YES! My grandmother did that- when she was 75 she told everyone she was 90, just for the fun of seeing their expressions:) AND getting the compliments:)
That tip about lips is very interesting. As you said, not many people know about it. I certainly didn't and I've been following make up advice for decades! Looking forward to trying it out tomorrow. Thank you!
Wayne I love the fact that you know so much about these mistakes that people are making. You're so nice about it but I've seen videos where other make up artists abuse the crap out of what people prefer. Thanks for being so nice about it and accepting as well as telling us more about ways to fix these little mistakes rather than mock people lol. You're the best Wayne! Thanks!
***** I LOVE YOU! I have been doing everything you tell me haha. I have been having trouble with my eczema and crazy dry skin, I know you have lots of videos on dry skin but could you maybe one beautiful day make a tut on a super dry face? with tips for us..TH-cam has so many vids for oily skin but not much on dry..lots of love from nyc
+Dawn Pribis I too have extreeeemly dry skin. I went to a dermatologist and what she prescribed made me drier. I saw an aestatiician(?) and she recommended a hydrating facial. Anything you can recommend would be deeply appreciatedl. Thank you so much.
cutewidowlady B hi the soothe regimen hydrates better than anything I've used in 47 years! Go to my site www.dpribis.myrandf.com and look at that; ) lmk if I can get you started
as a woman who is recently noticing I'm looking older I am so grateful for your advice. The final snapshot, the "Don't do this." pose is fantastic. Sure made it clear what you were talking about. Honestly, what many younger people do not realize is that as we age, our vision is weakening. We do not always realize how we look to the world. Thanks for the advice and the humor.
Omg, I seriously thought I clicked on the wrong video, or that I accidentally started another one by mistake, like I'm not even joking! This is Wayne Goss 8 years ago?! What?! 😮I'm shook! And he's still just as handsome as ever! 💙 Aww! 💙
totally! also eat good lots of veggies, avoid meats & alcohol and drink LOTS of water. My GF is 10 years younger then me and she thought i was younger then her when we first met
I liked your frankness. Ir's to bad more people aren't like that. I am 75 and I appreciate everything that you have said. I didn't know about the lip liner thing and I just a few weeks ago found out about the eyebrows. Thanks again for a great job.
Wayne. No one has ever given me a true honest analysis of not only my aversion to aging, but the manner in which you convey your wealth of knowledge is a gift. Thanks so much. You are the best at this venue. Amazing!
You have taught me more about makeup than I want to admit for many reasons. Your statement that foundation is not meant to give you colour but just meant to smooth out your complexion is so helpful to know. And the blush and bronzer is what you should use to give you colour. Thanks. I am embarrassed to say that I needed this info.
I wonder if this 2010 Wayne knew that he would have 2.6+ million viewers by 2016 and that he would be still be making videos albeit with a new fancy 4K camera. So adorable, great timeless tips just wonderful.
Thanks so much, at age 61 i need all the help i can get! You are the best. I trust your advice, there are alot of experts that dont know what the hell they are doing! I trust you. And enjoy your vldoes thanks you are a sweetheart
Brie R ✴Be CAREFUL what you say. I know a 53 year old and she doesn't look like she's out of her 20's! Of course she's never worked very hard in her life! like alot of ppl and she has good genetics. Never did drugs or smoked cigarettes or drank alot of alcohol.
I never tire of watching your vids.. You're the only one ive found that makes sense.. You explain it in detail but never make it boring.. Im definately a huge fan.. I dont watch any others now..Just you.. because your advise and knowledge is exactly what i needed.. thx
Another tip to grow eyebrows and lashes: Castor Oil. Using a clean mascara wand, dip into a small bit of castor oil and apply it to your brows and lashes at night before bed. I was guilty of the overpluck, and the tadpole lmao, but I started using the oil and they really did grow back rather nicely ( my profile pic is an older one where I kind of wanted to look a bit evil, hence the thin eyebrow lol)
Oh my goodness Wayne. I have been watching forever but damn I didn't know it's been this long. GODBLESS the success, your sexier now! Most of all you never sold out or got petty! I love you.
This was huge during the 1970's. We all did the eyeliner under the eye. I guess I am dating myself. I like a dark liner on the upper lid & blue on the lower lid.
I came across your videos on accident last night and now I can't stop watching them. Great tips! You are so right about the thin eyebrows. Omg! It's my biggest pet peeve being an Esthetician and a make up artist!
You are so kind about mistakes. :). I think you could send someone to hell and they would be actually looking forward to the trip. You are a sweetheart. I am glad I watched this one. 😏👼
I think its good advice and didnt take offense to it at all. I'm one of the ones with a mousy mouth and was making the mistake of drawing over my almost nonexistent cupids bow too high, which later in the day made me look like I'd been kissed by a sloppy clown.
I always enjoy listening to your tips! Thank you and I love Clinique but seriously scary where I live, they are so colored on their faces with make up it is so theatrical. Pan makeup I believe it used to be called and scarrier than clowns. Oh and I just buy what works for me and ask for no advice....disastrous advice if you do ask. Absolutely no clue here how to put.on makeup at any age. Haha thY is why I listen. To you! Marvelous!
Great advice. I'll try your lip liner trick even though I'm enamored my Cupid's bow! I tight line my eyes with espresso shadow and an angle brush much as you described but hadn't thought to put it on my upper waterline. I love trying new techniques. Your hooded eye tutorials have been a huge help. My eyes are fairly large but deep set in large eye sockets - a lot of space between lashes and brows - a challenge to work with. When I succeed, my eyes look very good. I also have very pale skin, and I'm 67, so if I go overboard the result can be a bit freakish! I use a nude pencil,on my lower waterline to brighten and open up my eyes. Also a dot above my Cupid's bow, blended carefully. I really have to change my profile pic - it's my happiest face, taken by a dear friend who loves me, so the camera sees what she sees - but I have zero makeup on! I hadn't worn makeup in years because I'm legally blind, was afraid I'd poke my eye out. But my BF gave me a magnifying mirror at Christmas (hint?) and a makeover for my birthday (big hint). After I recovered from flu and got a good look in that magnifying mirror! OMG what happened to that poor woman? So I got on TH-cam, found you and my two other makeup gurus, and instantly became addicted. I'm enjoying my second adolescence. Oh, and got eyelash serum which is working so I'm trying it on those over plucked brows too. Another thing that makes older people look even older is overdoing airbrush-looking brows so they look like they've been painted on. I tried several tinted brow gels but I have brows like Einstein that nothing would tame. So I made my own brow gel with Bare Minerals brow powder and Got2BGlued stiff hair gel. I apply it with an angle brush and brush through with a spoolie. It stays put even after hours of swing dancing. Enough blather! Thanks for reading :-)
I've been connecting the cupid's bow on my top lip for several years, instead of juvederm fillers, and it works great! I was excited to hear that my fave beauty vlogger actually recommends it!
I have really been enjoying your videos. Especially the ones with Mandy! They have been a great help for me updating my style as an older woman. Thank you!
I very much appreciate your honesty and thank you for the tips. You know what you're talking about and that is very comforting when wanting to learn something the right way. Please, keep doing what you're so good at because not too many moms know about applying cosmetics.Therefor, we have no one to teach us!
+Silverwood Meadows may I ask which one's you've listened to, what your results were, duration for those results, and if this must be continued for maintenance. I ask because I came upon them only just today. I saw the one's regarding aqua eyes. I have aqua eyes already, but wanted more a little more colour .They're ice blue -green with navy outline on iris, but sometimes according to weather, clothing, etc.; they can appear slightly gray. I also wondered about the vids about hair and eyelash growth. I'm a natural light blonde and though my lashes are long, I'd like them to be thicker as well as darker. Actually, I'm a bit skeptical about the whole subliminal thing. Would simply like your input as to what luck you've had and your opinions on self hypnosis. Perhaps I didn't view the same videos. I merely scanned them. Thanks and God bless!
+Stacey Kersting I did the same thing. If you're happy with the look you've achieved great! However, I found some great tutorials on outlining according to natural, previous brow line with a correlating brow pencil. Then I fill in. I begin inner eyebrows exactly at the outside of nostril ( take pencil and hold from nostril to forehead. You probably already know this anyway.) I just barely feather with pencil strokes inside, increasing darkness intensity as I continue to the arch, then feather pencil strokes outward towards the end of brow. I'm going to try the castor oil, but until then, this is the most attractive and natural -looking eyebrow look I've been able to obtain. My father warned me. I used to have thick beautiful brows with a great arch nevertheless, I wouldn't listen. Oh, I used to fill in with shadow, but even though the aforementioned takes a bit longer, it looks more polished, at least on me anyway.
I’ve always been the Brooke Shields eyebrow look. Not because I loved the look but the pain of waxing or tweezing....oh lord the pain. I tweezed a few once and my nose ran and my eyes watered.
I love your candor and your explanations on why some techniques are doing an injustice to what one is trying to achieve. I'm a transgender woman really just learning and experimenting and your videos (even the rants!) have been sooo informative. I hung out with a friend of mine last night whom I haven't seen in a while, and she told me my makeup was stunning! Out of all my friends, I never thought I'd hear her say that. I love her, but she s hard to impress! Thanks to your videos, i walk out the door with my head high, because I look and feel terrific, and beautiful!
Bronzer always seemed like such a weird concept to me. You can put it on your face, making it nice and golden, but then you notice that your neck is still white. So you dust some on your neck. Then you notice that your chest is still white, so you dust some there too. Then what about your arms? What do you do if you're wearing a tank top and you've got a golden face/chest/neck and white arms and a white back? It just seems so odd.
I'm 23, and everyone says I look 16-18. What I'm finding hilarious is I'm sitting here with just eyeliner on the bottom!!!!! I wanna run to the nearest barroom and remove it! Maybe then I'll look even younger. I love Wayne goss. He's made me feel so secure about my fair skin and working with it not masking it! I love you. Xxxx
There's a couple reasons I'm aware of why women put eyeliner under the eye and not on the waterline itself. I don't do it because I have allergy eyes and even the chemicals in hypoallergenic eyeliners irritate them. My mother didn't do it because she read that it makes the eye appear larger, especially if you line the waterline with a white pencil before applying the black on the lower lid.
Was so glad I watched this video because of the lip lining suggestion . I wasnt sure when I heard you say to connect the cupids bows how that would actually help or if it would even look good but after doing it I am so happy ! Its a great little tip and I hope others will be willing to give this a try .
Every. single. thing you have said in this video has reiterated what I show & tell my clients! Especially the bottom liner panda bear thing lol! Love your videos! Thank you!
Wayne your so right when it comes to the daft things women do that age them, I laughed a few times as it rang a bell to a few people I know...and have known, hope they watch this
I used to work at a Clinique counter.........and I never had a different color on my face vs. neck. I was the champ in matching foundation for clients. I am left handed, and very artistic, and a great judge of color. So, that being said, I work as the supervisor at Kohl's Beauty in my store where we have many different lines of cosmetics and skincare now. My customers have always trusted my judgement on foundation color for them, and come back to me all the time. There is nothing worse (IMHO) than someone who looks makeup fake with foundation! Thanks for saying what you said about the "old" look! :-) I am pushing 60, and most people think I am 10-15 years younger! Guess I am doing something right, huh? ;-)
Great tip about taking the lip liner over the cupid's bow! I've never worried about my lips, but I tried this out for curiosity's sake and I love the result! Slightly pouty, kiss-me lips, without being tarty. I use this all the time now - thanks!
I am so glad to have found you. I love your down to earth honesty. You make me laugh out loud!!!! Your tips are amazing. I taught make up application years ago and much of what you teach (basics) I knew but I continue to learn a number of tips from each of your videos. I am thrilled about that. Thanks and you are great at what you do. You love what you do, it is so apparent!!!! Toronto, CANADA
omg! when u said "thanks for watching" i looked down and read some comments and when i looked back up it showed your "don`t look like this"face and i swear my heart skipped a beat because i got a bit frightened hahah. Great tips! I especially liked the one about the upper lip, I will try this, thank you!
A million thanks for an honest take on these habits/techniques. Better to know and fix it I find. Styles and products change, I'm not an expert - so I listen to one. Thanks Wayne!
When I was about 17, I started trying out higherend foundations. I came across a clinique counter in Macy's and a girl attempted to match my skin to a foundation. It was very dark in the store, so I couldn't really see the tone of my skin after she applied the foundation. I got to my car and looked at myself in the mirror, and to my horror, there was an obscene line of demarcation, separating my neck and face. My face was a bright orangey pink contrast to my neck. I will never go back.
Oh I found you a few days ago, and I'm the happiest I could ever be. What you said about The Clinique Ladys was a real Eye opener! Thank you so mutch! Great I'm sick at home and now can watch all you're vids. Stay as you are. Love and hugs Kelly P.S. Sorry for the grammar. T9 is in German 😉
I've recently hit 20...errrr...I mean 50, and have decided I need a little more makeup these days. I'm fortunate that I have my mothers wonderful young skin, but my eyes are starting to sag some. Anyway, I wanted to say what wonderful video's you have. I've learned so much, and want to say a big THANK YOU. Thank you, especially, for tips and tricks for us oldies. You're awesomely awesome.
You are always very informative and add a nice dose of humour. I agree with all your points. I would add though that its important to soften your eyebrows so they dont look hard by lightening them a shade lighter than your hair colour eg dark grey hair then light ash brown eye brows but if blonde hair then brows a shade dark than your hair. False eyelashes are now everywhere but when your over 40 its very important to use natural length lashes or even better use individual eye lashes on the outer half of your eyes. They really help to open up and flatter your eyes. A full strip of false eyelashes cast a very unflattering hard dark shadow over your eyes. YIKES!! Priscilla Queen of the Desert eat your heart out! Keep your look soft and smile. There's nothing more youthful than a good sense of humour and a genuine warm smile! ; )
Do you ever get requests from youtubers to send a pic of themselves to you and you give advice on how to work what they have or made up-what they have done wrong? I would be willing to go there .i am time poor but of an age i need makeup trickery - could sed before and after - young then aged ..curious to hear if i can be helped - overview is my best friend -he loves Fleetwood Mac and Stevie - i remind him of her - i think is mostly the expression 'behind' the eyes -which is underrated -btw - are your eyes that green? lovely...j9
Lol in the 70's I had a Saturday job in the cosmetics and perfume department of a local big department store. Every consult was orange with a white or suntanned neck...I don't think things have changed much and the orange ladies are so bloody condescending. ..do they use mirrors?
Oh my goodness Wayne. Talk about glowing up! You look so much more handsome now than when you were younger. 😜 Was fun to watch this old video. 🙃 Hugs 🤗
I overplucked my brows years ago and now that I'm in my mid 40s, they don't grow anymore. so I am stuck with thin eyebrows. I really can't do anything with them becaue they are dark...almost black...so a brow pencil wouldn't do well for me I would think.Any suggestions to soften the eye area if I am doomed to thin brows?
Hi.. i just wanted to mention anastasia Beverly hills.. i love her brow powder it makes a world of a difference for me.. it takes months for me to step into a brow threating place! i also use a mac 266 brush and it works amazingly! ! I hope it helps!! :)
Try Wunderbrow or any of the waterproof gel brow products out there. Wunderbrow doesn't budge at all, even on my oily skin, and is great for creating a natural, fuller looking brow.
radiantchristina Maybelline Master Sleek Brow - Dark Brown - mascara for eyebrows - make ssure you brush through afterwards. There are also serums which help to grow your brows back. Rapidlash, and many more, Search lash and brow serums online, the effectiveness and price varies dramatically. If you have a presecribing nurse type beauty therapist (certified for botox etc) they can prescribe Lamisil or Lumigan, and advise you of all of the pros and cons.
Anastasia is the best. She is the queen of beautiful brows and her products are top of the line. I have a bald spot in my right brow, so I rely on her products everyday.
Thanks for all of your great ideas! I especially liked the idea that foundation should match your skin and not a shade darker which a lot of makeup counter artists recommend!
Elley Henderson bc he's one of the top makeup artists on TH-cam and one that's an Actual makeup artist in real life too. He has amazing tips and this is a really old video.. Baby Wayne lol
My husband's tip to looking younger ------ Always be around people older than yourself you will immediately look younger.
Maybe! LOL--it depends on if they look really really good or bad for their age!
Bec R Ahahahaha! Omgosh! I have to try this! Lol
Bec R yes!! AND...tell people your slightly older than you are! They're like, "WOW you look amazing!" Lol!!! sneaky :-)

I am watching this today 30th April 2019 and I must say that Wayne has grown into a very beautiful human being. Still a calm, kind-hearted soul.
Oh yes! That's so true.. I like him. A very sweetest soul I've ever met! 😀😉😇👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻❤❤❤🌹🌹🌹
Still true in 2023😍

As a 67 year old, I approve this message...and might I add: no tomahawk slashes of blush, and learn hooded-eye makeup techniques.

Watching in 2018 and still on point!❤️
The eyeliner ONLY on the lower lid is bizarre. What are they thinking? It's like having an upside-down eye.
Lorri Lewis I don't really get why he doesn't like it. But I have very long and black eyelashes so maybe I can wear it and others can't.

Like you've been touched by the sun not attacked by it (rofl) thanks Wayne ...i always go back to this video
Hilarious! I LITERALLY....laughed through out the whole video. Wayne, you sound insulting but yet so nice. :--))
Wow! This tutorial was done in 2010, you have been around a long time! That shows something!! Adore you and thank you!!
How to instantly look young: Watch a tutorial from 8 years ago :-)
I completely agree!! I’m fair-skinned, and feel that if was SUPPOSED to be darker, I would have been.
Tammy Eaton me too
Bronzer always seemed like such a weird concept to me.
Wow almost 9 years later! Please do an updated version! You was a baby here! But you're aging really well! X
I love you. Xxxx
"it's dirty, its nasty, I don't like it"!!! LOL!!! that soooo hilarious.... love you Wayne!
The "end" is fabulous ;-))))) Grazie from Milan
Was so glad I watched this video because of the lip lining suggestion . I wasnt sure when I heard you say to connect the cupids bows how that would actually help or if it would even look good but after doing it I am so happy ! Its a great little tip and I hope others will be willing to give this a try .
Every. single. thing you have said in this video has reiterated what I show & tell my clients! Especially the bottom liner panda bear thing lol! Love your videos! Thank you!
wow I am watching this in 2016 . you look so different. I have been following you from 2009 so missed this vid.
Always good advice [with a bit of humour]....thanks, Wayne!
Shouldn't have watched this video before getting ready for my first day at Clinique. Currently frantically checking my neck!
Absolutely agree on the cupid's bow tip to help make the top lip appear fuller and pouty! I love the effect.
Wayne your so right when it comes to the daft things women do that age them, I laughed a few times as it rang a bell to a few people I know...and have known, hope they watch this
Wow great video even though this was years ago... great tips.... guess that's why your a pro!!!😊
I so wish I could have you do my make up one day and make me look beautiful!!!
Love your videos... they are helpful and funny :-)
Guess I am doing something right, huh? ;-)
+Kristine Banas "They certainly do where I live...!' C'mon, that's the best line in this whole video...lol, :)
You come across as full of yourself. Also if you look so young and amazing why are you watching this video?
ha ha touche
Great tip about taking the lip liner over the cupid's bow! I've never worried about my lips, but I tried this out for curiosity's sake and I love the result! Slightly pouty, kiss-me lips, without being tarty. I use this all the time now - thanks!
And here I am, 10 years later!!! Greetings from Florida, Wayne ;-))
another one- overly set, overly sprayed, old lady hair. More natural looser hair is younger looking.
This guy is so brutal but hilarious
He isn't brutal, just honest.
ooompaa loompa orange tan, Sharpie brows, 60's lazy 1/2 a application eyeliner look, trout mouth, ooompa loompa pink foundation......Whew...thanks for the tips..
I am so glad to have found you. I love your down to earth honesty. You make me laugh out loud!!!!
Your tips are amazing. I taught make up application years ago and much of what you teach (basics) I
knew but I continue to learn a number of tips from each of your videos.
I really like your upper lip advice
ive really enjoyed watching this especially bout thin lips mine seem to look thinner as ive got older so will be trying it out thank.u x
Awwww you look so young here. You forgot to add: "You're only as old as the man you feel."
Miss MonMon HAHAHAHAHA !!!
so nice to see your sense of humor. the picture of you with the wrong makeup cracked me up at the very end. thanks!
A million thanks for an honest take on these habits/techniques. Better to know and fix it I find. Styles and products change, I'm not an expert - so I listen to one. Thanks Wayne!
I cannot understand how you can connect the top of the cupid's bow and not look fake.
Lauryn hill used to do it quite nicely
Really hard if your lip shape is like Anya Taylor Joy's 🥴
AWWWW YOURE A BABY😩❤️ watching in 2017 what's up✊
I have found someone else that has issues with Clinique. Yay. The Clinique perfume is so 80's and so strong, I want to puke when I smell it.
Love and hugs
Kelly
P.S. Sorry for the grammar. T9 is in German 😉
Clinique women😁 LOL! I love their skincare but I swear to God the foundation is always too dark!
Omg baby face Wayne. You look mah-ve-lous
Applying eyeliner on water line is only good for people with big eyes cos it makes your eyes look smaller.
That's not really a hard and fast fact. It *can* make your eyes look smaller, depending on what else you do with the look.
Eyebrows r gone! Thank you for addressing old faces. I get so much info from you!
You're awesomely awesome.
how I wish I had never punked my eyebrows.
me too
I died at the end!😂😂😂
178 Clinique women disliked this video :p
Lol!!!
There's nothing more youthful than a good sense of humour and a genuine warm smile! ; )
This is also helpful for young people. At any age you don't wanna look bizarre! Very good advice!
Great tips for upper age gals!
Man--I LOVE watching you speak. You're just pleasant and entertaining. Plus, your info is great. Thanks!
Oh my goodness Wayne. Talk about glowing up! You look so much more handsome now than when you were younger. 😜
Was fun to watch this old video. 🙃
Hugs 🤗
Overplucking eyebrows, ya, bad! BUT, BUT, us 50 babies did this to look like Twiggy. Now the eyebrows are bare here, bare there. What a mistake!
Thanks ladies!!
Who is watching this in 2016? Say Aye! Quack!!
+Quack Factor Aye! Quack!! Look how young he looked! Looks much better now I say.
+anonocomment I agree! He's so much sexier now!
aye!
yep
Aye
Thanks for all of your great ideas! I especially liked the idea that foundation should match your skin and not a shade darker which a lot of makeup counter artists recommend!
LOVE YOU! You are a real artist and the advice is from a real part of make up, I am so glad that I came across your videos🙌🏽
I am 14 why am I here
+good dancers I wore make up at 14 but it's good you don't. Stay young as long as you possibly can!
omg same
Elley Henderson bc he's one of the top makeup artists on TH-cam and one that's an Actual makeup artist in real life too. He has amazing tips and this is a really old video.. Baby Wayne lol
Reyana Preparing yourself to look young forever I guess.
