    Great video. Do you usually leave the root be or do you also trim the small root sytem? You know, to stimulate growth.

      Thanks. in small plants I don't usually cut them, unless they are in clay pots where the thin roots usually stick and take the shape of the pot itself.

    Where did you order your seeds from?

      Those in this video were purchased from kaktus-koehres.de

      @@lophoflora What was your success rate with the germination? I was thinking about ordering some seeds for myself but was wondering how many sprouted out of the bunch

      @@chrisrodriguez3053 It's hard to say, I've had 100% and also 0% on packs of 10 seeds. I currently buy a little more than I need. It is important to give them feedback on the results so that they can assess the viability of the stocks, in fact Bettina Koehres herself asks us to do so.

    Do you always give a slight spray after you repot? Recently got some lophophora williamsi.. Repotted them 3 days ago but haven't watered. Had a mate tell me that I should wait for around 2 weeks before giving a slight watering.. 😅

    • @lophoflora
      @lophoflora  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I also wait a week or two. depending on temperature. I only water any of the plants when I know I'll have four or five days of sunshine afterwards. The bigger/older the plant the greater the precautions. In case of doubt, it is preferable not to water. Mine will only get water again in February. Except the seedlings that are indoors under artificial light.

      The spray was to wash the dust away. 🙂

      Thank you so much for your response. Really appreciate it. I just noticed that 2 of them that I repotted yesterday were a bit softish to the touch.. (watched your video on how to tell if they need water).. So wasn't sure if I should give them a little? Or just wait for a week or two and then give them some water? It's relatively hot and humid where I am..

      @@suveelsookdavu3705 It is difficult to answer without knowing the age of the plant or the state of the root. Even if you give it water, it doesn't mean the plant will absorb it. The waiting time is for the roots to adapt.

      Noted. They're around 4-6 years old at the moment. Some small ones. If you had a fb page, I'd send you pics 😅..

    Hello! Could you provide a link to the plastic pots that you're repotting from? Thanks!

    • @lophoflora
      @lophoflora  ปีที่แล้ว

      Of course. Soparco 7x7x6,2 size. I never buy them in the same place, and sometimes the price vary a bit. If you google the reference above you will find them, probably more near were you live, and spend less in shipping.

    How old were they on your first potting?

    • @lophoflora
      @lophoflora  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      About six months. After this last repotting they adapted well but this winter they shrank a lot, starting to recover only now, others with the same age that I repotted a few weeks later and whose video I didn't publish are much bigger. I think this is due to differences in substrate composition with different water retention and nutrient content.

      @@lophoflora Thanks. Just sprouted up about 15 little seedlings, and was hoping to get some guidance from you. My little ones are only a month old now.

    • @lophoflora

      @@CalSextons I'm also learning, with each sowing I change some things to understand what works and what doesn't. One thing I've learned is that I shouldn't repot seedlings unless absolutely necessary, as sometimes they take a long time to readjust, and some just don't make it. If they're growing happy, don't change anything. If you notice any changes, then act accordingly. I currently let them grow as much as possible in a humid environment, but if any problem arises, with fungi or mold for example, I remove the cover and let the substrate dry completely, this will make the plants thicken the epidermis to adapt to the drier environment. From there I start watering each time the substrate surface dries.
