A very interesting list of books.
I myself started this year with books by Hermann Hesse: I have already read "The Steppe Wolf", now I am reading "The Bead Game" by this author.
I want to share an interesting saying:
Nonfiction teaches through information. Fiction teaches through imagination.
Greetings from Ukraine, which is bleeding, but does not give up!

Loved Starling House, This is How you Lose the Time War, and liked The Dutch House.

The Dutch House was my first Ann Patchett. I really enjoyed it. The house and its atmosphere were almost a character in the book. I read it slowly and felt like I knew the characters and they lived down the street from me. I hope you enjoy it as well.

I am so excited for you to try The Lies of Locke Lamora!!! The book is heavy on descriptions of the world, so I highly recommend reading along with the audiobook which has a fantastic narrator!

Winn over at Literary Diversions listed The Will of the Many as her top book of 2024! That should be your next book after The Lies of Locke Lamora ( in order to keep your friend 😂)

That’s an ambitious list! I can’t make a TBR because I’m too much of a mood reader. You always make the books sound so intriguing! 😊

The Dutch House was just recommended to me by a friend whose past recommendations were great. So it is on my list this year too! Lets have fun.

I hope you enjoy Starling House! I LOVE Alix E Harrow's writing, she is, in my opinion, one of the best writers in current times (with Silvia Moreno-Garcia a close second!). I try to read everything she puts out lol
Some of the books I'm looking forward to reading this year:
A Drop of Corruption by Robert Jackson Bennet - the sequel to The Tainted Cup, I'm actually halfway through the arc currently and obsessed, it's so good
    The Bewitching by Silvia Moreno-Garcia
Witchcraft for Wayward Girls by Grady Hendrix
I also plan on reading The Will of the Many this year and look forward to seeing what you think of it, you'll probably get to it before me haha I have Mona Awad on my TBR as well but for some reason keep never getting around to her... maybe this year!

Yess!! "The will of the many" is good once you get in the mood for a chonkey book. I just started reading it again trying to keep my mind fresh before the release of the second book in the series 🙃

The Will of the Many may have many pages, but it reads fast. Was my favorite book of 2024. Great character development and world building !

I’m really curious about The Lies of Locke Lamora! I just checked it out and there are three books in the series and I love the covers. Hopefully they are as good as your friend says!

It is fantastic! It's a bit heavy on the descriptions so I highly recommend listening to the audio along with reading! I also recommend watching Merphy Napier's video on the book to get an idea of it. That's how I came across the book! ❤

Forgotten on Sunday sounds good! Adding to my TBR! Thank you! My goal this year is to get monetized! I'm working hard to reach 500 subs. I love this community so much and making bookish friends is awesome! ☺

Hi Alice, really enjoying your channel! Yes, Rouge has that same dream like quality to the writing as Bunny did. In fact, I’d say it’s even more amped up here. A total fever dream. So poetic. It reads like the cover looks if that makes sense. The colors! I really enjoyed it. Can’t wait to hear what you think.

Tom Hanks narrates The Dutch House in audiobooks if you want to listen to this book. I am intrigued by the Valerie Perrin book.

Hi Alice, I’ve only read The Gentlemen Bastards (loved it) and This is how you… (really liked it). The Valérie Perrin I don’t remember anything unfortunately 😅
This year I made a list of big books to read, especially Hobb and Branderson, but also the Dutch House. Anima by Mouawad, Martin Eden, Sophies world,…

I have a few empty weeks still in my reading tbr, but for the most part, I have the entirety of 2025 planned out. 🤓 That would be a lot to type, but I can tell you that I'm currently reading The Greatest Nobodies of History by Adrian Bliss for a bookclub meeting in February and my planner is telling me that today I will start reading Immortal Longings by Chloe Gong for my book of the week. That book was put on my list because I got an arc of the second book in the series through my bookclub, but I figured I should probably start at the beginning. 😊

I soft DNFd The Lies of Locke Lamora, I just had a hard time getting into it. But I do plan on trying again, maybe I just wasn't in the mood?

Hi Alice🙂, my goal, not REALLY goal, but desire; is to read only books I already have. I live in a very small apt. and it's ridiculous that I can hardly move in here. ( over 430 bks.). I don't even call it my TBR list anymore because I don't always stick to it. I call it my "Possibilities" list. HA HA!! I'm trying SO HARD NOT to buy bks, but have broken that already. You might like one I bought about Norse Mythology and being Irish decent had to buy a beautiful volume of Irish Fairytales And Other Tales.I know a little bit of the latter. Something I learned about C.S. Lewis/Narnia got me thinking about these subjects. Have you read any Norse Mythology? I wrote down some of your recs..uh oh... 🤗

Briefly a Delicious Life was a good but not great read for me. It didn't have a sense of place and time which really made me feel disconnected from the book. I hope you have a better experience with it! 😊❤

I'm trying not to give myself a huge TBR this year, but a few books that I want to get to are Dayspring by Anthony Oliviera, Blood by Dr. Jen Guntner, The Devil Is A Marquess by Elisa Braden and Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik 😊

  • @DarkBooks_DarkWine

My preliminary TBR until summer (which is bound to get overthrown at some point 😏): Emily Wilde book 3, Rebel Witch (Crimson moth book 2), by Shea Ernshaw A beautiful maddening, as soon as it comes out, and A wilderness of stars, which I still haven't gotten to... The Unmaking of June Farrow. And hopefully After the Forest by Kell Woods.
