  • Ja Morant has been on an absolute tear to start this season, getting his team to a 4-1 record, and himself a first place spot on NBA.com’s first official MVP ladder. But just how good is he right now? And can he actually win an NBA MVP?

    The craziest thing is that his shooting is on the rise. Obviously the 56% mark he's hitting is unsustainable, but if Ja is now an above average 3pt shooter, he's about as close as a player gets to being unguardable.

    • @HoopVenue
      @HoopVenue  ปีที่แล้ว +7

      For real! Especially because most of these are pull-up, self-created 3s. Even 35-36% on those earns the defense's respect, and then you're more vulnerable to his slashing.

    Excellent video. Ja is the best show in the league. The slowed down hang time moves are unbelievable.

    Where would you rank him as an all-time finisher?

    If Ja puts this suspension to good use in the lab, he could come back better than he usually does season by season, which would be insane. With injuries to a minimum and more versatile coaching, this could be a championship season.

    how do you determine if someone is the best we've ever seen for example "best guard finisher" what criteria leads you to that conclusion when factoring era and rules? Also, what is your criteria for best player in the world? Lastly, awesome vid!

    • @HoopVenue
      @HoopVenue  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's mostly just me ballparking it as best I can. Looking at things like volume and efficiency at the rim, along with the versatility and difficulty on those shots.
      My criteria for best player in the world is the one who I feel gives you the best shot at winning a championship (funny right?)... meaning I'll estimate the value they provide on offense and defense, along with how they fit next to other types of talent to evaluate just how much "championship equity" I believe they hold.

      @@HoopVenueInteresting. So what sort of skills do you believe hold the most value in having the highest "championship equity"?

    Where do you think he will rank offensively by end of year?

    • @HoopVenue
      @HoopVenue  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm waiting to see how his shooting actually looks with a large sample, but for me he'll probably land just below Trae/Dame, heading the next tier of players. That puts him 8th? I could probably see a #6 case, although I wouldn't go there just yet.

  • @ooziefr

    Where do you rank Ja amongst other pg’s? Some say he’s Top 5 while others say he’s top 6 or at worse 8th

    • @HoopVenue

      If I were to write out a point guards list Ja would land as my #4, with a range of about 3-6.

    Who’s better offensively in your opinion Ja or Kyrie ? And why

    • @HoopVenue
      @HoopVenue  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      At this point I'm going with Ja because I think at that level, he just brings so much more as a #1, or the driving force of a strong offense. With that being said though, if I already have a mega playmaker or elite creator, Kyrie as a #2 creates a more limitless ceiling, so in that case I prefer him.

    • @JOHNNYPMUSIC

    Hey Hoop Venue if SGA was on a roster comparable to Ja Morant's do u think he would be looked at in a similar light as a top 10-15 player?

    • @HoopVenue
      @HoopVenue  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don't think so, just because I don't think he's on the same level. I do agree that SGA's situation leads to him being extremely underrated though, on a playoff team he's probably getting All-NBA buzz.
