Thanks for that, we were just saying we want to go back for a week and explore all the Winton area has to offer. Maybe use Winton as a base and keep heading out.

Phew. I’m glad everyone got out okay. Please be mindful that driving on roads that are closed by the locals can damage the condition of the roads and make them dangerous for those following once the ruts have dried. Charlotte Plains is now on our list - looks like a lovely spot for a hot bath! Thanks for sharing, and we will continue to follow your trails.

Thanks for the follow. I agree with your comment regarding damaging the road. We did consult and wait for the sun and wind to dry out the track as much as possible. Always a balancing act getting the timing right. Appreciate the feedback.

Thoroughly enjoyed this adventure. Looking most forward to more to come. I don't think I would have gone against advice of locals though. Worked well this time but could have disastrous consequences. Good excuse to phone in boss and say "Roads are flooded. We cannot get out!" What a shame haha

Glad you enjoyed the video. There was a 4WD that earlier came in along that track and did provide us with an update on the conditions so we did feel informed enough to head off with the caravan.

Charlotte Plains awesome location. Enjoyed the locations you visited. How long did take to clean the vehicles. Welcome home.

They are amazing locations and we are still cleaning and doing minor repairs to the caravan. I have not started on the car yet. Thanks for watching

I agree that free camping on your own can be intimidating.
We loved Charlotte Plains and will return .. probably wouldn’t do the paid private baths again - although we did ours at night (and were lucky it was a clear night)

We agree with you the best time for the private bath would be at night time if all the stars were out. Although if you are camping at bore camp the convivence of using the baths there would still be our preferred option as it is a 10km drive back to the private baths.

Just one tip. Slow down for cattle grids. You never know their condition and can have nasty consequences. Good travels and safe trip

Oh my gosh you have just helped me out tremendously, I will show the wife that comment as I did try and say that a few times and I was cautious of saying it again on that crossing. But seriously it is great we are both enjoying driving and yes learning by the things we could improve on. Appreciate the feedback Thanks for watching

yes we love our free camping away from everyone the only problem is your away from everyone if that makes sense haha, but we bought some solar powered senser lights that work great and help keep the wild life from snooping around your camp while your sleeping and a quick question to camp at charlotte plains near the creek do you need a grey water tank or are they happy to just let you run a sullage hose from your van cheers nice vid guys

When you camp near the hot creek they ask you to not drain your grey water onto the ground near the creek. I collected ours in a 20L container and tipped it out away from the water channel, otherwise they are happy for you to drain your grey water onto the ground when camping further away. Great idea with the solar lights. Thanks for watching

Disappointed you chose to wreck the track out for others, there is a reason the owner didn’t want you to leave as he has to repair the track . We were there last year in the same situation and didn’t wreck the track

What the video did not show is we left later in the day after the sun and wind had been out and told we could leave by operators but at our own risk. I agree about damaging the track and we did consider that as well. A 4w drive had also just travelled the track before us and gave us an update of the conditions. Thanks for the feedback
