      In Shenzhen, a similar thing is happening around the 2 BYD plants in SZ (Pingshan) and Huizhou (Huiyang/Dayawan). Despite the pandemic, construction is happening at lightning pace and I'm sure in 5 yrs down the road, a new sub city with quality living and jobs will be built, all connected with the SZ and soon Huizhou metro and nearby high-speed train stations. Now, still cheap to buy.

      @@JaYoeNation All these high rise buildings are ok, BUT, when people
      try to get away from the same concrete jungle abroad , they are trying to spend
      some time in the nice , quaint, charming villages they used to enjoy and let their
      hair down, upgrading is ok, but many lovely villages have been destroyed to make
      way for these buildings, uprooting the farm folks who love farming, and destroying
      their crops, China needs to balance more, especially since there is not much agriculture space
      love your videos though

    I love these two videos of Geely town! I really liked seeing that huge farris wheel. And Jim's box camera is great! I appreciate old cameras like that. Hope the two young men got lots of nice pictures too. The drone gives a view we'd never see in a picture so that is exciting! I never thought I'd see a whole city built like that! Thanks~

      @C S LOW Well if there is one thing China is good at it's think win-win. Frankly they had brought in more than their share of of the bargain given that DRB HICOM still retains simple majority of shares. I've heard there's serious ongoing work for Proton to finally become a serious player in the ASEAN auto market too (which is potentially 20 times larger than Malaysia's!).

    Hey Matt, I've been seeing this for the last ten years, I know exactly what you mean. It's kind of breath taking when you see the scale of it. The first time I came to Shanghai in 2011 I was actually breathless in the car from seeing how vast that city was, it was too much for my eyes to take in and i've been telling people for years, you just have to see it, those huge apartment blocks as far as the eye can see....... and it's not just the apartments is it? The roads, the bridges, the new metro tracks reaching out from the cities. Another great video dude :)

If anyone here doesn't know, Ningbo is the first pilot city in the 'Made in China 2025' strategy and the city is investing heavily into manufacturing. • @theolich4384
      @theolich4384 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@rifamycin All major Chinese car makers are making progress design wise in recent years since, well they suddenly realized at one point that cars actually have to look sharp in order to sell. And it's not expensive or particularly hard to hire former Mercedes or Audi designers (for a quick facelift) or train an inhouse design team from scratch (like what Geely and BYD had done) after they've figured that out. What made Geely stands out is its sharing of chassis and engine with Volvo and Lynk & Co (Geely's indigenous luxury marque) cars and its more consistent approach on quality control compared to some smaller players. In return Volvo now has 3 plants in China (plus an upcoming one for Polestar) pumping out cars not only for the Chinese market, but also for the home market back in Europe. It's their way of participating in the BRI.

    Ever since Geely took over Proton Malaysia, they have turned the national car manufacturer in Malaysia from money losing car manufacturer to a profitable company. Proton x70 has been one of the best seller and now x50 is coming out. Without Geely, Proton may be over, even the locals are looking elsewhere. Proton's poor performance had been largely attributed to it's poor and badly management, the car quality has been a joke due to the manufacturer sourcing cheap low quality parts. Geely came in and help turn things around.
