@@drekfletch Off to get me some rhubarb cake
I'm not fluent but here's my best attempt;
Once in a small town there lived a woman called Barbara.
Barbara was known throughout the land for her abnormally good rhubarb cake
Yes, you could say that Barbara's rhubarb cake was (without ifs or buts) an almost magical experience.
Abra Kadabra!
Well this cake was bombastic!
And the demand rose drastically!
In the very same year, Barbara opened a bar which she called "Barbara's Rhubarb Bar"
In the city there was also a couple of Barbarians, who had heard of Barbara's rhubarb cake
And because, from then on, they visited Barbara every day,
People soon called them the "Rhubarb Bar Barbarians"
In the following years the Barbarians left behind their barbaric ways bit by bit
They were, according to Barbara, almost as nice as Barbapapa
But the Barbarians were very hairy,
And all had very straggly Barbarian Beards
(Not striking at all!)
Therefore Barbara sent her barbarian friends to a Barbarian Beard Barber.
He cut the barbarian's hair, the whole head, In his barbarian-Beard-Barber barber's shop
He was a terrible prattler [hard to translate], but their beards were totally tiptop afterwards
So the Barbarians invited their beard barber to the rhubarb bar after his work was done
They drunk a beer at the bar together, the rhubarb bar barbarians and the beard barber.
And every barbarian ate a piece of rhubarb cake there (I think it was two!)
Yeah, even the toughest men became approachable there!
And everything thanks to Barbara's Rhubarb!
Three Barbarians and the Beard Barber! Sat at a bar with a beer one night! The police came along "well where have you been?" Three Barbarians and the Beard Barber!

What's fascinating about this is that the word for "barbarian" came about because the Greeks and Romans thought foreigners sounded like "ba ba ba" when they spoke, and the term was usually applied to people from the northern regions of Europe, where they wore longer hair and beards. From that we get words like barber (referring to beards) and even the name Barbra, meaning "wife of the barber" or "foreign woman" depending on who you ask. But here I am, listening to this song in German (a language I do not understand) so it's come full circle for me, sounding like, "ba ba ba" just like it did for the Greeks and Romans.
Its like poetry, it rhymes

In seinem Barbarenbartbarbierbarbershop

-Not appealing at all!
Barbara then sent her barbarian friends to the barbarian barber.
He even styled the barbarians' entire heads,
In his barbarian barber shop.
He was a terrible blabbermouth,
But his beard was totally tip-top afterwards!
The barbarians then invited their bearded barber back to-
To the rhubarb bar after his work was done.
They then had a beer together at the bar,
The rhubarb barbarians and the bearded barber!
And ate without any barbarism,
A piece of rhubarb pie!
-I think it was two pieces.
Yes, even tough men became approachable,
And all thanks to Barbara's rhubarb!
...
Three barbarians and the bearded barber,
Were sitting in the bar one evening having a beer!
The police arrived: "But, where have you been?!"
"Three barbarians and the bearded barber?!"
....
This took me so long 😭
0:16 Abracadabra! The way it is said in itself was a magical experience, I love it so much. 🤣

Hello from Ohio! My 4 yr old daughter is obsessed with this song. We listen to it on repeat going to school each morning. She’s starting to sing along now - perhaps even learning German ❤
Only in Ohio
This is so cute, I love it!
I'm in Texas it's indeed a bop😊
That's not how you learn German
Such a cool story ☺️❤️ greetings to Ohio and your 4yr old deutsch-rap wunderkind!👍🍀
Getting overloaded of this on Tok, but hearing the original context is sooo good.
