  • Despite getting off to a poor start shooting the ball this year, with their new look roster Trae Young's high-volume shot creation and playmaking have been on full display. But just how good is he on that end of the floor right now? And can he one day become the best offensive player in the NBA?

Great analysis! I agree that he has latent value off the ball that just needs to be tapped into with that quick release and all time range.

I think Trae is personally already in the top 5. I have him over KD due to the sheer playmaking gap and Lebron due to his shooting. I think the top 4 is between Trae, Luka, Steph, and Jokic. They’re all super close to each other.

You crazy, i love Trae Young but i don’t even think he is better than Ja offensively, let alone KD and Bron lol. Lebron literally shoot almost as well as Trae Young, Lebron shot 35% on 8 attempts last season, Doncic shot 35% on 8.6 attempts, and Lebron was 3rd in the league in efficiency from logo range, just behind Trae and Luka, so he is a good shooter just like Trae and Luka i don’t know why people still think Lebron is a bad shooter it’s not 2010 Lebron even shot 40% in 2013 something Trae or Luka never did.
Also KD is at his peak in term of playmaking, he had a career high in assists last season and if you watch him he really became an above average playmaker, not elite like Trae but still very good like a Donovan Mitchell or Tatum, so no way Trae is better than KD offensively.
And i didnt even mention the fact that Bron and KD alreadyproved that their is no scheme, no defender, no team that can stop them, if they play well they are almost unstoppable, Bron is 6´9 260 and is still one of the fastest, strongest and bouncy player in the league, and combined with his amazing vision, reflex and touch he can make any passes and finish against any defender.
And KD is 6´11 with a 7´5 wingspan, most efficient midrange shooter in the league, great 3pts shooter, has very good handles and is still very quick and agile despite his injuries and age so same as Lebron when he play well and his shot is falling there is nothing you can do to stop this man from scoring 30, in his worst serie ever against the Celtics at full strength in round 1 without injury he still averaged 26.
So no Bron and KD are still in the Top 5. For me it’s 1- Jokic 2- Lebron 3-Curry 4-KD 5-Luka or Giannis.

I think there's a misconception that his jumpshot "dropped off". 2020 was the only time he was ever a good jump shooter, he wasnt a good one on the Pelicans and he hasnt been sense, that seems like more of a 2021 Randle fluke season than an actual talent he had and then fell off from
