Mary I love these ideas. My husband passed away a few years ago and I still have some of his jeans. I'm going to try to sew some of these things for my children so they have something to remember their dad.❤
That's a wonderful idea. I still have some of my late husband's jeans. I'm going to 'attempt' to make these items. And then with the rest of his jeans, make some items for our children, and grandchildren. It will be hard for me to make the first cut, but once it's made, I'll be able to go through with it. I'm sorry for your loss. 🙏🙏🙏
My mother-in-law made a quilt from her husband’s and sons’ old jeans, coveralls, and dungarees. It is a family treasure now. Most of those people are gone. ❤️
When Mary says she’s going to do a project but doesn’t have what she needs, and will have to “wing it” I kinda giggle then pay very close attention because I’m about to learn something! Thank you Mary, you inspire me to ponder ‘new options’ in new ways! I loved how all the projects turned out!!
Haven't even finished watching yet! Didn't want to forget to comment. You are so creative, this is the most unique jeans apron I have seen! New excited subscriber, but an old sewist! Thank you for the infusion of excitement for sewing again!
When my father passed away I saved several pairs of his jeans. I haven’t made anything with them, yet. Maybe now it’s time to make a blanket. I love the thought of a nice warm throw made with his jeans.
I use to make aprons for my husband at work then I began to sell them to his co-workers. They worked in a plant that made rear carriers/axle for 18 wheeler, Freightliner etc. The grease and dust would get all over their work clothes. The denim aprons allowed the clothes to last tremendously longer even though they were work clothes. We used the extra money for eating out, watching movies etc. that we normally wouldn't spend.
I’m not a sewer, so for me the best part was watching your cats. Cats are funny. I remember reading that Hemingway who had many cats found it difficult to get any writing done when they were around because they would lay across his typewriter or chew on the end of his pencil to get his attention.
Mary your story of generosity when someone gave you a brand new machine just blows my mind! I love these jeans projects! I want to know how to sew with a machine. My mom wouldn't ever let me touch her machine so I never learned. So ironically many years later, I have inherited her machine which she wouldn't let me touch, I have it now but I don't know how to use it 😏.
I learned to sew on my Mother’s Singer sewing machine when I was 9 years old. My first project (at 9 years old)--a dress. I never hurt myself sewing either. We underestimate children!
@@vbee3571 Wow, that's great that your mom taught you so young, things learned while young tend to become second nature in a child. I was actually a very responsible teenager when I had wanted to learn from her & she wouldn't teach me. She had been very possessive about her belongings 😔.
There are endless numbers of sewing videos on Pinterest, you/tube and other social medias, for beginners to advanced sewers. I think you should be able to teach yourself to sew, starting at the beginners level, and working your way up. I have always loved sewing, and have always found it very rewarding.
@@beckysmith7142 Thank You for the encouragement 🙂! You sound very experienced. I will be sewing on a vintage early 1960's machine & it's not a Singer brand, I think it's a Kenmore but I haven't opened it in a while. I hope to find some videos which will teach me to use that one. Even just to be able to hem & shorten pant legs and sleeve cuffs would be wonderful!
Mary, I ❤ your ingenious & sturdy denim items. Years ago, I re-purposed many jeans (even some children's knee ripped 0$h Ko$h bib overalls in cute prints) into eyewear cases, pencil pouches, coffee mug sleeves, hair bands/barrettes/bows, door threshold draft stoppers, cowboy/girl themed throw pillows, travel sewing kit pouches, roll-up sleeves for art or makeup brushes, & cat/dog bowls' placemats. They all sold well at craft shows.
Mary I taught rag quilting in the high school by my home. There’s another way to make a quilt and it’s literally one square at a time. It’s on TH-cam. You may enjoy that way also. Sweet sweet video
Loved the throw. Would look so cute as a bedspread in a little boys room. And the apron, my dad had welding aprons made out of denim that I wore in the kitchen
Love the cat sitting on your lap as you were sewing. My cat yesterday joined me on the stationary bike. She stood on the handlebars as I was riding. Love your blanket and the bag the best. All were super cute.
Thank you for being a positive influence in the world and also what fun to watch pebbles lol I have a cat that always seems to know when I’m changing the sheets on our bed and he’s always right there to help 😉
I have 3 and a split king. So I have to put two fitted sheets on. Trying to tuck those on with the “help” of three is hilarious! Shaking the big top sheet on is the most fun though, 😂
I so enjoy all your TH-cam videos but especially this one with Pebbles and Twinkles. Since we lost our very special ragdoll cat Pegasus it warms our hearts to see how much you and your cats love each other.
Mary. You are so incredibly clever. I love using old jeans as fabric for new things. I had a friend that would make teddy bears and stuffed bunnies from old jeans. I have also made a lot of potholders , they last forever. Thanks for your channel, you are such an inspiration and your countenance is so pleasant and calming.
Mary ...absolutely brilliant!! You are now going to be personally responsible for most of your followers husband jeans going missing 😄😂...I love hand made items and yours are just adorable! Well done 👏 and new jeans for John now 😄. Have a great weekend Mary & family.
This is so timely. I've been trying to decide whether to donate some of my husband's jeans or make something out of them. Also, somewhere I have a stack of squares already cut out. Mary, thanks so much for the inspiration!!
So inspiring! Thank you. I've made quilts from denim before and love them. With a cosy lining is such a good idea! Thank you for sharing. Warm hugs from Sweden!
Mary …. THIS WAS GRAND ! Love each one of these ideas! I was laughing at your cat! I gave up sewing curtains, pillows, etc for people because I have 3 Maine Coon Kittens and 2 older ones….no way could/ or can I place the fabric on the floor and accomplish anything except belly laughs at their playfulness with my fabric! No matter what goes to the floor ( a sheet of paper, a sock for the laundry pile ) they are on it ! 😹 They do own all that is in the house ! LOL!!! Great, great video ! Have a blessed week Mary ! 🧡🧡🍁🍁🍁🍁🧡🧡
What a nice gift…the Bernini sewing machine given to you! Bernini was the brand one of my sister in laws, who is a professional seamstress preferred. Mary your video is inspiring and timely as my husband has been losing weight and I will soon have some clothes to sift through for “recycling” projects. Denim is such a versatile fabric to repurpose!
I have a (used) Bernina, which is absolutely the best machine I have used in 50 years of sewing. My siblings and I got one for my mom as well, there is no comparison to cheap ones.... Wish I was losing weight and increasing my supply of jeans!
I am not creative, no matter how hard I try. So I live vicariously through you. When, if you ever do, feel like your videos don't matter, just think of those of us who can't do what you do & enjoy watching you. I am just in amazement watching you turn almost nothing into something grand. Keep up the good work. Also, congratulations on doing so well on your channel that your husband can stay home & help you. I thing that is so neat. Good luck to you both in the future videos. Love ya.
After watching your video I called my mom immediately to find out if she still had my dad’s old jeans (he passed away 11 years ago). I’ve been meaning to purchase a sewing machine as learning to sew is on my bucket list and you have inspired me to do so even more!
You will love that. A little hint. Especially if you are new to sewing. Demin is heavy fabric. I have better luck with the fabric feeding through the machine if I lengthen my stitch and use a little bigger (diameter) needle. You will love having the keepsakes.
I was thinking the same, but with a different keepsake. We were gifted with our miracle son after 12 years of marriage and virtually giving up. I had always wanted more children and had an extremely difficult time parting with my son’s clothing. He is now going to turn 20 soon, and a bin or two of his clothing are holding memories in them. I love the feel of a heavier blanket. Instead of buying an expensive weighted blanket, I’m inspired to make one. Hopefully, I save a few of his little jeans to incorporate into the blanket. As for the bag...I could add little pockets of his very old jeans to the bag. If I put one on the outside of the bag, it would be an open reminder of the blessings we enjoyed when he wore those little pants. Lastly, the apron. I’ve wanted to make one out of jean fabric for quite some time because of its durability. Now I’m so eager to make one and include some memorable fabric to enjoy some times from the past. I don’t think I’ll let him get rid of a single pair of jeans! Or clothing for that matter!!!! 😂
I have a box full of my husband's old jeans. He passed away 13 years ago. At one point, I started cutting them into squares to make a quilt. I even kept a few of my boy's acid-washed denim jeans from the 80's. Things happened, project tabled, but this makes me want to resume that, now. Oh, I did finish one project. I made a Christmas stocking for my oldest grandson. Great projects! 🙂👍 P.S. Oh, very interesting. When you mentioned using 34 x 32 jeans...that's what my husband wore.
LOVE these ideas Mary ! ! I saved my husbands old work jeans for years. He is retired now and I counted and have 6 big totes full plus s few more pair. Your denim throw looks so warm around your fire ! ! Thanks for the inspiration.
You are amazing!! I'm sure you've made skirts from jeans as well, they're pretty cool. Not sure my machine would sew denim, not the best. I dreamed one night I was making a valance out of the tops of jeans for a little farmhouse boy. Kept everything intact and ran the rod through the belt loops, bandanas were tucked into the pockets. My best ideas come during dreams!!
Good morning Mary, What a great way to recycle jeans. I had my grandsons help cut squares and they even learned how to sew them together using old jeans for a large blanket. Love the bag,so nice and roomy! Blessing to you and your family!
If you don't have them, you must get a cutting mat and a rotary cutter! Once using one, you'll use scissors a lot less for sewing projects! Enjoyed your video so much as always!
I love everything you made from the jeans. You are so clever! The kitty was so cute laying on your work! They love to get right in the middle of what you are doing!! So sweet!!
I love every one of these projects. I am thinking the apron would make a good gardening or craft apron (because of the pockets). I LOVE the throw but in the picture of you setting with it placed over your lap, made me picture a really cute prairie style maxi skirt. There is no end to what you can make with recycled blue jeans.
Mary , you are so talented, you never cease to amaze me with your up cycling , another way to save the planet, ..i just love your cats you are "the crazy cat women" twinkle & pebbles are so so gorgeous, keep those videos rolling Marianne.. cheshire UK
I love all of your creations, I love denim. And I loved when your cat was playing on the blanket, it looked sooo loveable how you would gently pick him or her up so you could work. Sooo sweet. You are very talented and I've watched some of your other diys. If I haven't already subscribed, I will now. Thank you for sharing.
Great challenging video. I’m not much at sewing but your ideas were inspiring. Loved each item you made but the lap blanket wins the prize. Got a good chuckle at Twinkle or was it Pepples trying to play with the pieces of material. Thank you Mary for sharing your gifted talent. God bless my friend ♥️♥️😊👍👍
What a lovely video!! It is very inspiring to see you used the old jeans. I've made quilts like that in the past and sold them. But then I put my machine away. But even the pot holders make me want to get it back out! Thank you for keeping your mind looking ahead and bringing new/ old ideas to us every week! Love your videos and you and your family!
Great fun projects - sewing things from repurposed items is always fun. Loved watching the cats, my old guy (lived to 17) would come from anywhere in the house to “help” me sew. He would be on my fabric, on my cutting table, right up at my machine. He would get very feisty when I tried to move him. The only way to get him to leave was to shake the vacuum cleaner hose, that guaranteed he would run and hide for at least 30 mins.
Good morning, Mary....you spent the rainy day wisely and created some very useful items...AND you DO explain the process very well...love the quilt and the blanket!!! Your ideas are endless. Have a wonderful day 😊♥️🥰
I hate to admit it, but I sat with my jaw dropped through this whole video, lol. Wonderful projects! Such neat work! We loved upcycling old jeans back in the 70s, and it never gets old.
You're creative and an inspiration for so many. I love to sew and this has given me a great idea to make for my daughter and granddaughters. Keep sharing!
Love all the denim projects! If the squares are cut out using pinking shears, it will give a completely different look. Great ideas using “throwaway or giveaway” items… Brings back memories of my grandmother’s repurposed sewing…
Wow. I love them. Can’t wait to make all 3 of them. Thank you so much. Looks like a lot of fun to make and I am sure people would buy these. Definitely!
Your such a good sweet person and I love knowing there r good people in this world .I raised my children by myself because their Dad had passed away .I met so many good descent people in times that I thought We just wouldn't be ok ,times when the power got cut off r We wouldn't have a place to live .I'm so blessed to have the people We had in Our life and Thankful to God for helping Us through .God Bless U and Yours and thank y so much for all U do .
Sitting out on my back patio drinking coffee this morning…I was pleasantly surprised to see your video! You inspired me to get my machine out again! Loved the bag!!
Mary I really enjoy watching and learning! I've been sewing. Awhile and I enjoy all your projects! Well when I get to watch. Denim projects Are my favorite. I love the Quilt so nice!! I'm retired now but I still have a studio at home. You are a blessing and an inspiration. I'm a collector of unusual Denim jeans.(thrift stores) I just have a few. I have always wanted to make a quilt. I also want a garden apron. Well thank you. I spent 42 years in my own shop sewing for others. Now I can play abit!! Lynda.
These all turned out so cute! Great ideas. I made a denim fitted sheet for a crib mattress which is used for a large dogs bed. Works great, tough and washable.
I made a jeans quilt a couple of years ago and since then I have been saving jeans to make more "Jeans" projects. I cannot believe that I watched TH-cam video's earlier tonight then I watched your "Jeans" video. Love your projects, you're going to love that jeans quilt, so nice and warm.
Mary, you are always so inspiring. I can barely sew on a button but want to make a quilt out of my husband old jeans. I always enjoy watching you and the work that you do.❤
You did a beautiful job on all of them. You make me laugh when you say you have to wing it. I always know you will land on your feet and everything will turn out fine. Also, I love your furry helper a few times he looked like he was trying to help you spread out the blanket. :)
I love the apron! I do sew BUT still consider myself a beginner. I would LOVE a step by step video on how to make the apron. I know most sewers could just watch this video and figure it out but I cannot. ( Sad but true). Would love to make it myself but without more instruction I probably would be unsuccessful. If it was available in your Etsy shop I would buy it that's how much I LOVE IT!!!
Loved these projects! Always love you videos, you are so calm and soothing to watch and so great at explaining things! But I'm so curious if you made your sewing machine cover? If so would love a tutorial on how you did that and if not, where did you get it! Take care!
Places that sell custom made quilted bedspreads have large samples. When the patterns are discontinued, they pitch the samples. Take the largest one, fold it in half and stitch the sides together. Voila, a cover is yours!
Good morning! You are so creative, Mary! Seeing you at your fire pit made me wonder what you did with your grandfather’s work table that had been there when you redid the area earlier. I thought I remembered you saying you didn’t know what or if you were going to repurpose it. Just curious. Thank you for sharing your inspiration with us!
Mary, I think the pure of heart hear promptings from Spirit more readily and gain inspiration to be creative. When I watch your channel I see that in action! I just love watching all you do.
So cute! What size needle did you use? Did you use a thicker thread? And the same thread in your bobbin? I have a little stash of denim but my sewing machine tends to act up if I don’t have just the right thread and needle and some parts looked really thick to sew through. Anyway, your projects turned out darling!
Hi Mary I just could not help but leave a message how much you always inspire me I've got a couple of potholders down there that I was just about to throw away until I saw this video I just wanted to tell you that one of a million reasons that I like you so much is because you do what you love and love what to do.
I’m so impressed! Such a good use of the materials and I’ve been in the sewing mood lately too. This year I have converted beach towels into sun chair covers with straps that keep them from flying away in the wind, a hamper liner bag using the one that came with it as the inner liner for our families coming new arrival, used old kitchen towels to make cozy but washable crate liners for our puppies... and extended the width of our king quilt for the look I like instead of what the manufacturers wanted to provide us. So I bought two and used the extra material to make outdoor recliner chair covers.
Mary I love these ideas. My husband passed away a few years ago and I still have some of his jeans. I'm going to try to sew some of these things for my children so they have something to remember their dad.❤
That would be so special for your children. Such a great way to honor his memory.

What a sweet way to keep your husband’s memory alive for your children.
I ❤️ that idea and repurposing is always a better idea than tossing them out.

God bless my friend
♥️♥️😊👍👍
What wonderful repurposing of good, sturdy jeans.
Inspirational, as always, Mary!
John walks up to Mary while she is sewing. John says oh so you are fixing my jeans? Mary says yes that's exactly what I'm doing, fixing your jeans...
I love everything you created!!
You're very talented.
Good morning, Mary....you spent the rainy day wisely and created some very useful items...AND you DO explain the process very well...love the quilt and the blanket!!! Your ideas are endless. Have a wonderful day 😊♥️🥰
Love everything Mary! God has blessed you with such creativity.
I loved everything you made. I just donated all my husbands jeans. I may need to go thrifting myself!!
Awe the kitties and how they snuggled in the fabric 😻💕💕. I'll come snuggle them so you can sew!
I love all of these projects Mary! I have a huge bag of denim pants and scraps I have been saving for projects. Thank you for this video!
I love these ideas!! You are amazing Mary!! God bless you!
Wow. I love them. Can’t wait to make all 3 of them. Thank you so much. Looks like a lot of fun to make and I am sure people would buy these. Definitely!

Denim projects
Are my favorite. I love the
Quilt so nice!! I'm retired now but I still have a studio at home. You are a blessing and an inspiration.
I'm a collector of unusual
Denim jeans.(thrift stores) I just have a few.
Thank you for sharing your idea. I've been thinking about which fabric to use to cover the cushions on the couch where they all three like to sleep.
I don't think there's anything Mary can't do! I love the babies playing on the throw. How cute are they! 🥰🤗
Excellent. You always finish your projects to such a high standard. You never disappoint. ❤
So much fun !! And the cats had a lot of fun, too. That apron really turned out cute. Love it all. Thank you for inspiring us. ❤
Love the quilt!!!!! And what a good helper Pebbles was!!! Love ❤️ so cute
You did an amazing job on all your projects! Each one is unique with it's own character. Thanks for the ideas!
It shows how we can recycle what we have instead of always going out and buy new stuff.! Everything looks great!! TFS.😊 👍 💖 🍁 🍂 🌻 👖👖👖
Mary, you are always so inspiring. I can barely sew on a button but want to make a quilt out of my husband old jeans. I always enjoy watching you and the work that you do.❤
The Jean apron is my favorite. I really enjoyed watching the cats have a little play time trying to "help".
You did a beautiful job on all of them. You make me laugh when you say you have to wing it. I always know you will land on your feet and everything will turn out fine. Also, I love your furry helper a few times he looked like he was trying to help you spread out the blanket. :)
OMGOONESS! Such great ideas. My husband is an electrician. He goes through jeans like crazy. So many useful things. Thanks for all your hard work.
Fantastic ideas love. I loved them all so well thought out for all your designs x
Thank you for the inspiration !!! I love up cycling and these are wonderful projects, Thanks♥️🌞
This was so fun!!!! You’re amazing Mary! Thank you for sharing your talents with us all!
I'm impressed with just the sharpness of her scissors!!! My childhood consisted of my mom
Love your apron!! What a nice ideal to make it out of jeans. All three projects turned out nicely 🙂
Ive seen people make quilts out of their dads and grandpas flannel shirts. What heirloom to pass down.❤️
So cute! What size needle did you use? Did you use a thicker thread? And the same thread in your bobbin? I have a little stash of denim but my sewing machine tends to act up if I don’t have just the right thread and needle and some parts looked really thick to sew through. Anyway, your projects turned out darling!
I so enjoyed seeing your kitties playing on the floor and with your materials. The projects were amazing. So cute
Your ideas were all fabulous, Mary. What a good eye for design the Lord has given you. Thank you for sharing.
Hi Mary I just could not help but leave a message how much you always inspire me I've got a couple of potholders down there that I was just about to throw away until I saw this video I just wanted to tell you that one of a million reasons that I like you so much is because you do what you love and love what to do.
Mary, you are so talented. Love all you do. Thank you.
You have such insight and creativity. Each and everyone of these is fantastic. You are one smart lady.
Great ideas to repurpose jeans 👖 I especially like the apron on you!
