. It seems to hold a massive charge or the shovel is very efficient or maybe both. But I also haven’t noticed any wear on the battery yet although this is my first year with it. So far, I love it
